Just wanted to say thank you! Using foil around the candles totally works - it keeps them from cooling off too quickly and thus forming sinkholes near the wick. I will also add this idea: be sure to use the shiny side of the tin foil against the surface of the candle. This will do an even better job of maintaining the candle's warmth for a longer period of time. You may have already mentioned this, but if you did, I missed it. :) I'm also glad that you mentioned the proper temperatures for adding the fragrance oil and for pouring - that's helpful for newbies, too, because it makes a big difference. Anyway, thanks again!
Your candles look perfect. I am considering my options to replace my income as a nurse ( as are just about all of my nurse friends recently) I was doubting how I could figure out how to make my candles less "homemade". Your thoughtful solutions are as simple as they are genius. Well done Sir.
I tested out this method because I've been frustrated by all the uneven surfaces I've been getting with the 464 wax. I wrapped the vessels in foil and put them in the roasting pan and covered it, and it worked! So happy for having such an easy solution to a vexing problem. Many thanks!
@@glasscitycandlecompany5126 -- It's obvious that quality of craftsmanship is important to you and that you take pride in what you do. As is said, "Whatever you choose to do, do it well." I'm not quite sure how your video ended up in my feed but I gave it a watch and was impressed. Your candles are beautiful in their simplicity. I hope you continue to find success in your endeavor.
What a great technique! Quality and consistency is a key to success and pride in workmanship. It only makes sense to preheat the jars prior to your pour and the result is perfection.
I have been making candles for 10 years, I just found the wick setting tool a few months ago and I absolutely LOVE it! Isn't it great? I also just bought the wax melting pot, and it saves so much time!! Thanks for the awesome trick and the video!!!
Thank you soooooo much!! Every video I watched for the wet spot, they just say 'never mind'. I hope that works!! I just tried it, i'll update if they come without wet spots !!
Wow, I have to tell you, I am extremely impressed! I too use Candle Science but I stopped making candles about a year ago (for a few reasons) and thought I would start making them again since I have thousands of dollars in scents, wicks, jars, etc. It is so funny, I have nearly the same equipment that you do, LOL! I assume the reason for the foil is to help the jar maintain a certain level of warmth which is what contributes greatly to the finished (flawless) candle? This video was excellent, thank you so, so much! You've inspired me to start again. 😊👍
Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, the purpose of the foil is to slow the cooling process by insulating the vessel, ensuring adequate time for proper adhesion :) I'm glad to be of service, and hope you continued inspiration and successes in your journey!
Loved the video, I am in the process of setting up my New Candle, Soap, and Skincare Business here in Seattle WA. Kudos to you, sir... We used this Al foil wrapping technique in our home made hot process soap... We use cylindrical / elliptical molds and used to get sink holes every time... Followed your technique and we got perfect soap cake without sink hole... Thank you sir...

Nice tips on 6006 wax. Very consistent, beautiful candles. I don't use 6006, but enjoyed the video and can appreciate the method you are using to get your well formed candles. I'm sure people who use 6006 are happy to get the information. Thanks for sharing with others!
I use igi 6006 also. I preheat my jars on a griddle from Walmart. I just turn the griddle to the warm setting and leave the jars there while i'm heating the wax and adding oil. That also works. I don't get any wet spots or sink holes. But this looks like a good method also. I may try this. Thanks for the video.
Hi, after you pour your wax in the jars that are sitting on the griddle, how long should we let them stay on the griddle? Until it is semi-solid ? I'm sorry I'm new to candlemaking and I just love it. ☺
@@justbeingme-83 Once I pour my wax into the container, I leave the griddle on the warm setting for about 10 minutes. Then i turn it off. I leave my candles setting on the griddle until they are completely solid. I also will turn the griddle back on for 5 seconds and then turn it off, if the metal gets cold while i leave the candles setting there. I will do that a couple of times to keep the metal slightly warm.. You just don't want the candles to cool too quickly.
