@@arjaygee Random or not, Democracy would allow for a vote to determine the decision by the people for the people. To think that no random person should have a voice is not democracy. It sounds like you would rather have a rich disconnected politician as president instead of someone who actually knows what its like to live on the ground in society. At the end of the day Democracy and the voters matter, so to say any random person doesn't change that they would still have to prove themself worthy of the position and that they are for the American people. Even after that they have to work with the 2 other branches of gov....
I genuinely see nothing to look forward to in the future. There are no likely scenarios where we safely advance at the pace we are currently at; not with the realities of a limited biosphere against a civilization that cannot slow itself. It might not “collapse” all at once; but we’ll almost certainly witness the decline in the next few decades. Very few of us will be afforded the privileges of healthy families, strong community, and retirement that were afforded prior generations.

The difference in generations of Americans are stark and it is showing… The older Americans who inherited a country of growth and unlimited potential want things to stay the same (this cohort embraces the capitalist society paired with a Protestant work ethic mentality). Then you have the younger Americans who did not grow up with the same opportunity nor environment for success who don’t care as much for those values. In the day and age of information it is awareness versus ‘chosen ignorance’.

For example, in Butler Nj you can purchase 2 brd / 2 bath condo for 400k. In Nutley nj for about 350k. Yes, it will not be a new construction. Condo of about 1500 sft. But it is ok. Noone has a guaranteed right to live in 3000 sft home even though that is what people somehow expect.
