The F40 is the best car of all times. If I'm not mistaken, in a very old top gear, Clarkson asked Tiff Needel: "You are the only one here who have driven both, the F40 and the Mclaren F1, which one is better?" And Tiff responded "F40 is better to drive".
The F1 is in a different league to the F40. The F40 is a stripped out racer, the interior is awful, the doors have pull straps rather than handles, it has a twin turbo engine so doesn't have the soundtrack to go with the looks. The F1 is infinitely better built, way, way faster in acceleration and top end. It has a quality interior and space for 2 passengers, the BMW V12 which has to be one of the best engines ever made. The F1 is the greatest road car ever made.

My uncle has one of this car. He was proud of me that a built a better myF40 by using Camry (yes, best/reliable/dependable car). One can buy a kit to buy & build a better super car with the reliable front wheel drive using regular unleaded gas. Low insurance! Then I sold it for $225,000.00 🙂
Yes it is!! Interestingly, all F40s have more hp than the factory claims, and the first 15 or 20 built in 87 are even stronger and lighter, having the same power as the 288GTO EVO! In fact the versions of the F40 'castrated' by traffic rules in the American version did not reach the speed of 201mp/h, those manufactured for Europe easily exceeded 200mp/h!
Was very keen on watching the show, but 2 points just of watching the first episode. 1 drew doesn't feel wat I think most people feel with this kind of car like the f40 okay it's not perfect in interior and details if you want that buy a rolls and cruise around with that but this is absolute trilling and gives the goos bumps. 2 the f40 on track was not like you want the see the car... Nothing trilling about it... Please just let the car speak and let it roar decently on camera that everyone's TV or stereo just blows itselfs in pieces when you set the volume on max... It just wasn't there. Nonetheless what a car what a history still worth seeing it only want the skip 50% of the episode

It won’t be long before all cars are electric. When that happens even an old petrol powered Nissan Micra will be interesting,
NO. Stunning machine and I’m a fan and glad it exits but best car for me goes to Mac F1. Just as raw in every way but the execution is on another level. Acceleration, speed, packaging, engineering, construction, could keep going with the list. F40, amazing but F1 = No1 in my book and by far:))
Legendary car. I like it a lot. I’d have the F50 instead though. Grew up playing Need for Speed. I think it looks better. Resonates more with my childhood.
Brilliant for sure, but to the big buck Ferrari purists they might be dismissed as clones or kit car replicas. Normal guys like us would cherish them and be quite happy with one.

Very limited electronics and it’s all you and the car. It doesn’t get any purist than this. And yeah maybe the McLaren F1 as well but driving an F40 (I’ve never driven one but I assume) is the closest you’d ever get to Driving Nirvana.

Then yes, the F40 is the best golf cart ever built. The idea of being the best means it brought something so unique to the concept of the car that we never saw cars in the same way before or since. In that context the F40 is a nothing. It was not innovative nor was it unique, except in conning idiots to spend too much for a bare basics car that went 200 mph, and there are a hell of a lot better cars that do that. Did it have unique suspension, a unique engine, or anything other than what Ferrari had already been doing for the previous 40 years and that is selling not very good, (mechanically or construction wise) cars for way more than they were worth because I only make 50 a year. Exclusivity is not the bench mark for greatness and that is all the F40 has going for it.

The Porsche 959 came out first and the R version legit did over 200. The 9595 was the first true super car.......
