    Thank you for your videos. I am a caucasian adoptive mother with a multi-racial daughter whose hair and skin tone are similar to yours. I have to admit that my attempts to care for her hair did horrible things to the texture of her curls before I knew any better. She just turned 6, and thanks in part to your tutelage, her curls are defined, bouncy, and reach past her shoulders. She loves watching your videos with me and has come to say how much she loves her hair. Thanks again.

    I heard that if you do go swimming to soak your hair in tap water and coat your hair with conditioner and then you can go swimming, it like protects it. And if the conditioner has silicones it actually helps protect it better. I heard a couple curly hair girls mention that. Since swimming is a popular question

    I do agree with Alba and avoiding pools with chlorine. I avoid them A LOT! However, if you are going to a water park or there's a pool party and you dont want to be left out. I would suggest taking a regular conditioner that you trust and slathering it all over your hair. Comb through and if your hair is long enough put it in a high braided ponytail or a high bun. Conditioner will create somewhat of a barrier between your hair and the water and make it harder for the chlorine to penetrate the strands directly. TO CLARIFY, it WON'T FULLY protect from chlorine, but will help keep away an amount directly to your strands. I've only done this twice because i try to avoid pools, but I do cherish this tip if I'm going.

    What about humid proofing your curly hair?! I live in Florida and it's SUPER humid out here so what do you recommend to humid proof your curls/waves?

    • @Mrs.AlbaRamos
      @Mrs.AlbaRamos  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well my initial thought around this hair routine I showed is that it's worked for me through all summer weather. By summer proof hair routine I mean it'll lock your hair in place no matter what summer brings. I've coated my hair with 3 different layers of moisture and used a gel as my last step that includes slip with our stiffness. This 3 step application works on humidity as well. That's what it's meant for. Have you tried the 3 layers of product process? Try it first and see the difference :)

    Before swimming, I part my daughter's type 3c curly hair into large sections and twist or braid with a product that contains shea butter and bees wax (such as Carol's Daughter Loc Butter). The bees wax coats the hair shaft well and doesn't allow the water to penetrate that deeply. My daughter swam every day for a week and her haor was undamaged and not dried out. Also, after swimming in chlorinated water, don't shampoo your hair. Cowash cowash cowash! Preferably with a deep conditioner. You don't want to strip the hair further with shampoo right after swimming in chlorine.

    Love your videos and your curls are always beautiful. Just wanted to warn you though, salt water pools are not chlorine free. The use a chlorine generator instead of the addition of actual chlorine like regular pools. What it does is, that with the salt, it generates the same agents used in regular pools instead of them being added directly. With that being said, we do have a salt water system in our pool.

      I'm glad you've read it! It's so interesting and we tend to just dismiss it. But with ocean water and beach water you're less effected because it's such a large body of water from nature and urine doesn't have a such a bad side affect like when it touches chlorine

    Thank you for those tips ! I agree that pools are toxic, but some people live far from beaches and rivers and can't afford a trip on holiday, so the only way to swim is to go to the pool :) Especially when you have some backache issues and swimming is the best sport to strengthen your body. Love your video, though. Have you been thinking about coming in Paris some day so you could get to know your french subscribers ?

    Are these products mainly for women of color? I have very wavy, curly hair that is course. I've been using Devacurl products for a long time. ..

      Absolutely not! :) Shea Moistures campaign "Break The Walls" campaign was really inspired by this perception that it's only for ethnic hair which it is not. Curly hair belongs to many ethnicity background no matter your curl pattern

    Hi Alba, Love your videos! I'm so happy I stumbled onto your channel. Quick question: How do you recommend finding out what "direction" my curls curl? I'm guilty of being addicted to my hair dryer. Now that I've seen your videos, I'm not afraid to air dry anymore! Side Note: Coconut Oil is my BFF too!!

    I've watched a lot of your videos and love your step-by-step instructions. I've also tried doing your routines and, if needed, tweaking them a bit. But no matter what I do I still seem to have a good deal of frizz. I've tried using a little more leave-in products, but it makes my hair really hard and crunchy, but if I use too little I still have a lot of fuzz. Besides drinking more water, because I'm a huge aqua addict, do you have any recommendations to help fix it? Especially for the summer. (Though I haven't tried what is in this video yet)

    hello Alba,
    I was wondering if you have any suggestions on a product to use on your face, in summer when not wearing makeup? something that is light and won't make your skin oily. I live in Arizona so, makeup in summer isn't something that I like to do:) Thanks so much!!

    Hi Alba! Quick question. I have very similar hair to yours, but it is super dry! I try to put product in it, but it always gets way too frizzy and big. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
