There's another DS called the DS ML that's like a hybrid of the original DS and the DS Lite. It's been around for a while but I never knew about it until recently. It's sold as a new product from AliExpress but it's not all plain sailing, see how I hot on with it and what is has to offer over the countless DS consoles I already own!

Problem I noticed was the seller shipped mine with an original battery from the DS which is nearly 20 years old. It was bulging a bit so I had to toss it immediately and order a replacement battery. Buyers should beware of this and make sure they're checking the battery condition.

I didn’t have issues like yours but I did experience the border coming off a bit, as well as screws being too tight causing limited tactile feedback of the d-pad. Also, the membranes were filthy but that didn’t cause a problem.

@@JoeBleeps I personally got a Charcoal Varient of the DS ML , and comparing it to the Gloss Black DS Lite , its actaully pretty nice :) , I watched the video and I'm sorry you ended up getting a dud , I got mine after yours and mines had very few issues , so maybe the quailty control has been taken more seriously since then, Its been getting a lot more attention since so hopefully thats the case . The other colours look a bit goofy to me , but in person the Charcoal varient is pretty wonderful :3 , making it basicly a ' Medium Large' DS lite with the abilty to turn off the backlight which i find kinda neat :' D

Is the hinge as stable and tight as in an original? I expect some wobble but is it like close ?

Same as the original, but as it uses parts from old consoles it may be variable from one console to the next

@@edgarledezma1928 yup, it's the same kind of appearance. If you have the model 20 motherboard you could mod it to get the brightness control but still not like the NDSL

@@JoeBleeps changing the DS screen with a DS lite screens and swapping 1 ml top plate (the plastic casing) with a red top. I have 2 MLs coming and want it to be black on bottom, black interior, and a red face plate. (Making it look like the crimson/black model of the Lite)

@@austinwilburn1772 you'd still be able to mix and match the shell parts. And depending on the motherboard you get, you can change the firmware on it to make the screens have adjustable brightness
