PUSHING THE JODEL TO THE LIMITS - PILOT VLOG no 415

- I fly John and Duncan in the Jodel, taking it to a few kg short of its maximum all up weight.
I am not a qualified flying instructor nor do I ever claim to be a very good pilot. I fly for fun and basically record for my own interest and review but upload because a number of people suggested that I should. I do try to edit for enjoyment and story telling and this means that some content is not always included.
Music - All from the TH-cam Sound Library
Camera:
Front facing and panel mounted - Go Pro Hero 4 filming at 4K wide @ 30fps - wide
Rear facing camera - Go Pro Hero 3+ filming at 1080 wide @ 30fps
Panasonic HC-V180
Sound Recording - Sony ICD-AX412F with a SAA40 (40db) Audio Attenuator
My headset is a Clarity Aloft

Thank you Terry. Glad you liked it. I always watch when pilots say “airspeed alive” We are usually at the brow of the hill at that point with no abort option. 😊
This is really interesting to see the weight calculations, i have never seen this before. Very informative. Good ol murky weather. Great stuff tim.
Great vid Tim. I particularly enjoyed the weight and balance refresher, and it was good to see the Jodel didn't even notice how close you were 😆
Thank you. Glad you liked it. We were very pleased with the performance. I didn’t mention that the POH states that the maximum landing weight is 740kg. Not sure how they came to work that out?
@@JodelFlyer 👍🏻
Good to see John still taking to the skies.
Yes, we are keeping him flying!
Such a versatile aircraft! 😮👏🏼
I’m impressed to see how comfortable it appears with 3 onboard 👍🏼
It performed really well Geoff. 😊
Mr Joly and Mr Delemontez knew what they were doing. Nice trim and trip Tim.
The certainly did! Thank you
It is always good to see you get air under the tyres and have a mates trip up together. I hope everyone is keeping warm.
Log burner on today and editing next weeks video 😊
This makes a new meaning to three men in a boat to three men in a plane, looking forward to the next adventure, thanks Tim.
3 men in a boat or Last of the Summer Wine?😂
What a great video Tim. I was watching the ASI and it seemed a bit sluggish at the start but got up OK and nice to know two up and 80kg of baggage in the rear is totally do-able.
I did write a reply to your comment Terry but it just appears in the feed? 🤔
There’s no getting away from the fact that Jodels are the best 😊 🏆
I think we are a little biased but I agree Mark!
@@JodelFlyer 😉
Is that a Dynon D10? What a cool plane with GREAT visibility!
That was a lovely video.
What caught my eye was the title, and it took me back to 1975. I was in the upstairs office in a hangar at a former BoB station, outside was a row of cars parked by the grass. There was some excitement and we all went to the window and saw a chap, flying a Jodel, over the top of the cars but below our window height. That was pushing some limits! That bold pilot was compared to me an old pilot, but I shan't mention his name!
Thanks for watching and leaving me the comment. Interesting to read 😊
Just shows what this wonderful little aircraft can do if needed. A superb machine. Really hope to meet G-AYEH and its owner at some point in the future. 👍
We were very impressed with the performance on the day. Looking forward to next years flying season!
That's a great little aircraft 👍
It is a great load lifter and reasonably economical
Good to see you boys having fun! ❤ Please put the date of your flight in the description because I always like to check if I was airborne on the same day!
I do on some but I take your point and will try to remember. This one was the 10th of November.
@@JodelFlyer Thanks mate 👍 Just checked and I flew on the 11th. So I wasn’t prowling around on the Sunday😂
Great little aircraft, the DR1050. I part owned G-ARRE back in the 90s. Load lifting and short strip performance were amazing.
They are great machines! 😊 Thanks for watching
Pretty much what ever ya can get between the. Leading and trailing edge she will lift it.😅😂 John looked quite at home In the cheap seats and had a good view of everything up front.😮😂 Good to get out and muck about in some WX keeps one Honest and useful when it does turn a bit crapo.😅😮. Keep at it and always remember if in doubt turn the engine off if not stopping.😂😮😢😅❤
I think John enjoyed his trip in the back and Duncan did make us a cup of tea.
Nobody puts baby in a corner. Doesnt matter what you sound like but as long as you talk they know your there and the content is done.. keep it safe keep it coming
Thanks Barry
Impressive take off performance 3 up on wet grass. 😊 👍
We were very pleased with it.
A murky run out Tim, good to be airborne. Chris in Devon.
It was quite a murky day but good to get into the air!
Nice one Tim
Thank you
I like the section about Weight & Balance but I must say I do the landing part differently, I always look at worst case so with min fuel, that way if I have to divert or hold for a long time I know my CofG remains in limits.
And I always have to do a third calculation, to cater for inverted flight 😉😂
@@s1spittsdriver Especially just after take off 🙂
Good idea Algy. Good to share ideas
@@JodelFlyer Well I try to prepair for the unexpected, especially as I fly test aircraft, I have to make provision and report on performance.
Great video! Quick question, what engine have you got in your aircraft? 0-200? I only ask as I’ve got a variation of a Jodel (Falconar F-11) with the 0-200, my MAUW is a lot less though, 620kg
Thank you and yes, it is a 0200
In terms of safety I'd like to see a shoulder harness for the back seat passenger.
Maybe I will look into seeing if there is an approved mod to the factory build.
Alright in the back 🧐
Got to make sure they are all okay! 😊
Great post, thank you very much.
What I also like... the constant smile of the passenger in the back seat... No offence, of course.
Glad you liked it. Thank you for watching
