I'd like to be able to ask the guy speaking about a humble and honest seeking agnostic, what IS your standard for evidence? Like what would qualify to you as enough or good enough I mean. I went through about a year and a halfish of studying apologetics, strenuously, seeking the truth daily after being indoctrinated by a couple years of the joe Rogan podcast and others. It wasn't until I was at the sink doin dishes one day that I said "God, idk if you're real or if the Christian Bible is true, but I'm just gonna do what it says." Iv never meant anything iv said so much before. I woke up the next day, and I felt different but didn't realize it entirely until I evaluated my behavior a couple days later. Changes occurred in my life that iv never been able to have control over, the way I treated people, the things I thought about, everything about me was just suddenly different. Now, did God tell me that he's real and that he made these changes in my life? No not at all, but it the best explanation.. I believe that it is. What qualifies as evidence to you? I think that's an important question to ask yourself, evaluated your standards and ask yourself if you're being reasonable.

Hey! I’m the guy that asked the question. I’ve been a Christian my entire life, and have been seriously studying the faith (including heading off to school to become an apologist for four years of that time) for more than a decade.
Here’s the unfortunate fact I had to learn the hard way. While I remain a Christian for a number of complex reasons, the historical evidence does not reach the standards an average person (not predisposed to Christian belief) would apply to such a metaphysically significant claim.
To help you feel the weight of what I just said, honestly listen to a Muslim or Jewish or Mormon apologist and truly ponder how little their historical arguments move you. After coming up with the standard of evidence each one would need to meet to persuade you, then apply that standard back to your acceptance of Christian historical arguments.
This process will take you much longer than a year if you are to take it seriously. Until then, please respect those who have actually done the hard work
It is very possible to be an agnostic or atheist worth celebrating… because intellectual honesty is worth celebrating.

I'm so thankful God decided to rescue what I was going through in my mind. There's more than I really wanted to say publicly, things of demonic nature. I agree that intellectual honesty is absolutely worth celebrating, I hope you can have genuine peace of mind one of these days, you sound like you've been on an interesting journey. Get ahold of me on Facebook if you're ever interested in hearing about some of the things I haven't mentioned publicly, you'll be scratchin your head for sure lol. If the question of how old the Earth and all Creation is, from a Biblical perspective, is what's causing conflict about your faith, you really need to try harder. How old everything is, is ultimately irrelevant. The basis of Christian faith isn't how old everything is, but in what Christ did for us and that accepting and welcoming God into our lives is our salvation.

Wait, how exactly was the thief on the cross wrong? Jesus clearly says that all authority has been given to Him _after_ He resurrects. The way I've heard it taught is that Jesus was somehow limited when He walked the earth, and only after rising again does He return fully to His glory, ie to the throne, to the kingdom.
If that's not the case, then it raises questions about other passages, namely how does Jesus pray, how does He get tempted, and how does He die?

What I can never understand about transgenderism is how they even define what a woman is. They think being a woman is having long hair, glue on nails, wearing mini skirts/ heals / and the color pink. In fact being a woman is none of those things! My favorite color is white not pink.. my hair is shorter not long.. I don’t even prefer to wear dresses and skirts but im fully biologically a woman. Being a woman means a lot of things for example having a period once a month and dealing with the hormonal changes that happen when that takes place, sacrificing my body for 9 months to carry a human life inside of me and then birthing that human life in the most painful way.. then sacrificing my breasts for two more years to nurse that child. Those are only a few examples.. putting on a wig/mascara/high heels/ and a skirt doesn’t make you a woman .. that’s sexist. Being a woman is much more and you either are or you are not. The end.

For the issue of Ephesians 2:8-9 Vs. James 2:24, I look at it like Ephesians is saying how you are saved where James is saying that your salvation is evident or justified through works. You cannot do any work to earn salvation. If that were the case, then Jesus died for nothing. Through grace, which is freely given, you are humbling yourself accepting that only God's intervention can redeem you. Through accepting Christ, your heart condition changes and what occurs on the outside, like behavior, deeds, and expression of love, long suffering, and self-control etc., is the evidence that shows that you have accepted Christ and that you have faith in him.

My only issue with the Genesis answer is that it seems to me like the structure does make it clear that Yom is intended to be a literal 24 hour day in this context.
There is additional theology that would also seem to contradict a long ages framework, particularly that death would have to come before sin, which blatantly contradicts sound theology.

Regarding faith alone it's time to clarify: Romans 3:28 is a key verse in the differences between traditional Protestants and Catholics. You will notice that Paul says a man is justified by faith (pistei in Greek). When Martin Luther translated the letter to the Romans into German in the sixteenth century, he added the word alone -but alone is not in the original Greek text. The phrase “faith alone” does occur in the New Testament: one time, in James 2:24. There the inspired apostle denies that justification is from faith alone. Let me quote it: “You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.” Even thief on cross did things, declaring his belief in Jesus, true repentance from sin and desire to follow Jesus, so its never has and never will be "faith alone", but rather collaborating with God's grace.

For that blood question check this out:
Isa 53:12 - Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
So Jesus poured out his soul for our transgressions?
Jhn 19:34 - But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
But it was his blood and water?
Gen 4:10 - And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
    Blood has a voice?
I’m just speculating but is the soul and blood interchangeable?

The idea that time space and matter are co-dependant is flawed. Time and space can still exist with the absence of matter. So only matter had a starting point. When that was is not clear, but you cannot begin to calculate time and space without it. Because you require reference for calculation. Time itself is also a subjective concept, such as our own day calculated by our own surroundings.

Hi there, well the Bible does not speak about purgatory (this is a concept you have in Catholicism). The thing is that in the Catholic teaching it is "JESUS and grace + your own works" in order to work out Salvation, which is not biblical.
The Bible says we are saved by grace alone through faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
The Holy Spirit dwelling inside a true believer (someone who has truly repented of their sins and put all their trust alone in the LORD JESUS CHRIST and is therefore born again) is helping us to live holy before the living God.
Hope that did help a bit.
      Greetings:)

54:16 I had a friend (now deceased) who had a hyper-predestination theology. For example, he once asked me if God knew I was going to be wearing the shirt I had on. "Well, God has total knowledge, so sure He did." Then my friend asked me if God could have stopped me from putting that shirt on. "Um. Yeah. He's all powerful..." Next question, did God stop me from putting that shirt on. "No. He did not."
So my friend's conclusion: God knew I was going to put that shirt on. God could have stopped me but He didn't. Conclusion: God MADE me put that shirt on.
Ya just can't get through to some people.

God also created the Universe in which you put that shirt on, and knowing you would do so as a result of his actions. Had he structured his reality differently then you might have worn another shirt or been buck naked, but that too would've been his choice as he knew what would follow.
Hyper-predestination is a natural consequence of your conception of your deity's 'total knowledge.'

You still had free will in your choosing to put that shirt on. God isn't making you wear that shirt because He knew you would and allowed it to happen. That's like watching my son pull his arm back with a rock in his hand and say to me he is going to throw it through a window. I just stand and watch him break the window even though I knew he was going to. I didn't make him throw the rock at the window. He did it by his choice alone.

    • @pierrelindgren5727

@@OttoTheGermanShepherd Except your god didn't see your son pulling back his arm the moment he did or said so, but before the first moment even existed. Before you existed. Before he existed. Your god created the reality in your which your son threw that rock. No matter which reality your god creates he'd know every outcome and choose which ones he wanted through the shaping of our reality. This is an an unavoidable consequence of the omnisciene Rog ascribes too.
The analogy would work better if you knew your son would potentially throw that rock before you impregnated his mother. And then deliberately, with perfect foreknowledge and clarity, came the moment that potential would become an actuality in the future. You made your son throw that rock.

The surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses passage probably confirms my long held conviction that the whole drama of creation was predicated on the conflict between God and the angels. The war that ended in heaven with the removal of the fallen angels and their being cast down to earth had raised the necessity for God to end a certain unresolved issue in the hearts of even the loyal angels. The question was whether God alone deserved worship. To answer that question God planned to raise weaker creations made from dust (in line with His eternal word that if "these" should no longer cry out Hosanna the stones would cry out in their place) and these would worship Him. The weaker creations made from dust or stones turns out to be us humans. Essentially then the angels have all along been scoping us with wonderment to see if we would make the mark. Reminds me of a line in the hymn "And can it be that I should gain..." where the hymnist wrote "T'is mercy all, let earth adore, let angels minds inquire no more."
This so explains why Satan the head of the rebellion had to act swiftly to derail the whole project by tempting Adam and Eve. Needless to say, had he delayed and the whole program panned out without interruption, things would've turned out very much differently. So, yes, the great cloud of witnesses will have to be the angels who are scrutinizing our every move to see how weaker beings like us could come to fill up an holy office such as worship. Remember when Jesus said that the Father is seeking for those who will worship Him?! Meanwhile, that is no indication that an all-sufficient God is lacking in something and needs our worship as the fact this was made an issue by the rebels - and so God - to prove a point - is relying on weaker vessels like us.
I hope this makes some sense.

thht question about women preachers. if i may add the following comment---
3 women preaching Christ, one in the jungle mission field, one on a street corner passing out tracts and one standing in the pulpit in a Christian church. Two of those will be lauded and praised for their courage and answering the call of God. The other one will be accused of heresy, feminism, rebelliousness, disobedience to God’s word, told to repent. Nothing about the message changed. Only the location.
And one tornado with good aim will turn that church into an open air location--then can that woman who was not allowed to preach inside a church now bring the message of christ on that same spot where the church once stood?

For people that don't have the metal capacity to understand Jesus or babies that pass away, in a way, is their free will taken away? Or does God know that those are the people that would have chosen God if they lived longer or didn't have mental illness? We all have free will, but do they have free will? I've heard Dr Turek say that some people don't want to be in heaven. It would be torture for them ? But I also think, for these people , are they considered unsinful because they don't know what it means to go against God? The Bible says sin is when someone knows it's sin. Any feed back welcome❤️🙏

If I had to guess, the great cloud of witnesses might refer to the Angels which are different from us, we do not become angels when we go to heaven. But there are lots of examples where Angels appear and interact in this earthly place. Yet the angels have interaction with God in the heavenly place. There is actually a lot of evidence in the Bible that both Heaven and Hell have physical properties, a physical place, not just a spiritual place. That is worth noting I think. I would also disagree with Frank that Heaven hasn't been made yet, it say's in Genesis that God made the Heavens as well and in Revelations it's a New Heaven that is to be made at the end of time. But I have a feeling Frank knows that and maybe just did not think of it at the time.

Hebrew does not have progressives, no perfect tenses, and no compound tenses. The original Pentatuch texts were written in Hebrew without punctuation or chapters. Genesis 1 and 2 have seemingly different creation chronogies, due to literary arrangements. Genesis 1:16 is not a chronological account but an explanation of why the sun was created (in verse 1). Genesis 2 elaborates the why of the creation in Genesis 1. The main idea is that everything God created was for the purpose of sustaining life on earth for the benefit of humans.

I agree with Chip that there are surely people within Mormonism, Catholism, Jehova Witness who find their way to salcation. But your assumption that if someone within those religions say they believe in Jesus and that He rose may not work simply because a religion preaches jesus does not mean within that religion they are referring to "the Jesus." Mormons for instance believe the Jesus they teach is equal to Joseph Smith, not one third of the triune Godhead.

Yes the gift of salvation is free, but we miss the Lords commandment "Go teaching them and baptizing them in my name". By the way, baptism is NOT a work. It is an act of obedience to the commandment. Peter said it is also an appeal to a clear conscience. We sit and bicker about this when it is so clear (mark 16:16, Acts 2:38 and Acts 18, et.al.). We are also to rise up and live godly lives and then spread the good news!!! Are those works? No, just obedience.
