mathijs stevens people that are not good and blunts/nose blunts yes but if you lean and do a blunt the right way you dont needs loads of wax on the ledge
mathijs stevens my original comment said you dont have to wax the ledge more, implying it has been waxed and it not a virgin ledge. I have seen people blunt/nose blunt ledge with no way just like you know need to wax the ground to do a power slide
so i had this hole in my eardrum, and it has been there since birth. recently had surgery to fix it, and now my balance is fantastic. can't wait to skate again.
Thank you so much. I skated from the ages of 12-19, then gave it up. YOU inspired me with this video and your attitude towards skating to get back into it after almost 6 years. I went out and bought myself the best board I could afford and now I have a white-board with positive messages and goals for getting back into the swing of things and learning new tricks. I missed it so much, but it was your videos that made me finally decide to ride again, and I am LOVING it. I feel like a kid again and I'm learning so much. So to end this gushing of praise, skate on man. I know you'll go far and know that you've inspired one fellow skater to get back into the game :) -Peace from Minnesota
***** Well there are techniques to bailing, and you'll learn eventually what not to do when falling. The fact of the matter is you're going to take some slams though. It's going to hurt, but you'll get used to it if you stick with it.
***** I mean if you have responsibilities you'll obviously have less time to practice, but just start out with the very basics. I know the awesome tricks Chris does seem appealing (to me as well), as long as you're having fun, no need to reach for the stars out of the gate. I'd suggest getting all of your ollies on pat. Regular, switch, fakie, etc. and then build upon that.
A tip with saving clips : After you film a clip you like ,stop filming, put your hand in front of the camera ,film like a 2sec clip of only your hand and later when you want to see what you have filmed you just search for the clip with your hand and the clip before it is the "saved" one. :D Most of you maybe do this already but this is for some of you who don't. :)
I like number 10! Rodney Mullen always talks about "stacking." Breaking the trick down into components and perfecting each one so that when you go to do the trick you can focus on the outcome because the rest is automatic! You're right! Science is cool!!
Im here because i watched the 10 year old time capsule video the went live today in march/2021 and this one was my first ever chris chann video. Been a sub ever since. s2
Another skate hack that helps me out A TON. It kinda goes with #10... I land my tricks much, much more consistently if I say something out loud JUST before I pop. For example, if I'm trying to ollie a gap and keep bailing, I yell "FIRST TRAYEEE!" just before the ollie. It distracts the brain from concentrating on your movements and helps you commit.
Jween Tech dude thats a brilliant idea ....... i really have a big problme of committing....i didnt i think of this......tha ks man u helped so much......because of this i landed my first kickflip
Citrus cleaning products. Put the bearings in a bowl of citrus and swirl them around. Before you do this though get all the grit out of the bearings! After wash out with water and then dry them with a hair dryer. Once done put some lube on them, spin em up and you're good to go! Worked for me for a year and half old bones reds
This was my first chris chann video and the reason why i subscribed, since then I always watch his videos, i always wait for new uploads its really fun to watch, and I'm not even a skater
Definetly agree on the Hydration one. Even though you often dont feel hot, or thirsty, it's amazing just how much quickly you can begin to suffer from dehydration without knowing it immediately, even on cold days where you won't ever feel too hot or uncomfortable. Take bottles of water with you, and make sure to have regular drinks.
The last one is definitely super accurate and important in my opinion. When I'm all "in the zone" trying a trick I know well down or on something bigger/gnarlier/more difficult, I'll get way into it and I start focusing on like the initial pop in, or catch, or rotation. Then I get exhausted and finally land the trick once I slow myself and focus on the whole trick, not just specific parts. That's just me though.
Couple of things: Yes, you should also stretch *before* skating, just like prior to any physical activity. Warming up the muscles works best when combined with stretching. Obviously, also stretch afterwards. Also, Isaac Newton would beg to differ on how to carry your board. It takes a lot less energy to hold the board grip inward because you don't have to fight the torque; the board is in a mechanical equilibrium. You can just, you know, not press the grip into your hip. Just these two points, loved the video anyway. Lots of useful tips.
Excellent point on holding the board, I shouldn't have said "you should hold it like this", but at least now they can decide whether it's worth it to hold it like that haha. Secondly, I still disagree with stretching (static) before skating. Research shows that static stretching before skating may reduce muscular power and possibly increase chance of injury (not 100% sure on the second one) and is best for after your cool down. Aside from this, Thanks for your positive feedback Mr. Uselube. :)
christopherchann I've looked some things up after writing that comment and it seems that science is on your side on the stretching issue. I take my words back.
Regarding dynamic stretches I've found that light squats into jumps and brisk walking around helps loosen up the hips. Then I just do old freestyle "walking the skateboard". Basically just tic-tac-ing around and doing full pivots frontside, backside, different directions. One it gets me warmed up for skating but it also is a warm up for being on the board.
Chaotic Flare Honestly I think it's the "die" part of your comment, google thinks it's something in German I speculate. Anyway, I was joking. So I valiantly stand by my original comment.
You asked for a video suggestion at the end so here is one. Ive browsed around on your channel and have seen any "how to" videos. I would suggest maybe a how to heelflip, kickflip, popshuvit, yaddah yaddah. I happen to be a beginner so I would totally watch those videos. Keep up the good work!
With the RICE thing. Today I landed my first kickflip and right after I landed it I tried another one and screwed up my left foot. I then took a break for about 15 minutes and tried again (still with my left foot in pain) and screwed up my other foot. Now I can't skate for a week. :(
As an amateur, I finally found out why I should follow the crowd and hold my skateboard tape-outwards. Thanks! Oh and thanks for that skatespots site. I found one for Perth, Australia. Legeeend!
As a Fitness Trainer you have whats called static and dynamic stretching, I don't skate myself but the same principle applies. warm up through the movement if you ever see AFL (I''M AUSTRALIAN) aka Football players stand opposite shoulder to shoulder swinging there legs back and forth and side to side also swinging there arms. That''s a dynamic stretch (just like swinging your arms in circles before you attempt to warm up for a bench or even just using a bar to warm up) where you will never see them before a game unless done in the locker room they never lay on the ground and reach for there toes because you could potentially damage your muscles, tendentious or ligaments... its also important to static stretch after your finished while your muscles ligaments and tendentious are slowly cooling down and allows you to keep a healthy strong body for your sport of choice... hope I helped at lease one person :)
.. if you're wearing sleeves. the chances are unless you're a girl, you'll always have clothes around your waist area as a boy lmao. but not necessarily will you have long sleeves. also, you can roll sleeves up. rolling the waist part of your shirt up just to carry your board would be a bit weird LOL
wow that last tip makes so much sense. I always wondered why if I had a trick down and then I kinda lost it, when I would go back and try to relearn it by thinking about all the little movements I would just get worse at the trick. thanks dude!
The last tip is what I like to use. Focus on the landing and don't over think. It helps me to visualize tricks. Tune out of thought and tune into feeling and flow. Great video, and the tip about stretching is nice to know.. And that shirt is fucking fantastic!!
LMAO that last tip had so much science in it. I learned that just when my friend was watching me skate he said "Don't think about it just feel your board" so I didn't think about the specific movements I just felt it
Fill cracks in ledges with wax, jam a piece in big enough to fit, then stamp on it, making sure it's in tight enough. Now you should be able to skate it better
We've come this far without an 'app' to take us to skate spots. Just someone else cashing in on a pointless idea. Word of mouth, skate around, eyes peeled when travelling in cars etc. paying for spots haha, as if that's even a thing people encourage
You're paying for convenience basically. Not everyone wants to drive around for hours on end on a wild goose chase looking for spots. Might be good bonding time with the homies but I'd rather be skating the spots than looking for them.
bc he got paid to say it.. aint noooo way he needed to buy a 40$ app...u can shred n e where thats part of being a sk8ter..goin on missions finding sik spots
TIP! Another great filming tip for saving time when going through video looking for makes among 100's of bails is to get the filmer to put their hand in front of lens for a couple of seconds when you just filmed something you want. That way when you're going through clips you can jump straight to the end and if there's a hand at the end of the shot you know it's something you want!
Im gonna add a little tip, waxing you board or trucks instead of waxing a ledge more, also wax the board above your wheels to help with wheel bite
this usually works but not for blunts, noseblunts, etc.
mathijs stevens
people that are not good and blunts/nose blunts yes but if you lean and do a blunt the right way you dont needs loads of wax on the ledge
not a lot but you'll still need to wax the ledge a bit
mathijs stevens my original comment said you dont have to wax the ledge more, implying it has been waxed and it not a virgin ledge. I have seen people blunt/nose blunt ledge with no way just like you know need to wax the ground to do a power slide
sorry i thought with no wax on the ledge at all

Here is a tip to add!
KEEP YOUR TOE NAILS CLIPPED.
100% agree with this one. Bigger drops hurt if you don't clip
Watching skate videos when you have injury. Coming to this... like if you want to skate..
Libertas Music - Copyright Free Music I'm not injured but I am not allowed to skate because of hockey tryouts and I want to skate so bad
I sprained my pinky lmao and got road rash on my left shoulder
"You don't wanna skate after you injure yourself" cough cough Garrett Ginner
lol😂😂
i was gonna say that!
Garrett is just eternally injured
lol
why?
Does he comb his his hair to make it look like he doesn't comb his hair?
Why do you care?
***** Maybe he wants do his hair like that. Why do you care if he cares?
I have not a care that he cares. take care now
You didnt care so much that you commented sharing how much you care about what he cares about?
I like where this is going lol

Just citrus...? Citrus what? Citrus fruit or citrus cleaner?!
***** then set it on fire
Citrus cleaning products. Put the bearings in a bowl of citrus and swirl them around. Before you do this though get all the grit out of the bearings! I never knew Chris was a scientist
dude that last one makes so much sense im going to have to think like that from now on when i attempt a trick, thanks chris.
Ayyy 2019!!! Keep pressin' Chris!
Tip 10 applies to a lot more than skating as well. Such as playing an instrument. It's crazy what you learn from unexpected places.
Couple of things:
Yes, you should also stretch *before* skating, just like prior to any physical activity.
Lots of useful tips.
has to be dynamic stretches though, static stretching before skating reduces strength and power for up to an hour
you just lean the non grip side against your hip. it's like a two finger hold, minimal effort required :)
Aside from this, Thanks for your positive feedback
Mr. Uselube. :)
christopherchann I've looked some things up after writing that comment and it seems that science is on your side on the stretching issue. I take my words back.
christopherchann It's best to warm up a little bit then do dynamic stretches before skating :)

Tip #11) Smoke Weed before skating ;)
Chaotic Flare
Haha google wants to translate your stupid comment.
It actually depends on you language setting, it says translate to you too, don't act cool.

Honestly I think it's the "die" part of your comment, google thinks it's something in German I speculate. Anyway, I was joking. So I valiantly stand by my original comment.

Wolfgang Prinz, cool, good advise, rock on! I am into indoor longboarding, like floor swimming and floor sledding

Jokapaka who asked
You asked for a video suggestion at the end so here is one. Ive browsed around on your channel and have seen any "how to" videos. I would suggest maybe a how to heelflip, kickflip, popshuvit, yaddah yaddah. I happen to be a beginner so I would totally watch those videos. Keep up the good work!
With the RICE thing. Today I landed my first kickflip and right after I landed it I tried another one and screwed up my left foot. I then took a break for about 15 minutes and tried again (still with my left foot in pain) and screwed up my other foot. Now I can't skate for a week. :(
Does it still hurt? Same thing happened to me, but instead of screwing my foot up, i screwed my toe up.. :(
Does it still hurt
Does it still hurt
As an amateur, I finally found out why I should follow the crowd and hold my skateboard tape-outwards.
Thanks!
Oh and thanks for that skatespots site. I found one for Perth, Australia. Legeeend!
Words of advice don't over think it just do it.
Carrying your board grip out still wrecks your sleaves
.. if you're wearing sleeves. the chances are unless you're a girl, you'll always have clothes around your waist area as a boy lmao. but not necessarily will you have long sleeves. also, you can roll sleeves up. rolling the waist part of your shirt up just to carry your board would be a bit weird LOL
Never thought of any of that fairenoughits a good tip
wow that last tip makes so much sense. I always wondered why if I had a trick down and then I kinda lost it, when I would go back and try to relearn it by thinking about all the little movements I would just get worse at the trick. thanks dude!
Please to a setup video

Asians=knowledge
But chris isn't asian but if he is thats awesome I guess im not the only skater whos asian
Chris is asian
he even opened a box with knowledge
Here my garage i have a lot of knowledge
+ParikhFC !!! and you know what I love more than knowledge
LMAO that last tip had so much science in it. I learned that just when my friend was watching me skate he said "Don't think about it just feel your board" so I didn't think about the specific movements I just felt it
I longboard and is quite difficult to carry the board around grip facing outwards. It pulls the board inwards.
Don't long board. Become a man.
Whatever... ;)
+Kazzzzzo do both, one for getting around and one for doing tricks
Get into downhill, dont become a waste of life

What is a good skate shoe which isn't too bulky? I been just using my pairs of vans and was wondering if there is a shoe that is worth getting
huf is pretty tight
Adidas? HaydenCamposs I just ordered a pair and they look nice and thin not bulky and Adidas are a good brand from what I've heard.
QualitySkater go with the nikes bro

Skate hack number 10 was the most helpful and eye opening for me
why would u buy something thats free ?...... buying skate spots lol
you buy the markers on the map that show you where the spots are. the app helps you find spots you never knew about
We've come this far without an 'app' to take us to skate spots.
Clay Hadley well you have wheels on your skateboard and that what make it fun. You ride everywhere in the town and you find spots.
bc he got paid to say it.. aint noooo way he needed to buy a 40$ app...u can shred n e where thats part of being a sk8ter..goin on missions finding sik spots
Simple things we all forget daily, big help! much appreciated!

I've been skating for years and this helped me, Thank you for tip 2 man
Your shirt is the fucking sickest thing ever. That is all.
Cool tip on keeping yourself hydrated. can tell you're majoring in science.
Use Zip ties instead of shoe laces, that is if you ride vert and burn out laces.....
Holy shit. The real tip is always in the comments.
Best part: your shirt...love it! The video was good bro
your missing a line on your shirt bro
No, that's a treble clef, and I am aware it's Legend Of Zelda, but it's only supposed to have 4 lines
No it should be 5 lines and 4 spaces I know because I play bass clarinet and I stare at sheet music for hours on end
Butt I think it's a Zelda ocarina reference
+JeffGaming smh
TIP! Another great filming tip for saving time when going through video looking for makes among 100's of bails is to get the filmer to put their hand in front of lens for a couple of seconds when you just filmed something you want. That way when you're going through clips you can jump straight to the end and if there's a hand at the end of the shot you know it's something you want!
lol I have freaking yoyo bearing lube .... XD I have multiple hobbies so don't ask why

Thank you bro.
