Great review, just purchased one for my 1st sea fishing sessions in llandudno later this year, can't wait! Totally new to it but yours and Johns videos have inspired me to get started! 😊 Hopefully will get to say hi on the shore or the pier, tight lines!
Cheers buddy! You won't be disappointed with it. I love mine. A touch heavy, but it's built well. That's ace to hear that we've inspired you!!! Go forth and catch a load buddy!!! No doubt you'll see us! If your ever down, drop a comment and I should see it, I'll see if I'm free to pop down!
Brilliant review buddy I’ve been dragging my feet on buying my nephew one. I bought a cheap tripod and it was cheap for a reason. Just been out and bought him this tripod to try out tonight.
cracking review mate, ive just bought one of these and like you i think theyre a good buy for the money. i had the same problem with the rod rest top a bit loose but still a peice of kit, looking forward to using mine.
Hi Mike, I have had this tripod for a couple of years my only gripes with this tripod are the top rod rest no matter how tight you tighten it still moves, I will try your idea of a large washer to tighten down too. The other is the stabilising arms which you push down and tighten when packing away. You must really loosen the locking screws other wise you will bend the black rubber like joints and damage them. That all said I do love it. It looks good and light to carry when moving up the beach.
Yes, it's rather loose! I'll probably try the washer method first, doubt it will solver it. I'm also think of drilling it a little wider and banging a nut and bolt through it. And cheers for the heads up about the arms mate 👍
I got the DAM one couple of years ago, frame and everything is more or less the same. Think my top bar could be longer but is that it is and never let me down. I got the tronixpro coolbag which velcro on to the three legs , keeps bait cool plus you can fit bits of kit on outside idea for beach fishing at night
i bought 2 last year and the only thing i could say bad about them is the same as you said about the top one is loose i tried the washer methord and it worked for me i work down holyhead port and the rock ship has been dropping loads of rocks off for weeks from norway now and was wondering where thety was going and now i no lol great review carnt wait to see you and johns tope session all the best for the new year mate tight lines
Handy to know the washer method works, makes it worth while giving it a go! Yes, thats ace about the rock coming from Norway!!! Alot of it is from llanddulas but the dark granite is definitely the Norway one! So cool mate. How's fishing like down by the port? Any marks?
@@thatsabite there are a few marks but unfortunately there on the inside of the port and wouldn't be able to fish there unless you worked there but there is a place called long stay car park by Dock Bach had a few bass there few months back and the usual fish whiting dogs pollock might be worth a try for your self in the future my mate had a few Mackrell and some herring down dock Bach the oer day also and a few squid all the best lad ianto from holyhead

Glad I found this review as I'm after a new rest. Seen these salt tripods and was going to get one. Unfortunately that flappy top section and the flimsly looking joints has really put me off. Shame really as the Salt products are usually very good.
Fair comment, I can happily say that in the two months of owning it, it's been absolutely brilliant mate. That wobble is next to nothing, don't let that put you of. We'll worth the money this pod.
@@thatsabite Think I'll give it a miss. Too much plastic and fiddly bits to loose. Those support arms between the legs seem very thin. I'll stick with the battered Imax fixed rest for now and look for something different. With the Imax range the top section which supports the rod is fixed and pretty bomb proof and no little scres to loose or rust.
@That's a bite I did ok I caught 5 mackerel and 1 other fish which I'm not sure of its name I'm only just getting into sea fishing I was using carp rods lol 😅
@MrEvsy penn prevail 14ft surf rod mate, can't fault them and bang on for the money. They have dura guide eyes which are a lot more durable, you can pick them up for around £125. Have a look at them 😉
That salt tripod fits perfect on the salt rod bag if you thinking to go the hole hog pal I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now and have had no problems with it only thing is watch you don't loose those screws for the cups or rod holders in the rocks or you are fkked!!!! Hope you enjoy your stand like I have :)
I've got a tronix pro rod bag/quiver, it'll fit into that, however... might aswell match with the blue hadn't I! One gorgeous colour that! 😍 Thanks for the heads up about the screws, I'll be mindful now.
Love your vids mate I have it myself I have it in water with me as tides come in, you shldnt have to put anything on it shld tighten flush mate..... keep them vids coming an catch that cod

Solid pods, ideal for prom fishing where the surface is solid. It doesn't slide around.

I like my salt tripod but they’re bloody heavy. If I’ve got a long walk I go back to the good old Ian golds.
So people are saying, the main thing is, it's sturdy. I'll have a look at the ian golds, they look pretty decent.
👌💯
Tighten the screw at rear first buddy
