Yes Mike that’s what I use 50 or 60lb shock leader tapered shock leader is really only for multipliers

Normal shockleader is completely fine, that's why it's called shockleader lol. Tapered leaders came about a long time after conventional leaders. Aslong as you tie a small enough knot a normal leader won't cause you any issues.

Same as me and my lad, 1 night at Newry beach and a morning at Llandudno wall, caught 1 pecker and loads of crabs.. was still a great few days.

Great video buddy beautiful morning there the pulley is my go to rig to and as for the shockleader I don't use that tapered shit me personally I use 80lb 8 strain braid on my reel straight threw but I would suggest you use shock leader with it as braid will deffo cut you 100% mate we gotta get out soon buddy 🎣🎣🎣

I run a 30lb braid and a 75lb shockleader.. i dont trust the tapered stuff.. as long as you have a strong slim knot so it doesn't catch an eye you'll be fine. Sayin that you'll still get a crack off occasionally mate.

Only ever used normal shock leader and never had any problems personally cantsee the piont in expensive tapered leaders but each to their own

Hi Mike Rule of thumb is 10lbs shockleader for each ounce of lead ie 5oz lead needs 50lb shockleader I find any make of 50lb line works well enough You only need specialised shockleader if you are a pendulum caster etc Cheers Paul

Rip your ring inserts out. Tapered or 60lbs braid is the way to go.

I use non tapper ,,you need enough for at least 3 turns of the spool ,I use 80lb but you need at least 10lb per 1oz of lead if your casting hard ,tapperd is just for getting less weed at the knot .

I think fishing has really helped my mental state. And if I don’t get out for a while I for sure agree it does help keep you going.

Bravo for the effort,shock leader or not on that crack off,the bail arm wasn't flipped over on that 1,tight lines.

Normal shock k leader is fine mate I use it all the time. Tapered shock is to make a smaller leader to main line knot that's all.

Never used tapered shock leaders, the weight don't half go when they do crack off 😂😂😂

Hi Mike, I always use 60lb cheap Shakespeare line as a leader, no problem with the cast and never a snap off, I’m a believer that fancy Dan tackle is only there to catch people not fish. Thanks for another vid keep em coming.

I was always taught the shock leader was just a bit of security especially if you chucking a 7oz lead out.
