Unionized College Football? ...Which would only make it more of a "money hungry environment. Its all ruined ...in my opinion. No more loyalty to a school or orogram or state. Ugh!!! Great show Paul..I enjoy your podcast!
It’s simple. If you tell a kid you’re going to give him X amount then give the kid that amount of money. Would any of you stay with your employer if they didn’t pay you what was agreed upon? Do I like any of this? No but this is where we’re at in cfb. I think cracking down on the amount of times you can transfer may be the answer
Also I think there needs to be a bounty type system where the NCAA could throw some money at a kid that reports tampering. Along with paying the player there needs to be a year suspension without pay for the coach who does it. No more slap on the wrists for favored universities. Tampering is and has always been a massive problem.
Only a few elite money schools will be able to compete. Everyone else is the minor leagues and amateur football. It's definitely ruined. As a PSU fan, we are already taking a beating, and I think we are even better off financially than WVU. I feel bad for smaller schools.
Thanks for commenting. I'm honestly not sure where we stack up... We had the #1 portal class in America in Basketball in 2023.... We spent more than anyone..... In Football it seems to be that you need more money as well to compete due to the sheer number of players needed. in bball 3 elite dudes can carry a team
If it’s going to get to this point, they probably need to have a players union and it needs to be on a salary clamp like in the NFL or other professional sports.
Why culture is more important now then ever. Have a great culture, don’t lie about NIL or playing time. Cream will rise to the top. Neal Brown looking a bit better in that light huh
Culture is important but so is national image of the school. I was concerned about the newly released 2025 U.S. News College Rankings. I saw that PSU ranked around #50 and Pitt around #70. WVU was ranked #220 among national public universities which was even slightly below Robert Morris U. WVU President Gee needs to address this issue or resign. On a good note, there is a site that describes why the U.S. News College Rankings are full of BS and it lists around a dozen reasons which I like.
If he was promised 100k and signed without seeing it in black and white that’s on him and his terrible agent. That kid obviously got poached and we’ve already had kids poached however I think anyone with NFL dreams has to know how god awful that will look to scouts/coaches.
how does this ruin anything? coaches make millions, get paid millions to be fired. Athletic departments, conferences, media companies etc all make money. whats ruined now?
What are you even talking about? Players can leave anytime they want to the highest bidder. And now we have a major example of it. Others will follow suit.
@@petewilcox3354 Players should be allowed a one time transfer. After that they lose a year including any red shirt if available. So that is 2 years if you transfer out after one time. If coach leaves or fired transfer cannot follow coach .
Had to make a second comment, ppl are saying he went back and asked for $300k after the 3-0 start even tho the initial commitment was met, if that’s the start he is a genuine shitbag for bailing on his guys
In less than 10 years wv will not h a ve anybody with money to give to country roads trust for NIL. You all better enjoy your athletic sports before the donors run out of money they WV will no longer have money to pay your student athletes when that happens your good coaches will leave and more big schools will become schools like Marshall . There will be only 20 maybe schools that will have money past 10 years until the donors get feed up and refuse to donate any more money this all will end in 25 to 30 years when the money runs out.
If it’s going to get to this point, they probably need to have a players union and it needs to be on a salary clamp like in the NFL or other professional sports.
It is beyond ruined.
Beyond 😢

That seems like a dream... But so did paying players 5-6 years ago, lol
Love the union idea.
Yessir
Sad state of affairs.

Yeah. It's all about the money. Did you see the story about the UNLV QB leaviing because of a NIL argument?
Did you watch the video? Lmfao

Yup

Agreed Jared!
Pretty sound logic. Guys don't quit on neal either. Something to be said for that

Because no one wants them. SIMPLE. He is that bad of a coach and you NB fans luv being bad to mediocrity at best.

Players play at 3 schools+ and it is horrible for growth as a young man and it sucks for the fanbase and team chemistry

@@LockedOnWestVirginia ummm...exactly paul. its ok for coaches, it should be ok for the players. you preaching to the choir.

@@pitchshot2868 no arguments from me on that. for the record CFB is a mess right now. and it show no sign of correction anytime soon.

There are other people saying he didn't get the initial promise and then only extended it then
