I think WVU fans are plenty loyal, and have cut Brown more than enough slack. With the program in a downturn in his sixth year, people are understandably at a boiling point.
I can understand the fire Neal Brown billboards because people are frustrated and there was a fundraiser to fly a banner over Mountaineer field and I guess they couldn't get that part done so they bought billboards instead but to buy banners that says keep Neal Brown is just going to probably make everyone more divided and argue. Could even see more fire brown stuff because of. I would say brown has no opportunity to redeem himself even if he goes undefeated the rest of the year because that's what everyone expects with the teams we play that are left and next year schedule starts out really easy and we play pitt at home next year so we expect him to win so I don't see where he can win the fans back over unless he wins a big 12 championship but not everyone's coming back to support him. 6 years at sucking his time is up. This was the year.
Saw one of the "Keep Neal Brown" signs today. Fans have a right to defend him, but back in reality with the rest of us, he's just not the guy. Majority of WVU Football fans do not want to settle for this mid level competitiveness. Myself included. Whether or not NBs family, friends, coworkers or players see this, they should inherently know that this kind of job comes with good and bad publicity. It's just part of it. People have just as much of a right to express their disappointment with the program as the ones who support it without question. At the end of the day, the disgruntled fans not showing up to games or tailgates as a boycott for a change have the power. Regardless of a what a stupid billboard says.
Replace Leslie with Glenn Schumann, if you could, as DC , then replace Brown with Schumann as HC when it's convenient and least costly. Schumann is 34 and has a lot of good years ahead.
The people who put up the Keep NB signs are just as guilty and hypocritical. If a top level player is running around Morgantown contemplating playing here, neither billboard is going to deter them or make them want to play here. All they have to do is look at NBs record, record against ranked teams, games we should've won but didn't, how we close games we should easily be routing teams in. The list can go on and on. Additionally, why would they make an argument saying the ones who made the Fire NB signs could've donated more positively to the CRT, but then do the same exact thing by throwing money to the billboard owners. These people just lack common sense.
I do wonder how long this will continue. Neal Brown has the become the rock that broke WVU football's back. The fans divided and billboard battles....its infuriating to watch the Administration ignore what Neal Brown is doing to the program. Just dividing the fans is enough to make changes. NB is not a winner...he is not going to be a winner...he has no killer instinct.. his personality shows in his team..notice when they need to finish a team off..they can't do it...PITT!! I don't give a good goddamn about billboards. I don't like losers..I've never liked losers. Wren Baker and Gordon Gee will never force me to like a loser. I don't like getting humiliated by ISU and KSU and talking about the weather and tailgating. National humiliation..thank you administration for turning my stomach. At least act like you care about football...and winning football games. No more excuses....lets see some action.
@LockedOnWestVirginia I've seen so many people saying the billboard money could've been better spent, but billboards are mad cheap to get something put up there. West Virginians and Mountaineers should be raising hell over the fact this clown is the highest paid state employee. The people truly DESERVE better representation.
I can support Brown if he is a winning coach. Not a .500 coach. Get your act together. Just like Macfee said , we Stunking it up. Let’s clean it up, if Brown can’t get it together it will be time to move on!
It's every year I get hyped up with the build up of how this year is the year and the team... We got the weapons and plan to be good... Trust that climb and slowly every year it's the same except last year. It really sucks for the kids on the team. I hate it for them the most. I wish it was easy to fire him. And it's.... Afraid too say ... Going to drag on .....hope it just doesn't all fall apart.
you can’t do anything with wren imo. look at what he’s done with the rest of the schools program. we got a good looking basketball team right now with high hopes. soccer was #1 in the country at one point this year. WBB looks good, WVB looked good this year, our rifle team ofc is performing great and winning chips, golf looks good. i mean hes done wonders for every program… but football. which i believe that if we got the money to do it, he will put together a great staff for a successful program. we just have to hang in there for a little longer
Mountaineer Paul should read some of the comments when the fire Neal Brown signs went up. The majority of the post were to keep Neal Brown. Apparently he is not from Morgantown or he would know how to pronounce Sabraton.
@billwinston9418 Brother I've got THOUSANDS of comments myself to check and everyone wants him gone. You are 1000% off base on this one if you think the fans want Neal to stay ill tell you that.
So tired of you always putting our coach down, you’re a fan only when we win, how about OSU not winning a conference game this year, should they fire their coach one who you’ve praised for his greatness! Come on your supposed to be a better man than that
Everyone reaches back to Pat White and Steve Slaton but we literally played a cake schedule at that point... our big games were against Louisville, South Florida, etc.... big east was watered down.... outside that 3 year stretch we have been an average program maybe slightly above... expectations are tooooooooo high.... and this is coming from someone that watched Major in person for 2 seasons
Okay and we beat Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, Mississippi State, and many other teams during that time.... so when it came time to prove it is a playoff or (bcs) setting... we absolutely did.
Yes, you can have it both ways. If people want to be crybabies and put up fire someone signs then other people are sure enough allowed to put signs up that says don’t fire someone it lets BROWN and the players know that some of the fans appreciate them.I’m not involved on either side, but I’m happy to see the positive signs come up
@@LockedOnWestVirginia I agree. This is not a political campaign with billboards to see who gets the most votes. The decision to keep or fire NB must be based on what is best overall for the WVU FB program. Look at performance on the gridiron along with success in the transfer portal, retention of current players and recruiting new talent.
Paul your wrong on neal brown... we've just lost to better teams... I agree I can't defend his record against top 25 but he's just now getting the program back on track... run him off and you'll regret it, maybe not bowden 2.0, but it will be similar... he leaves and he will go on to be great and we can watch
And that's the issue dude!!!!!! We have NEVER EVER EVER EVER been ranked in SIX years after being ranked at some point the previous 17 out of 18 seasons.

Neal probably put up the "pro Neal" billboards.
Right
If that's true , does that mean Brown is a Democrat?
I bet the powers that be are wondering what is going on...the fans have had enough of 6 years of excuses and blaming everyone under the sun.

Wow. I guess some WVU “fans” are fine with a mediocre football program. I’m not. #FireHCNB
Rivals ranks WVU #35 for the current recruiting class. We only had one de-commit from WVU to Kentucky by a native of the Bluegrass State.
Money could be used for better things... I could think of a lot better things to do with $4m.
Concerning what? Neal's buyout or Billboards?

It’s just a matter of what is acceptable.
For some, a mid level program is acceptable,
You are right, some want the middle of the road
Neal Brown probably bought those “Keep Neal Brown” billboards himself.
😂
Maybe Narduzzi did it too troll the program
Omg 😂
Fire Neil and make Baker pay for the xtra year since he extended him for no reason. Way past time to move on
Sabraton(Say bruh ton) A suburb of Morgantown.

WVU football is a bad soap opera!!

Nehlen was 12-48-2 vs ranked teams.
He was mediocre too.Overrated really

I'd be open to keeping him if the team ends up with 8 wins, and the defense looks halfway competent now that Jordan Lesley is gone

I’d just take the early Big 12 days. Even the Clint trickett and will Grier days were way better than this BS we’re dealing with
