Same, games and films these days try to use high quality animation or the best actors to try and make us feel sad but Pokémon with its tiny pixel characters can make us feel emotion they dont need some huge impactful quote the impact is from the journey you went through with your partner and the song is just the cherry on top no lyrics required the sweet soft melody gets the point across this is the peak of what an emotional scene is. And I dare anyone to disagree.
I had this eot several years ago and I expected it to be some random spin-off I’d get sick of in a couple games only for it to give me the most heartfelt experience I’ve ever had in game and I think it did legit make me cry

I love the first game, but this game did the ending so much better. In PMD1 you had all the other pokemon, which gave that feeling of "family" but I always felt kind of watered down the moment with your partner. Here it's so much more visceral that once you disappear, it's just him. He has to make that final journey alone, a culmination of all the lessons he learned from you since you met. The partner dynamic is also flipped in this game. In PMD1, your partner was helping you make it in this new world, but here you're helping them. They're the one who was too scared to go to the guild, and you help teach them what they need to know to succeed as a Pokemon, not just as an adventurer. This moment hits so much harder because now they have to learn to stand on their own. The final words from your partner are of desperation, because you're the reason they've done anything. So when you finally leave, they desperately claw at the air both physically and verbally as they clamour for the words that will stop you from leaving them. But the final lesson you get to teach your partner is that they're strong by themselves, you were strong together, not because of you. I'll always look fondly on this ending, though I remember the first game more, because it gave so much more of itself to make it hit harder.
I’m watching in 2018 and this just reminding me of the good old days and no matter what no matter how many times I see this it makes me cry no matter what this truly was one of my favorite games the orchestra was beautiful and so was the gameplay this game will be one I can never forget

I was squirtle and my partner was cyndaquil, and i finished this game yesterday and its all ive been able to think about. This is one of the best pokemon games ever, if not the best.
I was also a squirtle with a partner that was a cyndaquil, my partner was named "Amber" I know this is nearly 10 years old at this point but I love how this is like an exact paralell to me man! Best game ever

I played this for the first time at 10 and I can still remember first how hard I cried when Grovyle sacrificed himself, and then flat out sobbed during these scenes, even now no matter how many times I play through the game it tears my heart out watching my partner go through that much pain as I fade from existence
This scene... to say it bluntly... is emotionally devastating. But that's what also makes it amazing, even to this day. I remember seeing this for the first time all those years ago, under my bed since I was so close to the end. Only to be crying my eyes out through this point and even the credits. Blue/Red Rescue Team may have done it first, but this game delivered a more impactful emotional scene that is... perfect.
Just finished replaying this using an emulator (I lost my nds some years ago, and didn't know you could play this game without one using emulators) And even after almost 7 years, yep made me cry bitterly, one of the best Pokemon games in terms of story writing. No question.
And remember guys they put this in a child's video game they wanted to do this to us I have never once forgotten this scene I was just a little one back then I'm 24 now and I still play this game from time to time just because the scene comes to mind and I want to cry
The most beautiful ending ever. I did cry during this part, of course. If only they didn't absolutely kill the beauty of the game by trying to continue beyond this. This would have been a beautiful ending if they hadn't kept going and ruined the moment by just bringing you back.
I agree and disagree. I don't think it ruined the moment, but I do think that it ending right on the note with cyndaquil crying to bidoof, with a bit more stuff added onto it and then the ending.. YEAH

I'm never going to not cry when I think about this game, and this scene, even years and years after I played it for the first time. the sight of my partner busting out into tears because you *had* to disappear always gets to me. either that or the moment when bidoof tries to finds him/her on the beach. this game has all a perfect game needs but they had to stop at this masterpiece for no reason.
God dammit, I still remember the first time I played this game and this cutscene came on, my character was shinx and my partner was charmander, one of the saddest moments of my entire life, I cried for about 15 minutes
It took me about 30 tries to beat this game when I was like 10 so when I finally beat dialga I didn’t even cry, I just felt so accomplished I was okay with my Riolu finally going to the heavens

It’s funny and sad that I just noticed this but in rescue, gates and super the one who leaves is taken away in an orb of light. While in explorers they just fade away from existence. I really like that bit of difference.
