I think you should make the handle a little longet, and sharp at the butt. The way it is now, makes me lack the option to hit with the handle/butt (in case of close combat self defense).

Yes. If you want to make it even more dangerous double the cord length and loop it through a pad lock on the end. It’s stiffer but still has the added power of the flexibility with a heavy metal piece at the end. It’s devastating

To have a weapon that will either intimidate attackers or stop them when they do attack, you need to have some heft and weight. So, a steel cable.

That knot will never come lose. Not enough space in pipe for it to come lose. If anything the more you whip the tighter the knot will become.
