Thanks for the tutorial, Enda! I've been experiencing the same difficulty in triplet playing, so this video will help me. Sorry for being a terminology nerd here: In the title, you mention "pick slanting", but the explanation seems to deal with what I think is called "pick edging". Which is a totally different concept. Am I wrong?
Great video! I understand that pick edging can help with triplets on the heavier strings. Coming from guitar i was using a pencil grip, and switching to the curled hold for banjo i think i have too much pick slant/edging which causes some string scratch noise. So ideally we want to keep the pick perpendicular to the string for the clearest sound, is that correct?
I think there’s a little trade off needed. A small bit of pick noise sometimes in exchange for consistent picking and triplets. Certainly a perpendicular pick will produce the cleanest sound and that works fine at slower speeds. The edging and slanting is used when the tempos go up
I would like to buy a new banjo, because my 17 fret banjo doesn´t tune well. The tuning is not stable. What banjo do you recomend in a price range between 600 and 800€? and if it would be worth it. 17 or 19 fret?
@@IrishTenorBanjo It would be better go for the clarinbridge, right? Im from spain and i think it is very difficult to find that banjo here. I think they send banjos to spain. I have to watch it. My banjo is similar to The Bridge. I think it sounds detune because is a 17 fret banjo and it doesn't hold GDAE (and for the bad player too). It sounds better in CGDA. So I wait a little bit more and I will listen to you and buy the clarinbridge. Thank you for your advices.
Excellent and interesting about pick/hand adjustment on the lower strings. Thanks again Enda 🙏
Fantastic song and very good tutorial!!! Thanx so much!!!

I just recently learnt this tune I think I've a bit to go with getting it as good as your good self

I think you’re right! I was trying to sound cool!
Ahah! Fair enough! Thanks for the feedback.

The Clareen Clarinbridge is a very good starter banjo, it’s about €1000. The Bridge is ok, it’s a €350 banjo.
