    Thank you as a man and a father, I found Dr Glover's talk about his own father very moving. I remember kissing my dad on the forehead and saying goodbye and thanking him as his body lay in the bedroom he died in. I wish I said it while he was alive but I am sure he knew. We always had a good relationship thankfully. Our fathers do so much for us and often dont get the credit they deserve.

    My dad was a tough man… he made his mistakes. I love him so much since he died in my arms when I was 15 years old. I remember the fear in his eyes… he don’t want to leave us alone. We get to make peace with each other at the very last moment. I’ll always miss him. “Where ever you are dad… please forgive me.

    Old conditioning will forever try to pull you back into a prison. Decide what you want to be, and begin moving toward those goals. Know exactly what it is you want. That is your primary job as a man imo. Don’t simply accept what ‘is’. You can change if you will it.

    more than likely if you are a nice guy you have attracted narcissistic people into your life who think their needs, wants and opinions are more important than anyone else’s. So when you start disagreeing, saying no, etc they will become very upset with you. Shame you for being selfish and try to guilt you back into the role that works best for them. There are more people in your life like this than you think

Soon after I'd found various communities as well as Rollo Tomassi's The Rational Male. I'd been unable to attend this recent 21 Convention yet would've absolutely found a way had I known Dr. Glover would've been a speaker there! Ahhh oh well, I will for sure attend both 21 Conventions in 2019.

    Nice guys are protecting themselves for the problems they went through at a young age usually with their parents. They need approval cause they didn't get it when they were young, it's that simple. It's a survival technique, and if you get lucky, you'll be able to relive the past and come to terms with what you missed out of. At a very early age we start adapting to our surroundings, and dealing with what's missing. If we're being ignored, we learn to play by ourselves, and at a later age if we're rejected we learn to either get mad at the rejection, cause it hurts us, or not have the strength to project your feelings and you learn depression, and lethargy. Then if the mother turns your questioning her behavior at 5 or 6 years old, into why are you doing this to me, then you've got guilt feelings to go on top of that. If the mother pays attention to your feelings and is very loving, you become content, self confident, and even selfish, on the extreme end of a lot of love. So you basically a sponge and processing plant for the feelings you absorb when your young and they can make or break you. Life then, like this book becomes a healing journey. You are how you were raised.

    • @deadreckoning6288
      @deadreckoning6288 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately yes. The conditioning we get in the formative years is extremely difficult to deprogram ourselves from. I've spent a lifetime healing from this and it's cost me dearly.

  • @lupebogi
    @lupebogi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's only one thing that I can't get my head around: you can't be a recovering nice guy your entire life.
    To me, that is essentially running away from yourself because even Dr. Glover said it himself, that there are certain characteristics of the nice guy that he has that he wouldn't like to change about himself. Those would be core characteristics that differentiate yourself from the other men. I agree with recovering from being a nice guy, but as much as some people are more naturally inclined to be more aggressive and may suffer in life because of that there are people who are naturally nicer and that isn't such a bad thing in my opinion.

    Anyone here familiar with the book "How to be a genuine fake"?
    If so you'll understand my main confusion with these topics, because fundamentally everything to do with ego identification is bs.
    This and knowledge that the self is ultimately an illusion makes finding a consistent stance when it comes to the idea of being authentic difficult or perhaps even impossible.

    • @onezerotwofour184
      @onezerotwofour184 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @N Yo In everyday life ego identification is completely pragmatic for success in human affairs (so it's not bs in that domain), but ultimately I think everything in this universe is connected on some level, to such an extent that it's hard to argue that there is such a thing as the true separateness that may be implied by a perspective only derived from ego identification.
