This is the best of the new Supro line of amps. Something about all that clean headroom pushed into a very tight sounding 10" speaker sounds soooo rich.and warm. My Strats never sounded so good. My only gripe, if you can call it that, is that it doesn't seem like 25 watts. It's about the same loudness as a Princeton reissue - just with a lot more volume on tap before getting into OD territory. Still suitable for playing with a full ensemble if instruments, nonetheless. The sweet spot is at about 2 oclock, as opposed to the PRRI which begins to overdrive at about noon (or less with humbuckers). The tremoverb also blows the PRRI out of the water on the low end and overdriven tones in general, although I still think the PRRI/DRRI onboard reverb is just a bit better (Fenders always do this best anyway). An odd, but appreciated thing about the Supro's tremolo is that it's incredibly dynamic and dependent on your attack. Even with the depth maxed, you can still hear your chords ring out with a hard attack, while light picking and arpeggios are definitely tremmed out. It's quite musical, but not everyone may like this about the amp. I bought this primarily for its surf guitar abilities, but have found it takes pedals so well that with the right gear you can pretty much get anything you want out of this sweet little combo.
I'm strongly considering ordering one of these but am concerned on its reactions to different overdrives.. does it retain the specific characteristics or does it always sound like a driven supro? (I've got a rat and dumble style, and with many amp types they barely sound different while on fenders you would get them right blind every time.) thanks for any information!
+Felix Blacksher I am torn between this, the Royal Reverb and the Saturn Reverb. I want great clean tone with the reverb and tremolo and go to Rock with or without an overdrive, at low volumes. Can you please give me any insight to which one will do that? Thanks !
I had written out a lengthy response to both of you guys just a little while ago from my phone app, and then... got a phone call that caused it to erase everything. so annoying. Anyway, let me get back to my pc tomorrow and I will reply again with everything I was saying. Definitely don't make any decisions until I can chime in! however you just can't go wrong with this amp if you are leaning towards this one anyway.
jim leiss Felix Blacksher Hey Jim, I went ahead and got the amp anyways, I actually got to play one next to a DRRI to judge the headroom and clean tones. In regards to my question, it does not retain different characteristics as much as a fender.. but it isn't _bad_ at it by any means. You can legitimately use it as a bedroom amp and a stage amp. the amp has blown me away. My first amp arrived with a problem. The box was dented in but I don't know if that was what actually caused it, but Supro sent a new one out and told me to just throw the old one in the box and ship that back. It was Dave Koltai himself I talked with. The reverb is VERY different from any other spring reverb I've used. It sits slightly behind your playing. As you increase it, it does dampen as a normal spring reverb but you always hear your guitar clearly. They did this on purpose to avoid muddiness. If someone where to have explained this to me without me hearing it, I wouldn't of bought it. But playing through it I personally like it more than standard spring reverb. I'm big on dynamics, I play with fingers and use volume and tone knobs. I didn't really understand that an amp could be this dynamic. The biggest brag, and one I didn't take seriously, this amp is dead quiet. I turned on My Tone Bender and Rat and it was as quiet as if they weren't on. then you hit a string and it sounds like a tornado. The Saturn has been getting a lot of flack for lacking headroom and distorting early, I would not get that over the 1622. The Royal reverb is too loud for me. It also uses 6L6's just like fender. (Supro used them too in days of old, I know) But you would be missing out on the 6973 charm. Their breakup and dynamic range are beautiful. Favorite tubes. Thank you for responding Felix, you're a good guy.
Could Andy do an instructional video on that version of road house for us some time.? Also, what is that green hollowbody with the bigsby in the opening song.?
you mean the background music? I think thats andy doing that and I dont find it annoying and dont watch it if you find it annoying its only a demo ad for Supro amps
This “Roadhouse Blues” deserves to be on a record.
Am I the only one that can listen to him play guitar for hours? :b
Frankie Hiltz nope - we're all big Andy fans 'round these parts !
Great guitarist, that's for sure :)

+Felix Blacksher Felix, thanks, I can't wait to hear from you! The more info,
the better!
Do it Robby do it!
Holy fuck that last song with the Fuzz Bear pedal, that was a badass tone.
Eats pedals for breakfast...then asks for more! Best line ever.
Andy, you badass m-fer! Always a great demo.
i just fly when i ear black keys on these demos, thank you !
That amp man is sounds good
Last one sounded like Ohio by CSNY. Let's face it...Andy could plug into a cat turd and it would still sound good. Some guys just have it.
Ah, so it is Thanks for that. Still has that CSNY vibe to it.
Amazing performance!
Stellar playing as always, Andy! What's the BGM that starts at 1:44? I've heard it before, in your EHX Cathedral demo.
icecreampimpdeux It's in like, every single one of their videos
MKRocker94 I had no idea lol
Damn that intro was tasty

Andy, have you ever try a Kemper profiling amp, what do you think about it?
Whats the song on the green guitar?
joaomanuel2 Goodbye Babylon by the Black Keys (assuming you mean the last one). Great song.
What is that green guitar at the end, it looks awesome
Reverend Club King
What's that song that you played on the Strat Andy?
atoman9865 Just a little something that came out while playing the amp :)
Andy
Really great stuff brother! :D Just taught myself how to play it, lovely tune!
atoman9865 By the way, that is a G&L Legacy. G&L is more "Fender" than Fender.
+Robstafarian except for the sound
Which is better.
Killer amp!!
What's the name of GREEN guitar?
It's a reverend guitar ;)
Thanks! :)
The Jennifers "Just Got Back Today"
is andy in a band?
Goodbye Babylon!
What's the first song?
Tommy Smith The Doors - Roadhouse Blues
Go robie go !
For the same price point you can get into a Deluxe Reverb RI {take your pick of flavor: '65 or '68}. Either will eat the Supro's lunch.
Lol nope
Awesome... glad it wasn't a pedal
PLEASE lose the production music. It's annoying and in the way. Thank you.
