I had a late 60s Supro Statesman 2x12 separate head and speaker cabinet about 50 years ago. It was considered a low budget amp at the time. The tremolo and reverb were amazing.
I have the delta king ten inch with reverb , and I love it . This amp sounds wonderful , and the fact that I can lower the sound without much of a tone loss . Sounds perfect for my apartment . Great review !
Wow great tones on that little monster. First time hearing you play John. Not bad at all sir. I’ve got to admit I only know you through your rig rundown videos. Nice getting to know more about you from your playing.
Love it really great Tone. I happen to own a Holland custom made amp that has tube Tremolo , Reverb and vibrato. It's a 60 W so a little loud for home play.
You have a very unique, percussive way of playing. I own the Supro with a Les Paul. I'm not.. thrilled with it. It sounds awfully dark, and has a strange low-mid range hump that I'm kind of getting used to. I've mostly EQ'd it out with a JHS Haunting Mids (I bought specifically for the pairing), and it sounds good. With split coils in single coil "mode" it definitely sounds a bit better, to my ears at least, but I prefer humbuckers. So I'm a bit torn at the moment with this amp after 2 months.
@premierguitar are you guys using different camera now for this? Looks so good. Skin tone is looking great. Can we get behind the scenes & workflow video of this?
Reminds me of the discontinued Supro Jupiter 1668RT but a smaller version. Almost identical layout. That's an improvement for those of us finding the heavier amps more difficult to move around as we age.
Fresh off the cattle drive in Dodge City, Clint Hickock saunters into the Lucky Lil Saloon/Guitar Emporium, tips back his dusty hat and says "Reckon I'd like one o' them newfangled Lonesome Cowboy tremelo pedals." I hope George Tripp is watching your video...
What is exactly that Stratocaster model in the beginning of the demo? Looks like maybe the 1957 American Vintage 2 stratocaster? The match with the Supro is just magical!!
I have a comet I got when they first came out. A great little versatile amp . Is the reverb in the Amulet the short spring like in the Comet ? That’s my only negative on mine.
The Delta King 10 is 5 w, 6v6 power tube (Amulet 6L6),, only one 12ax7 in preamp, a FET circuit for the OD circuit, no tube driven Trem, no tube driven Reverb, no attenuation,, UK made high quality speaker on the Amulet, completely different asthethics.. Is just a completely different amp. A few guys say the same thing as you, it's completely useless.. Just looj the specs
Thinking of picking one of these up this week. I've seen a couple of comments about build quality not being the best... Hard to know if a legitimate concern or just people complaining unnecessarily. Any owners here that could shed some light? Thanks
I'd like to get my hands on a Coronado that they reissued. I've got the Jimmy Page Mirror Tele and I think it would be awesome with that amp. I love it with my AC30 and Jimmy Page used Supros with his Tele and that's my favorite tones he ever got.
Hey John! First, great Review as ever:-) Second, I have a question. The bridge Pickup in this strat is a duckbucker, right? Is it wired as a regular singlecoil (250k) or do you use 500k? Thanks for your time! cheers from Berlin
I had that same 40th anni with maple fretboard in Ocean Turquoise. You didn't get yours with with Vant Zant pickups in the neck and middle did you? lol. If you did I still have the Van Zant bridge. lol... I actually put the exact same pickup in the bridge on mine as the one yours has. I sold mine in 2007 and man I wish I had it back....
Aren’t those 65/68 Princeton reverb re-issues even more than the $1200 the amulet is running? Off the top of my head I I am pretty certain that the 65 at least is running $1300 anymore… (Edited to complete, got excited and posted halfway through the sentence lol)
I never thought I could became unfaithful to my 59 Gibson GA 40 but this Supro is worth a sin. One little restriction, I don' t like the reverb. I guess it' s powerful enough for club gigging.
I’ve got a cheap Harmony hand wired in Asia. I’ve had it for three years and left it on all night. It still works just fine and I haven’t even changed a tube. $399 hand wired is better the same or worse than pcb? Good Pcb or cheap?
I have a 60s Supro Spectator. Got it for $450 earlier this year. Got my 1970 twin reverb for $900 just a few months ago. I think $1200 is a bit steep for this but I'm into it.
Sounds like their Blues King 10 ... but with attenuation and the tremolo circuit they want triple the price...this will be eliminated from their lineup within 10 months. Not sure what they were thinking
Attenuation, tremolo, a Celestion Creamback speaker, much better sounding reverb, and better construction. And it’s less than twice the price, not triple lol. It’s a perfectly reasonable price honestly. Basically Supro’s answer to the Princeton with attenuation and more gain.
@@dustinglass i rarely use it. Hv nvr been able to tell a difference between the 6 watt and 15 watt srtting. Ive wondered if something is wrong with it. You gotta crank it. I use my fender superchamp x2 a lot more. The tremelos not bad but not wow.
Sounds nice, but at $1200 it is a no go because of the pcb topography. Do the tubes plug directly into the pcb? If so this nice sounding amp will not be nice sounding for long. If you want to charge a premium price you need to have a premium amp, and this is not that.
Wow. He plays guitar? Also. I’m worried he’s taller than I am. Like by a boot. But yea. It’s amazing how tiny the people whose gear has a rundown. They’re so tiny. He’s like 6’4” max.
These are made using crap construction. I’ve has 7 modern supros come through the shop in the last 11 months and have been appalled at the construction. Sound great however.

That opening playing was just breathtaking. John's playing is masterful!
I own a 1954 Valco/Supro (5 watts) that I use exclusively! Fell in love with the "one volume, one tone" vibe and never looked back.
John you are probably the most inspiring player I’ve ever heard… you have a feel that’s missing in a lot of people’s playing who just “go real fast…”
I had a late 60s Supro Statesman 2x12 separate head and speaker cabinet about 50 years ago. It was considered a low budget amp at the time. The tremolo and reverb were amazing.
If that was “I Can’t Stop Loving You” then that was a masterful arrangement. Great stuff JB!!!
I heard can’t stop loving too. In my head it’s the Conway version always
@@ol48spring Conway Twiddy?

I got the Supro Blues King last year and absolutely love that amp. Cant go wrong with Supro.
Great job JB !!! ...I was not in the market but now after this - I'm thinking u changed my mind !!!!....have a great holiday season !!!
Supro has been doing great things the last few years. I’m a proud owner of a SUPRO TROJAN S6616 I believ somewhere around 65-68? It’s amazing!
Some beautiful playing John! Super cool when demos feature playing that sounds like an actual song.
Always love Johns playing
Supro stuff is always super nice. That is a very cool little amp with killer features. Supro and Magnatone will have us sleeping in our cars, , again.
Always been interested in a Supro amp….
John, very sweet playing !!!!!!!
This amp, and the DE Longhorn Baritone you demoed…..!
@Premier Guitar
It is a supro princeton. Awesome sounds.
John, great little amp! Thanks
I’m just loving my Supro.
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Sounds wonderful John, great playing and great review…. Cool little amp.
That trem sound was dreamy
They really nailed the look of this one too
Just can't get enough of that supro sound! I'd like to see a comparison of this and the delta king
Great demo John!

Dream amp, Pro Jr. with Rev/Trem!
Another great demo.

Almost like it's a cross between the Jupiter and the 1600 Supreme
Great playing 🙌

Nice red A string on the Les Paul.
I thought something is wrong with my eyes or the screen im watching.
I only recently realized that Bollenger played like that. Always particularly tasty.
What is exactly that Stratocaster model in the beginning of the demo? Looks like maybe the 1957 American Vintage 2 stratocaster? The match with the Supro is just magical!!
I would be remiss if I didn't ask why the A string on the Les Paul was red. Great video and great sounds.
broke it on the gig last night, did a quick change with a DR I had in my bag
Great video. At what volume level do find the best of the edge of breakup?... as people like to set their amps now. Sorry if I missed it.

hope to see the new Fender Gold Foil Tele,, seems like this would be a great amp to demo it with

aside from the trem and the G10, how different from the Delta King???

That intro 😍😍😍
All Tube, what did they do, build a time machine and go back in time 60+ years?
Cool amp. Regardless , what's that weird sound when John's using the vibrato arm? Does the vega trem make that weird pitch change?
It's a flutter, you just kind of flick the arm and it does that.
Even though I tend to prefer heavier styles of guitar, I enjoy John's playing.
Funk #49 all the way with the les Paul🤘🏻

Go John! Tasty
Great Sound \m/
Does anybody knows what bridge pickup is in that strat?
The comet had an attenuator switch. down to 6 watts.
Johns the fucking demo master! Where’s this secret gear laden shack at? Lmao… love it! Sweet whip btw…fender big headstocks are the new Jazzmaster
Is that a special whammy bar or is that a Vega-trem on the Strat?
Vega Trem...love it
It's not the gear, it's the Man! That was beautiful JB!!! Great sounding little amp..... Keep on Rockin' Bruddah!!
But how loud was the 1 watt setting?
Its not built to play Slayer but pair this with any classic style guitar and I dont really see needing anything else.
Very competent amplifier, but it is too expensive for my Grandsons first amp. Very nice playing and tasty tones by the way.
Smooth as a fine Bourbon,,,,,,
So this is all tube? They're vibro king or whatever wasn't.
Dude, you are such a good guitar player. I would buy almost anything you use, lol.
Nice sound, better playing.
This amp is a better investment than Bitcoin.
also the people who own this amp won't try to tell you about it constantly like the coin bros will
