      @thabruhfrom9444 4 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      @Mordecai's Mopstick it takes much, much more than just Derrick Henry to revive the position. He only had just over 1500 yards.
      Back in the early 2000's, 5 or more backs would break 1500 yards. The days of the RB. LT21, Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson, Shawn Alexander, and Tiki Barber. RBs nowadays wouldn't last in Jamaal Lewis's day.

      tha Bruh from 94 This is why I don’t respect Frank Gore as HOF. He’s gotten by with longevity and been good but never great. This backs back in the 90’s early 00’s all had an MVP of All Pro or 1800+ yd season with 15 TD’s or so.

      I agree! If they let a guy like Frank Gore in just because of longevity then Lewis, Shaun Alexander, & Rodger Craig need to be in. All of them have something Gore doesn’t: All-Pro, MVP, Rushing title, 1000 yds rec and rushing

    • @benjaminunanaowo2929
      @benjaminunanaowo2929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Mr. Censored I wouldn’t vote Lewis in the HOF but with Gore going in, why not! There’s not one year where anyone would say Gore was the best RB in the NFL. Lewis actually was the offense on a Super Bowl team. Gore will be the only HOF RB in the modern era with no MVP, 2000 yds, All pro, or a rushing title. This ain’t the Hall of longevity. Currently after 17 years he has less TD’s than priest Holmes & Shaun Alexander who played less than 10 years.

    Jamal Lewis helped bring that smash mouth football to the Ravens. Just look at this years Ravens, they’re also a smash mouth team. Their offensive line is the best in the league and their depth at the running game is deep.

    • @matthewbittenbender9191
      @matthewbittenbender9191 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dr. Mantis Toboggan, M.D. I do t see a smash mouth running team in the Ravens this year. They may be a run first, read option, but Tennessee this year with Derrick Henry is close to what we used to be. Today the Ravens run the ball with finesse and strategy requiring many variations on formations. In many ways, it’s better than what we used to do.

    • @TheMadStork83
      @TheMadStork83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matthew Bittenbender - A team that rushed for over 3,000 yards combined isn’t smash mouth?! Have you watched the Ravens offensive line this season?
      Go back and watch the game footage from their game with New England this season and watch how they broke New England down by running the ball in the very first quarter.

    • @matthewbittenbender9191
      @matthewbittenbender9191 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dr. Mantis Toboggan, M.D. listen, doc, you might (MIGHT) be able to call it smashmouth football compared to a pass happy league with defenses that are fast and agile rather than beefy. But this is not like the Jamal Lewis days. Because the Ravens abused a Patriots defense weak on stopping the run (as we saw again last week vs the Titans) and a shared rushing load of over 2000 yds does not a smashmouth make. Nearly half of those 2000+ yards came from our QB who is not smashing mouths. Lewis has 2066 on his own in ‘03. Ingram has been a physical runner this year, but he is no Jamal Lewis or Derrick Henry. Henry is as close to Lewis you can get in today’s NFL.
      So your definition of smashmouth football is a bit generous if we’re comparing old school Ravens to new school Ravens. If we’re comparing it to today’s teams then you may have an argument, but if you watch the running styles back then where they initiated contact with defensive players then it’s not even a debate.

    • @TheMadStork83
      @TheMadStork83 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Bittenbender - and why do you think the Patriots defense line was weak last week against the Titans? Because the Ravens exposed it with their smash mouth style; starting with their oversized and powerful offensive line.
      Just because one man isn’t getting the load of all the running doesn’t take away the fact that the offensive line inflicts their mark on opposing defenses with their smash mouth run game. Their run game is deep, and deeper than any other team in the league.

    • @matthewbittenbender9191
      @matthewbittenbender9191 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dr. Mantis Toboggan, M.D. the Ravens didn’t expose it, their style just matched up well enough with them. Other teams started demonstrate that NE as weak up the middle before us but lacked the wherewithal to defeat them. The part that I think that we diverge on is the definition itself. The Ravens are comparatively less of a smashmouth team than Lewis’ day. Today they’re more dynamic than they are punishing. It’s more deception than running right over you. That part stands out when comparing old and new games.

      Yes. Most films from the 21st century were shot on 35mm film, but there is some argument on how high of a resolution that translates to digitally. It depends a lot on a variety of factors. A 1080p video has, by definition 2,073,600 pixels per frame. 35mm film, by the most conservative of estimates, equates to 4 to 16 million pixels per frame. This means that even when we get to 4K being the standard, 35mm will still be able to be upscaled to fit the display.
