@@dallasparty316 Interesting that you should talk about that. Maybe you should go compare TD's and Craig's stats first. @@andrew7taylor Roger Craig had a more productive career year in and out. TD had like 4 good years amd then fell off hard. If Td Is hall if9 fame worthy Roger Craig certainly is
I see the TD comparison and I'm just gonna remind people, Davis WAS the Broncos offense for those 4 years. Elway wouldn't have a single ring if not for Davis. When you talk about their respective careers, Craig was amazing, still a HOFer to me, but he was just one of many. This was a bad man. Before McCaffrey, before Faulk, there was Roger Craig. I hear people say he's not in the Hall of Fame because he was surrounded by Hall of Famers. My reply is this: those guys are in the Hall of Fame because of him.
He started his first 5 years as a full back so his rushing numbers were ok. The rest of his career he was a running back. So when his numbers get compared to others it's uneven against other great rbs. Especially since he doesn't break the 10,000 yard mark that seems to be the benchmark. Thelocallt. Yes a full back has similarities to a running back but a fullback has more blocking duties on running and passing plays. As well as not being the main focus in the running game or at least being split 50/50. Hence giving him a different title than rb. Fred Dean was an end-of-career pick up before Craig was drafted... so who am I forgetting.
Yeah, there were a lot of pro bowl and "hall of really good" players like Erick Wright, John Taylor, Brent Jones, and Tom Rathman. I love offensive line play and they had some studs, but not and HoF players by a long shot. Guy, Randy, Bubba and Jessey were just a few pro bowl votes among them.
Jeff Barber I’m not buying that. He’s one of the four cornerstones from that era (him, Montana, Lott, Rice) and one of the main reasons why they won four super bowl wins. He was one all four of them. Charles Haley played on the ‘88 & ‘89 teams yet he’s - rightfully - in the hall of fame so what’s their excuse for snubbing him?
I think i can be in the the hall of farmers im a great farmer
@@yeaimbackbih7017 - That was a funny way to call out an error.
@@PaulGaither I agree with your tirade except next to Craig I believe Randy Cross and Jack Reynolds both belong in the HOF.
The 49ers have always been snubbed by the non football voters. Perfect example, if any east coast team had had John Brodie for a qb and they did what the 49ers did with him at the helm, he would already be in.
Thanks again for your Love today love you San Francisco Go LiL. 49ers
9:34 the greatest run you’ve never seen
Truly one of the best all around players in the history of the game.
I hope he gets in the HOF in this upcoming one with Bryant Young and John Lynch. 🙏🏼
He definitely should be in the hall of fame. He gave the faithful so many great memories.
Another Niners player I never hear get brought up is Ricky Watters
LJTK John Taylor Merton hanks
Brent Jones
Rickey had some key chokes against the cowboys in the playoffs.
He was not around long...but like Craig...watters was the key to the 49ers offense being unstoppable.
Keena Turner, Michael Carter, Dana Stubblefield, Bryant Young, Carlton Williamson, Jeff Fuller, Wendell Tyler, Garrison Hearst, Eric Davis, TO, Haley, etc. actually it goes on and on with very talented Niner's players
It was so much fun to watch this guy work in the 80s. The guy made me happy practically every Sunday between 1983 and 1987.
Dad always be telling me roger Craig was one of the best running back lol never knew who he was until now...he should be in HOF
It was a pleasure to watch him play football. As well as the whole 49er team in the 80s
Needs to be in the Hall or Fame. It’s Bullshit that he’s not ok. First guy to 1000 receiving and rushing, he’s a 4 time Pro-Bowler, a First Team All-Pro in 85, is part of the 80s All Decade team and won 3 Super Bowls.
He was the engine that made the 49ers dominant. I’m Super Bowl XIX, Craig compiled 135 all purpose yards and 3 TDs. He was very formidable. NEEDS to be in the Hall of Fame.
That's right I started watching Craig in 1981 and fell in love with his high stepping intensity as well as his dedication to the SF 49ers. His loyalty to the team and confidence in his ability really turned me on. Only a person who has experience in sports can appreciate his talent. I want him in the Hall of Fame.
The original all purpose back. . . Chuck Foreman, Minnesota Vikings.🤔👍👍👍🏈
Roger Craig was on another level. Him, Sweetness, Eric Dickerson, & Berry Sanders were so fun to watch when I was a kid. My friends & I would play backyard football & when you were a running back & pulled off some great moves those were the guys you imagined yourself being. 📺 🏈 😃
It alludes me how he's not a HOFer smh 🤦♂️ Craig was a beast
Hall of Very Good. He didn't have dominant seasons. Two great years.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 He had 13100 total yards and 566 receptions for a so called full back. In the 80s thats HOF worthy.Plus he was the 1st guy to have 1000 yds rushing and receiving.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 over 1000 yards from scrimmage 7 times in his carrer and 73 td starting as a Fullback and changing position. You sir are...incorrect
Along with Jacob Green, Drew Pearson, and Phil Simms.
Man i REMEMBER ALL OF THIS..WHEN FOOTBALL WAS FOOTBALL..R.C...WAS THE TRUTH...MR. HIGHSTEP....
So are Full Backs not allowed in the HOF?
Actually Jim Brown, the G.O.A.T. and Jim Taylor were listed as fullbacks.
Growing up watching Craig, Montana and Rice instilled the love of football. They were my favorite players.
Why he and Drew Pearson are not in the hall of fame is beyond me. SMH
I just love how chill he is
Roger Craig #33 San Francisco 49ers (1983-1990) 7 Years Seasons With The San Francisco 49ers
8 seasons
Roger Craig has always been and will always be my favorite football player.
Roger that
we have a broken record
OVER
He's definitely the reason why I became a 9ers fan! It's amazing how Mostert runs similar to Craig. Keep it all in the family. Faithful!!!
R.I.P. John Candy
It's good to see this guy getting a little respect. He's my favorite all-purpose back
Yea....he should go to the HOF......his style of play suited the 49er's to a T.
One of the most exciting runners ever, I loved as a running back myself how he had that high leg running motion pure poetry!!!
