I’m from the Gulf Coast and this is my 3rd summer in Dallas. I’ve worked in the West Texas dessert, I’ve was born and raised further south and what I can say is that Dallas is the hottest place I’ve ever been in my life. Every summer, however, feels somewhat different though. 2020, 2022, and 2023 have all been sweltering summers, but for some reason 2021 was not unbearably hot. We even had a mail carrier die of heat exhaustion last month. Overall, Dallas is a beautiful city but I do have to say that the summer heat here caused me to switch careers entirely and take a temporary pay cut just to remain indoors. DALLAS IS HOT! 🥵

I'm planning on moving to Texas in a year. The Dallas area is top on my list. I really value all the info you share. I notice that you never mention homeless people as a deterrent. Does this mean there are not too many homeless? I'm asking because the homeless population is out of control in Sacramento California ( where I reside. ) Unfortunately, a lot of them abuse drugs and the parks/public bathrooms get trashed with drug needles, destruction, etc.

Awesome! If there is anything I can do to help with your potential move, just reach out!
There are pockets where homelessness can be bad in Dallas proper. But the extent is nowhere compared to what I’ve seen in places like California or Colorado. Also, you don’t see many homeless people in the suburbs.

I'm going to try out Denver area. I think the biggest reason people move to Texas is to avoid snow. Some people just ain't built for that kind of heat. I'd rather be fishing or on a hike than stuck inside my house because of blistering heat.

Yep, grew up in west tx, live in plano as a kid and in my early 20s its the same for anywhere in tx from 1:30pm to 4:30pm u stay out of the sun, after that its all good, get a clear uv tint on your car windshield to help with inside car temps
