- The final preparations of the patio have begun, and we can see the end of the project! This patio has been almost a two-year project from the demolition of the above-ground pool until now, and to say that we are ready to be finished is an understatement. We will be hosting a party in a few days and nothing makes you finish a project like a time crunch! Come take a walk with me through this beautiful space and stay tuned for some great drone footage so you can get the big picture of the project.

The black tubing around the grass is virtually invisible in the video. Great idea and possibly could leave in place if needed to give support to grass for the party.

We had the remnants of Ida in Delaware. Wind took out my arbor. In light of what others suffered, it is minor. One thing about gardeners, we are resilient !

I know how devastating strong winds and hard pelting rain and hail can wreck the looks of large full planters. I had to tie up several of my perennial grasses this year because of the wild weather. I feel your pain with hurricane damage, except I lost all my big backyard trees to embedded tornadoes in Dorian. I still grieve their loss, but you have to move on. Things look quite lovely. How one copes with setbacks helps to determine the success of the garden. I am sure that everyone at your party will love how your space looks. Awesome 👏 🤩

I'm in Charlotte. Luckily didn't have any damage from the remnants of Ida but definitely had the rain and wind. Beautiful space you created for the lucky couple. BTW, I did make it over last weekend. Forgotten the name of the young lady that assisted me but I had a wonderful experience with her. I will definitely be back!

Love watching your channel. Have gotten so many ideas from you all. I have a tropical hibiscus that I transplanted 2 years ago. Prior to that it bloomed beautifully but has not bloomed since I transplanted it. I live in zone 5. I trim it and bring it in every winter. It looks really healthy just no blooms.
I love the advice of planning event so your garden needs to be done by then. Look at her how much you have accomplished. It’s beautiful

The patio looks just marvelous. The overhead views at the end are so lovely. Well done. It is neat to see how you all were able to work together so well to accomplish all of that . Thank you for showing what/how you did and all that you learned along the way. I am learning a lot and have been inspired, between y'all and GardenAnswer, to try to create some lovely planting areas around our house. Have a great party, enjoying the fruit of this labor of love.
Thank you also for the porch chats with Q&A. Here are a couple of questions I have had if it isn't too late or if you are able to get to it:
1. Is the watering of the different plants just trial/error, live/learn? Most of the tags for the things I tried to plant this year read "water: normal" but I think I ended up possibly drowning some plants? Had several to turn brown, dried up and died while the soil stayed mostly moist or even really wet. I do not know what happened.
2. We are in the Charlotte area, so still zone 7. How could we amend a small rectangle area between the patio sidewalk and foundation of our house which is clay and paste like when it rains and then stays really wet, to get ready for a better spring planting?

Jenny, I feel your pain with the ornamental grass planters. I think it's happened to most of us one time or another. I have been admiring them as well in your videos. Maybe you can just wrap some of the grass around the black ties and they will blend right in. You really have to look hard to even see them. It looks absolutely beautiful!
