Laura, you can never, ever, leave this house. I just hope I'm around in 30 years to see what the garden you have designed and built looks like. I can almost imagine it. It's special now but its going to be unbelievable in the years to come when everything grows and develops. So inspiring, thank you.
I love watching Laura’s videos , but she is such an engaging person and her videos are so full of info that I think I would watch them forever. I cannot even grow a garden anymore as I live full time in an RV, BUT HER VIDEOS KEEP ME ENGAGED IN THAT WORLD. I enjoy her videos every day. Her personality (and her mothers) are infectious. How wonderful to have found her Chanel.
@@cherylh1159 ill be 71 and im looking forward to seeing this garden as an old lady 😅 Its on my bucket list. There is no age limit in gardening, Right? 🤷🏼♀️😉
I agree, Cheryl. Personal note 🎶 I like the smaller stones, even if in the middle of walkway. Gives the eye a rest from big ones. However, whatever U 2 decide will be best! But, of course. 😊
Wouldn't go with black. Because you won't be able to sit on them. Your abundant sunshine will heat them up. Even in our low sunshine times in the coastal northeast with much late afternoon and nights summer fog black furniture make it too hot to use.
Seeing your visions for the different areas of your property is so exciting. I know you mentioned it many times, but to actually see it makes so much more sense to me. I'm loving it!
How in the WORLD were you able to make that stone walkway look like it was dropped down from Heaven?!! Beautiful curves, beautiful edges….ahhh. The progress on the hardscapes is so satisfying to me, you’d think it was in my own garden!! Question- have you considered doing before and after videos? I’ve been watching for years and think it would be fun to show clips from previous years’ tours followed by update clips of the same areas. Both eye level and drone views! Thank you all for the miles of smiles every morning during coffee time! 💚💚💚👩🏻🌾
I'm loving it! Real stone as walls and pathways versus the cement blocks and pavers... there's just no comparison. The Hartley area is really taking shape to where your vision is becoming apparent to those of us not inside your head... never having a formal garden anywhere in all my years of gardening I'm excited to see how you marry the two styles together. Great job.
I’ve done small stone walkways and I am really impressed that you and Aaron are doing that huge one yourselves! It looks great ! Lots of patience required. That curve is soooo even.
That curved edge on the stone pathway is crazy perfect! So excited to see what continues to evolve around the Hartley! AND, that view behind you in your final shot was glorious with all the fall color popping !! Just beautiful Laura! Nice progress Aaron & Laura! (& Benny too!!!). 😊♥️ yay!!!! 😃
This walkway is stunning!! And the Hartley, dreamy. Can you imagine as this garden matures the photos you can take of your children here? Proms, Weddings, Family photos! An absolutely beautiful space your creating 💕 my vote is for weathered teak benches.
Has anyone else added 'buttoned up' and 'a swoop of' to their gardening vocab? While I'm in the garden I plant a 'swoop of' this and a 'swoop of' that and feel so happy to 'button up' various projects... thanks Laura for getting into my head and my vocab! 🤣
So envious of your weather. We've had nothing but rain for the last few weeks in the Highlands of Scotland.... I can't get my grass cut, or my bulbs planted...praying for a dry spell to get it all done before our first frost lol. Path is Looking fab. Such a transformation of that area xx
I'm in Highlands too and it's been dire, hasn't it!? Those last strong winds we had took down my smoke bush 😢 it was 12-13' tall and I'd staked it because of last year's wind damage. Damn wind came opposite way this time and took it clean out 🤦🏻♀️fingers crossed we can get bulbs in soon!

It’s looking so good! I’ve laid flag stone with my mom, it really is like a big puzzle. We had fun making a path and a campfire area with the stone. We were lucky that a farm house on our land collapsed and had fieldstone and flag stone everywhere.
STUNNING! This was so satisfying to watch seeing the build of the pathway! Can’t wait to see the big trees in situ. Your gifts and talents just amazes me, Laura! 😍
I’m such a visual person as well, that it wasn’t until you went inside the Hartley looking outward that I actually had that aha moment. Having a clean straight brick outline sure makes for a clear define boundary area. Once the landscape is in place its going to be so beautiful. Also, all the Fall color peeking throughout the surrounding areas around you - especially, towards the end of the video was really pretty. 💛🍂🧡🍁🤎
As always very inspiring. I have created three seating areas on my property. And I sit back and while I drink my tea I ponder my decisions if it I like it stays and if I don't I know the end of the world won't happen if I make changes same with my plants. I finally am able to part with ideas that don't quite work. Thanks again Laura and Aaron for coming into our lives.
I can't believe she says, "We don't know what we are doing." The walkway is professional and it works for your climate. It's beautiful and the Hartley progress update lifts my spirts. It's wonderful to have so much to look forward to.
It's great that you showed us the stone walkway and explained how you would fill the gaps with compost. You might have to put off installing more until the big trees are delivered and planted. I realized that I am more visual than I thought when you showed the Hartley beds. Thanks.
Looks amazing! Love, love, love the walkway and the beds around the Hartley - oh my word! If you guys ever run out of projects, I offer my yard to you! 😂You guys are amazing. I am SO behind on you and Jenny's videos - which is driving me crazy - but I know this winter when I'm hibernating I'll have some amazing content to watch to help me forget about winter 🥰 PS I love black benches especially with all of the white structures on your property.
Laura, Jack (from that beautiful Is.) would be (like we are) proud of you. How many acres do you have ? You both have fabulous plans& are an inspiration to us all. Love from Australia.
That walkway looks so good! Can't wait to see how it ends up looking when you're finished with it. It's hard to believe you could top that in one video but then you just walk over to the Hartley and surrounding garden and well, you've topped it. It's all so beautiful- congrats on creating such a wonderful space for you and your family to enjoy.
I love your use of landscape fabric! It's an item that is often overused, or used in the wrong context but you nail it! And way to only use the good stuff. That makes a huge difference for sure.
The arbor from the triangle garden would look so beautiful for the entrance of the stone path. As you continue to fill in that area with the plantings it would become a magical stroll through that garden area.
Good morning Laura, Aaron and GA friends! So excited to see the title this morning “Stone pathway & Hartley landscape update!” You have such a beautiful talent and spirit Laura! You definitely inspire me to try things in my home, garden and cooking that I’d never thought about before…Thank U!💜
That pathway does add an amazing definition to that area. One more beautiful layer. You and Aaron have put so much thoughtfulness into the Hartley...it will be an amazing space!
A suggestion for benches in the Hartley garden area. To continue the English formal garden theme, you could look at Lutyens style wooden benches. Edwin Lutyens was a famous architect who designed many English country houses and usually partnered with Gertrude Jekyll for the garden designs. You can find Lutyens benches in his typical style, which would complement your English-made greenhouse beautifully!
This is so much fun and inspirational to see the bones/infrastructure being put in place! Love the brick beds and gravel pathways. It's going to look amazing!
It is amazing to see your teamwork and I love how involved Aaron is. It makes me envious, I have so many projects I want to do (smaller scale obviously) and they just don't get done or can't agree what to do.
Same at my house, I would love an English garden with some formal spaces, the hubs doesn't like English gardens so I don't do anything. Added a few perennials this year.
It always makes me smile when Laura talks about benches to sit on and enjoy the scenery: if there is someone who is always on her toes it’s Laura! 😅 the path is lovely! That crisp edge is everything
Laura & Arron, Your stone path is looking amazing, just continue to take your time. You both have a good eye for what looks good and pleasing to your eyes. My husband and I just went to the rock yard and loaded 300lbs. of Rustic Basalt 1-3" patio stone for a garden boarder that I am working on into the back of our little pathfinder and I was spent, that heavy lifting takes a toll on the body;/ Thanks for sharing, it gives us inspiration! OMG, that stone walkway...is INSANELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! So stunning, what an impact! Great choice to put a stone path in the flower bed. Cannot get over how this looks, just absolutely breathtaking. The Hartley area is looking stunning as well! Cannot get over how many hard scapes you have created this year and what an impact that has on your gardens, it will look amazing once you get your Boxwoods in.
Good job on the walkway and absolute perfect application of landscape fabric under walkways. That's what that stuff's for! The design shapes around the Hartley are just fantastic. What a dream! Ooh, that expanse of green grass behind you is beautiful, the stone path and the area around the Hartley, the cleared out garden will look gorgeous. I am so looking forward to how it will all come together!
I love the stone walkway. Yes, it is difficult to lay but it won't get easier next year or the year after that. I always think of your kids when I see you doing a project like this. In years to come, they will walk down that path and admire you both for all your hard work.

Everything is looking so good, Laura!! I absolutely love the stones that you're using for the pathway. The color is fabulous, and that sweeping curve is perfect. Well done 💚
The way the mouth of the path flares is total class. Just loving the updates. Bench wise, wood degrades so fast. Even the teak, unless under shelter.
