Nate Morton IS the grand wizard. SO damn funky and tasty, but also so musical and technically clean and knowledgeable as well. And charismatic and fun! Fantastic fills lesson. Thanks so much for posting!
Nate has such a great feel. First timeI watched the show he was the house band drummerI instantly thought Whoa this guy is different. Such a loose yet powerful drummer.
This explains so much. I always wondered what he was doing in those fills using the hi hat and toms. Man this guy should be up there with any of the modern greats like Tony R. Jr. Aaron Spears etc... He is that good. Been my favorite drummer for years now.
oh stop that! haha.... I just go boom bap boom boom bap... OH... and I count to 4 over and over again REALLY good! -but seriously, thank you for the kind words...
nice one! some cool concepts that are easy to swallow- I even knew the concepts, but hadn't tried applying them in this way before!!! great, fun video!
It's pretty cool when I see something I've never been taught, but been playing, only to see a pro playing it. It's real nice moved around. My sticking will differ from his at times. Fl F F Sn. It sounds great repeated or moved. Very funky. I love those Masters Paistes. The 1 "pro level " line I don't have. Great sounding, and sharp looking! Great vid
Nate is so good. I remember the very first time I watched "The Voice," I noticed his drumming right away. I found out who it was and have been checking his stuff out ever since. If you haven't checked out the show, you should take a listen just to hear Nate.
I wish they would remove that limiter/compressor off the mics to hear what the drums really sound like. You can catch a quick listen hear and there. Love this guy !
Hmm... I don't know if it's called anything, but I stole it from someone in college... I feel like maybe Mark Simmons.... siiiick drummer from Houston....

Saw Nate play for Vanessa Carlton. Lovely player...
Ooof.... that was so long ago... lol... glad you enjoyed!
Good job engineer that had to pull the voice mic up and down all over the place! :)
It's always an issues in these types of drums lesson vids, isn't it.
L.A. Monsters
Only can play fortissimo. Period
Two big drummers.
One BIG drummer and me.
After the video Nate are that other drummer.
Jesus Christ, that comb-over. Kirkie-comb-over is more like it.
