Atmosphere is a huge part of games. Lighting affects that massively, so I like to trust the developers in what the lighting should be to get the best experience out of the game
you seem to forget that i know this game and i got the best skills and weaponry.... 20 mins into an area gets one shotted by boss.... well u know i got pretty far. and now i cant get out im fucked.
Miciso That's me in every RPG ever lmao. I tend to just drop the game entirely when that happens, it's bad I know but man can I just not be bothered. Happened in Two Worlds, with the wolves that I didn't even know were in the game.
Arth Banka that pretty much defines my entire experience in Witcher 3. Once I realized it actually was possible to kill monsters with skull markings I hunted them down relentlessly.
I even did that in Pokemon back in the days xD "mhm, I only have 1 Pokemon alive, better go to the Pokemon center 1 km before... nah, just save every trainer until I get defeated and forced to load and get back" xD
Great list, I actually love manuals. To me having the complete package of a game disc, box cover and game manual feels so much more complete, much more fun than a digital purchase.
I remember i’d always buy a copy of a game, then my parents would take me shopping and I sit there and read the manual, because I couldn’t wait to get home and play it :’)
I remember going into Game and trying to buy the first Uncharted. Unfortunately the man behind the counter said I wasn’t old enough so I just asked for it for a birthday present instead
My cousin tried to buy a game that he was literally a week too young to play. They wouldn't even sell it to his mom because they knew she was trying to buy it for him.
"Ignored the age rating." Not me, actually. The first M rated game I ever got, as far as I know, was the first God of War. I was twenty when that came out.
yeah i was amazed as well.... seems this was done after the initial launch to help the real newbies out. people who pre ordered and early bought it might have played it at E3 and blizzcon so i see why they did it.
How about when a game suggests you be at a certain level for a mission and you’re way under leveled but you go in anyway. I’LL DO WHAT I WAMT THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Walkthroughs With Steve Rather the opposite. Game tells me "You have to be at least level 15 before you enter", me: "What, I'm barely even level 27 - I'm NOT going in there yet!"
Walkthroughs With Steve I don't mind it for some games because it gives me a challenge and a good reward rather than grind to breeze through it. Although I did accidentally do that with Xenoverse 2 lol. I was like level 6 before doing the 2nd battle because I did a bunch of training missions with Krillin
Every time I put my vr headset on I hear my passed on nan saying "don't sit to close to the television you will get square eyes" and here I am putting mini tvs next to my eyes 😉
Only game I camped in, was World of Tanks, when I was in a sentry tank that's purpose is to say in 1 spot and scan for other tanks and tell your team where to go.
I occasionally play a COUPLE of the tutorial levels, like when I played TF2 i played through a few but after I completed like the beginner levels for the mandatory i jumped in with scout and died immediately like a true gamer
im a bit ashamed to have died during a turtorial (it was elite dangerous) i mean seriously i could barely even get the ship to move WITH the tutorial much less dodge the astroid.
RedValkyrie 84 Same, though in my case it's having a job that's screwing things up. Just being an adult in general kind of sucks when it comes to gaming.
Oh if only I could but i think AC Origins might traumatise her!! Gaming is my escape, something that harks back to before I was someones mum and reminds me that I am more than just someones mum. Its even harder at times as I’m a stay at home parent and get next to no downtime to decompress.
RedValkyrie 84 There's loads of games that you could play with your child. At the moment me and my younger sister are playing witcher 3, she absolutely loves open world games. Always start them young!
Back in my day, we had manuals for every game. And there were codes in the manuals to let us play the games so we could prove we weren't pirates. And we loved the manuals, because they were actually cool. The manuals showed us pretty pictures of what the items and equipment we got in game actually looked like, because in the games they looked like pixelated blurs. The manuals told us the back-story, because they couldn't fit those on the games. The manuals told us what all the status effects were, and what special moves there were, and what spells we could get, and classes, and things like that. And the funny thing is, all of that is true. I miss my manuals. I still have some.
Meh, before the days of the internet, they worked pretty well. No scanning a copy of the whole manual and just zipping it up with the disc image for all your friends on PirateBay. Plus, it gave you something to read while Mom or Dad drove you home from the mall.
HA! Love it! If there was a rule of "Don't swear at the top of your voice after dieing on Crash Bandicoot for the millionth time when your dad's in the next room watching TV because you'll get your PS1 taken off you for a week" I'd probably still have broken it 😁
Thank guys - all your videos are awesome! Only found you about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and have been going through the back catalogue on TH-cam - so far on episode 37 of Access Granted (LOL) Wish your app was available here in Canada (Hamilton - WOO!), but guess I'll have to settle with browsing on my t.v. Keep up the awesome work - love everything you're doing (this even includes the videos for squad goals and 301 club - ha!)

I remember a game had a user agreement that when you hit the bottom and held down the down button, it takes you back to the top and doesn't let you go forward unless you go back to the bottom.
I read manuals. "How did you do that?!" I read the manual.
Me too sometimes
I read some manuals out of boredom, and Smash Bros. manuals because I can't remember the damn buttons.
Ironically, the one that I actually do follow is the lighting one 😂
It honestly makes the game better
@@elfrijolito4659 no
Hurts my eyes to play in the dark.
Atmosphere is a huge part of games. Lighting affects that massively, so I like to trust the developers in what the lighting should be to get the best experience out of the game
It’s actually bad for your eyes if there’s glare on the computer screen lol
There is only one rule to follow in gaming: have fun
John Barna But Rules Are meant to be broken, so it’s a bad rule...
Rules are like laws, there just suggestions. Like that stop sign, don't need to follow that. Pfft
corny af
what are you? A 7 year old?
@@hamsandwich7986 if it has a white border it's a stoptional sign 😉

I turn down brightness for my eyes
Same...
Hey... I do too
honestly who doesn't?

Absolute mad lad
Mr Poool 🃏
No, he's unit.
your reaction to the 'take a 15 minute break after every hour'...NAILED IT
Not exactly a rule but
Game: You need to be level 31 for the quest
My lvl 23 character : You underestimate my power
you seem to forget that i know this game and i got the best skills and weaponry....
Don’t try it... YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!
Great list, I actually love manuals. To me having the complete package of a game disc, box cover and game manual feels so much more complete, much more fun than a digital purchase.
EBD 87 I agree with you there
EBD 87 Agreed. I always prefer to buy a physical copy.
Totally agree.
I remember i’d always buy a copy of a game, then my parents would take me shopping and I sit there and read the manual, because I couldn’t wait to get home and play it :’)
MetalGamer right?! Game manuals back then actually gave you a little bit of exposition on the plot!
15 minute breaks are for the weak
15 minute breaks are for the week?
Andrew Peterson ?
What type of gamer takes 15 minutes break it only 5 seconds breaks the rest playing
Get a life
I take a break between the time it takes to load the next game
Literally more than 2 years later but GOD is this a mood. Especially the 15 minute break every hour of gameplay. That cracks me up.
I remember going into Game and trying to buy the first Uncharted. Unfortunately the man behind the counter said I wasn’t old enough so I just asked for it for a birthday present instead
Years later this current 12 year old did the same thing with the 4th one😂😂
No Name Well that’s just sad
My cousin tried to buy a game that he was literally a week too young to play. They wouldn't even sell it to his mom because they knew she was trying to buy it for him.
Thats stupid, legally they can't police what a parent allows their kids to play. Your aunt should have demanded to talk to the manager.
my mom got so pissed when i asked the guy at gamestop i was looking for resident evil 7, she didn’t want to make a scene so i got it anyways :)
"Ignored the age rating."
Not me, actually. The first M rated game I ever got, as far as I know, was the first God of War. I was twenty when that came out.
I played Mortal Kombat at age 5. Keep in mind this was before age ratings existed.
I’ve played a T rated game since I was 2 or 3
You guys are absolute mad lads
I played MW2 at age 9. So the are restriction was double my age.
darkwzrd4 I’m ten 90% of all my games are 18+
“Ya DONT get concerned parents barging into screenings of the last Jedi” I have subscribed
The first rule is don't talk about the rule book, Rule 2 is don't talk about Rule 1.
Rule 3 is don’t talk about rule 34.
Rob: You don’t see me using the training mode in overwatch!
Me: There’s a training mode in overwatch?
yeah i was amazed as well.... seems this was done after the initial launch to help the real newbies out. people who pre ordered and early bought it might have played it at E3 and blizzcon so i see why they did it.
Miciso no it was in the beta too
Oh Dave, have you ever worked out what percentage of your week you spend wearing that dress?
thebiggeez I'm sure he would, but I imagine it's a pretty depressing percentage
thebiggeez I do it also and change them later if I want too
I bet he wears it on the weekends even when Rob's not making Friday features.
I bet he has multiple copies of the same one. In case you are concerned about if it is a fresh one each week.
Wait, What? That's Dave in a dress?
how is this guy not in jail yet for his haneus crimes
Ryder Bossman he is a refuge
5:51 thats so relatable...my dad got mad today because yesterday I was playing AC Odessey at 3am lol
3AM!? BUT THAT'S IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!!

My mum never let me have GTA San Andreas. Thank God for my uncle who let me play it everytime I went over. Hehehehe
Eros Morellix you must've gone to your uncle's alot 😂😂😂
A S Indeed I did haha
My mom bought me San Andreas then watched me play it...
I did the same but with cod waw
Eros Morellix wtf go study kid
I have one: "Press the Option-Butten to start the game" Who else press always X first? (and about 90% of the time the game starts anyway!)
And if it doesn't start, then you know what you're getting yourself into. Deus Ex comes to mind...
start
How about when a game suggests you be at a certain level for a mission and you’re way under leveled but you go in anyway. I’LL DO WHAT I WAMT THANK YOU VERY MUCH
For me that depends entirely on how good I am at the game. And in most cases that means I avoid anything that's even slightly above my level.
Walkthroughs With Steve Rather the opposite. Game tells me "You have to be at least level 15 before you enter", me: "What, I'm barely even level 27 - I'm NOT going in there yet!"
Walkthroughs With Steve omg the witcher 3 just straight going to skellige and getting killed instantly
When I first start a game, I usually want to be 1 or 2 levels above the recommended level
This guy has got to be the greatest mad lad that's ever lived. What a maverick.
"Take a fifteen minute break every hour" I was dieing of laughter for about 27 minutes
Then there's me, who kinda has to at least stretch every once in a while to avoid pressure sores and joint pain. I'm just like, "yeah, I do that."
I’ll give you an eighth rule:
No running in the halls
R6 i see you
Every time I put my vr headset on I hear my passed on nan saying "don't sit to close to the television you will get square eyes" and here I am putting mini tvs next to my eyes 😉
i thought u where clever and put them in front of your eyes... ur gran is right ur eyes are messed up u put the headset on the side of ur head.
I think I'll play for 8 hours and then just take a break while sleeping all at once
1. Don't camp
2. Don't ALWAYS use OP guns
3. Don't camp
4. Follow the rules
5. Don't camp
6. Don't jump on every kill
7. Don't camp
dont spawnpeek as jager with his op primary
Only game I camped in, was World of Tanks, when I was in a sentry tank that's purpose is to say in 1 spot and scan for other tanks and tell your team where to go.
AMY HOARD only game I camp in is battlefield 1 because I’m a sniper and snipers don’t run around in the front line
Camping is a legit tactic, unless it's a team game and just being done for stat padding and not helping the team.
Don't teabag dead bodies.
Don't camp
Don't exploit
Don't camp
Don't play out of order
Don't camp
Lol. "Immerse me!"
Kris Smith I totally do that lolol
I think I need “IMMERSE ME” on a T-shirt
Fortunately as a lawyer I can tell you that they aren’t allowed to put sneaky clauses in the end user agreement. 👍👍
Im annoyed that it wasnt allowed to skip the tutorials in Pokémon
Team Fortress 2 or Titanfall 2
My brother. Let us go beat hoovys

Nah, reading the manual as Mom finished shopping or on the done home or whatever was the best part!
Nero Schwartzmann I agree wholeheartedly. Those were the days
yeah i remember reading through quite a few manuals like that
How dare you spend 9 hours reading an entire manual?
I read through all smash brothers manuals ...
Pls help me
Nero Schwartzmann I love games that come with manuals.
God I miss all day gaming marathons. Being a parent really puts a crimp in that
RedValkyrie 84 Same, though in my case it's having a job that's screwing things up. Just being an adult in general kind of sucks when it comes to gaming.
Make your child play too, real lifehack
Oh if only I could but i think AC Origins might traumatise her!! Gaming is my escape, something that harks back to before I was someones mum and reminds me that I am more than just someones mum. Its even harder at times as I’m a stay at home parent and get next to no downtime to decompress.
RedValkyrie 84 There's loads of games that you could play with your child. At the moment me and my younger sister are playing witcher 3, she absolutely loves open world games. Always start them young!
I haven't watched this yet but, i guarantee i have broken all of these.
Game manuals used to be super fun to read. Now they're just legal gobbledygook with a controller map at the beginning.
There was a manual!!!!?
What's a manual?
Back in my day, we had manuals for every game. And there were codes in the manuals to let us play the games so we could prove we weren't pirates. And we loved the manuals, because they were actually cool. The manuals showed us pretty pictures of what the items and equipment we got in game actually looked like, because in the games they looked like pixelated blurs. The manuals told us the back-story, because they couldn't fit those on the games. The manuals told us what all the status effects were, and what special moves there were, and what spells we could get, and classes, and things like that.
And the funny thing is, all of that is true. I miss my manuals. I still have some.
Colin Smith
These manuals sound strange
Makes sense why they no longer longer exist since they didn't stop pirates in the first place
Meh, before the days of the internet, they worked pretty well. No scanning a copy of the whole manual and just zipping it up with the disc image for all your friends on PirateBay.
Plus, it gave you something to read while Mom or Dad drove you home from the mall.
I thought games still had manuals tbh I never look at them though so I wouldn't know
unstrap the wiimote
NO
Morgan Spooner i see you like living on the edge...
I literally laughed out loud at the take 15 min breaks every hour.
I feel like Rob was set loose with this one with the only instruction being “have fun”
“Adjust brightness until the -middle- far left symbol is barely visible”
Rob's Mom should do a Friday Feature somehow.
Spin-off game list would fit. There's even one for the MGS board :)
The MGS board wasn't updated... did it burn to death?
In the future they should make voice acted agreements at the beginning that you cannot skip and must hear the whole thing.
I would take a 15-minute break while the voice is telling me about how not to behave in the chat
Lol that's horrific.
I'd listen to the fallout one, if it was by Ron Perlman
you're a special kind of monster aren't you?
Uknow ppl will just leave room, take shower, piss wxt come back next.sad but real
HA! Love it! If there was a rule of "Don't swear at the top of your voice after dieing on Crash Bandicoot for the millionth time when your dad's in the next room watching TV because you'll get your PS1 taken off you for a week" I'd probably still have broken it 😁
That was one of the best Friday features, well done Rob!! Still remember MGS4 nagging me to take that 15 minutes brake every hour...yeah right... :)
I only play tutorials when I haven’t watched enough of it on TH-cam
These are less “rules” and more “gentle guidelines”
Bloody pirates!
I laughed along side Rob on that 15 minute break part XD... I play 4 hours non stop... longest break I take is a bathroom break.
Chris Davidson 4 hours non stop? That's rookie numbers
Meanwhile I just spent 12 hours finishing up 100%'ing Kingdom Hearts 1 on PS4, I have no life and I don't care. ;P
Nekotori Full time Jobs suck!! If I had Rob's job I would called that breakfast
I just did a 19 hr marathon on yakuza 0 lol 4 hrs.

Its treason then.

Its treason, but he talks about games that are available on XBox as well sometimes, so its ok. Just dont say that PlayStation is better than xbox

@The Old Deus hello there
32 hours straight playing Final Fantasy X when I first bought it with only 3 breaks, 2 for the bathroom, one for dinner lmao and no lights on in the room lol
When I read the title I thought at first that this was going to be one of those exaggerated videos but it wasn't! This is actually true!
You Rob... You are an ABSOLUTE MAD LAD
Take a break after every hour? Are you kidding me? Who has ever done that? I've never gotten sick or had anything wrong with me :P
Adam Block I still remember reading that in the odd psp manuals back in the day.
Was comtemplating about it like: well, what if we make it a break of an hour every four hours? Not that ever concilisly happened either
Well I have gotten sick but that's only for games that are so addictive I play them from 8 am to 8 pm (such as The Sims) on PC where I'm even closer to the screen at all times than on a console.
MinimiMax lol. Well I can see that. If it's too long. But I don't think an hour break is necessary. Lol.
I always do the training missions in fighting games, then I hit the "I'm never going to be able to do this" combo, and never finish them.
