Kim Gordon being 70 and still releasing music is just fucking crazy to me, not only the act of putting music out there but also staying ahead of relevant sounds is just so awe inspiring. One of the coolest artists out there rn imo

He's said in his Pitchfork Top Albums of the 80s tier list that he considers Daydream Nation to be one of the worse Sonic Youth albums so it probably won't be that one.

The year is young, but The Collective is at least in contention for my album of the year.
It's really great that there are websites that shows newly released music. Saw her album there, and liked it. Now I'm glad that it's reviewed here.

I think you nailed it with your descriptions. I find the juxtapositions in the production to be really fascinating. 8 fits for me too.
I loved this album when I first heard it, then it grew off when I realized how on the nose and somewhat uninspiring the lyrics were

i honestly didn't mind the lyrics for whatever reason even if she's kinda just yapping the fascinating production kept me engaged
that's just par for the course for any boomer musician though.

I have been watching hand saw that she was selling her old cloths some moths ago. She is just and inspiration to all. And daughter of her and Thurston looks lots like Chloe Sevigny, 90's it girl, and acts cool in her videos. Still an influence!

hearing some of the experiementation they did with Sonic Youth side project - Ciconne Youth - whitey album in this... sound walls , experimental etc. She was already thinking about some of this in 1988. March of the Ciccone Robots & G-Force, Macbeth for example.
