- The Imperial Landing Craft is seldom seen in Star Wars however we have two LEGO sets of it to compare! The first LEGO Star Wars Imperial Landing Craft released in 2007 as set no. 7659 & more recently it was remade in 2018 as set no. 75221! Each Landing Craft has a unique set of Minifigures and play features. LEGO designers made a lot of changes with the 2018 model that are great improvements and interesting to see compared to the completely different 2007 set!

Missing context. He held the 2018 by its weak spot before he said it was its weak spot. The only pieces that broke off the 2018 model were the pieces he wasn’t supposed to hold by; the reason he held it by them a few times was the muscle memory from holding the 2007 model that way. He was able to flip the 2018 model 360 by the fin and it didn’t break. He didn’t “break” the older model because he was a lot more cautious with it, and if he lifted by the fin it was a centimeter at most. You can hold the 2018 model by the rear easily and comfortably too, the best way to hold the ship. If you swooshed the old model like he did with the new model the fin would be jeopardized and the weakly set pieces within the holding compartment would be flying around inside. The new model is objectively more sturdy. Don’t believe me? Try a drop test
I enjoy the 2007 minifigures because then the set is a pseudo battle pack

The wing mechanism trade off isn’t a loss in value, for reasons stated in the video. Agreeably the ballistae in the older model are much cooler and more functional than the new stud shooters. That said its green accent “buttons” don’t flow with the set nearly as well as the perfectly blended black/red shooters on the cockpit in the newer version. And the black spheres intertwined with the white blocks around it is a huge hit/miss appearance wise, while again the stud shooters are seamless and easily removable if you so choose. Ballistae gets points for the ability for stormtroopers to use them as base defense weapons on the drop off. Also figures can use the ramp on the new model, I’m not sure what you mean by saying otherwise.
Fun fact, this vehicle made its first appearance in the _Shadows of the Empire_ video game and was added to episode IV in a later special edition.

Without any nostalgia goggles at all (I have neither set) 2007 takes the cake. The foldout wings, missiles, and bombs are just so sick
I honestly think the 2007 one is much better between minifigs and playability. The 2018 set really only looks better

The Imperial Pilot in the 2018 Landing Craft is from the 2014 Star Destroyer Microfighter. The 2018 pilot had the newer Imperial cap.
Always had a soft spot for the 2007 release and always wanted it looking at the catalogs back then
Hey Ryan! I don’t mean to be “that guy” but, the long sloped white pieces on the nose of the 2018 landing craft are upside down. You put them to where they are sloped on the top, their supposed to be sloped on the bottom. Sorry again.

You had the wrong cap for the imperial shuttle pilot. It’s supposed to be the same from the Krennic’s shuttle microfighter.
I think the 2018 one would be great if it where $70 and had 4 Sandtroopers instead of Kenobi and r2 which really doesn’t go well with it

the old one had that feel the the AT-OT and Dropship lego set did, and i loved that those two sets were the only ones that had that feel of having 2 vehicles kind of act like they transformed (at least in star wars)

I don’t completely agree with the 2018 one being more accurate mainly because of the wings feature. In the movies and shows the wings go down seamlessly but on the 2018 one they go down in sections and not seamlessly like the 2007 one. Also I believe that the playability of the 2007 one far surpasses the 2018 one because of how many features it has, it has the beautifully integrated giant spring loaded shooter, a feature to drop bombs, and a feature to literally make it a DROP ship by letting you DROP the troop area. But hey this may just be my nostalgia talking, great vid keep up the good work!
Not sure if you noticed but you put together the nose of the 2018 version wrong, if you look up an image you’ll realize that it is suppose to be flat. However you have put 4 pieces upside down resulting in the nose to slant downward after the windshield. But great video :)

First time I saw these landers, they were featured in Rogue Squadron, then I saw them in Episode IV. They also day viewed in several games.

They give us these big trooper carriers and then never give us battle packs along with them. But woo 10 Clone Battle packs in 10 Years, that's equality

I think for sets like this that are designed to carry a few troopers, they should have one trooper to fill each space, and for most they should also come with at least one figure to fight them

This was made on my birthday last year
Looking at the two versions of the Landing Craft, I feel like a hybridized version of both sets would be interesting.
Imagine the 2018 version with the launchers, bombs and detachable troop bay from the 2007 version.
The shuttle would still retain the look of the 2018 version with the deployable loading ramp and adjustable wings.
The minifigures should be four stormtroopers, two regular and sandtroopers as well as an Imperial Pilot to pilot the shuttle.

My OCD is nagging me, the wings on the 2007 version are backwards. The angled parts should be on the back of the wings not the front.
have yet to find a comparison vid where the old set has won literally more than 1 category. it makes sense that the newer ones are better, but not really a point in comparing to find which one's better

I enjoy the 2007 one for its play features but obviously I like the 2018 one for design and stability. I’m going to have to go with the 2007 one because I think that little kids would really enjoy the bombing run that you can do.

Honestly the old one seems a little better, the design can be fixed with some extra plating. Also it’s only ~$80 used and complete on eBay

Don't you just love it how everyone hates the stud shooters because they're bulky and aren't too accurate, but somehow love the Technic shooters which are the size of a tank and fire massive black projectiles?

I have the 2007 still a good ship. Clearly better playbility with the fact it drops bombs has shooters has a interior that can store weapons and can be a command post and cargo shuttle just like that. 2018 has stud shooters and a ramp...........
You gotta remember the shuttle model from episode 4 looks very different from the one in star wars rebels the 2018 one is based off too. Also 2007 one doesn't break that easily since it never broke while you were holding it lol.

It's worth noting that this ship was only seen in Episode IV beginning with the Special Edition, where it was digitally added. It did not exist in the original EP IV.

I had the older landing craft that i modded to hell, new landing gear, cockpit, opening ramp, basically upgrading everything so just for its ease to modify, 2007 is my favourite
