Hey everybody, Great News! I sent an email to Lego about a 501st Battle Pack and got a response back saying that they were *HANDING THE IDEA OFF TO THE DESIGN TEAM!!!!!!!!!* Merry Christmas...
@@txmqalfpdiq No joke! I sent them an email about the 501st battle pack and I got a response saying I should make it an ideas project. Don't mean to be a buzzkill, but "handing it off to the design team" is just customer service bs. But in all honesty, I'm keeping hopes up for it nonetheless...
The 2003 is a right classic, but the 2018 is pretty much superior. One of my favourite ideas for this set, albeit looking a bit strange, is that it is made to look like the actual cloud City building.
one thing about the new carbonite is that the actual scene isnt just han just being encased in carbonite immediately, but hes gradually lowered into the pit where he is encased then comes back up gradually. in a way the older set does that dramatic but better. the flip is a bit anticlimactic. though the new one seems smoother
For those who are saying "the old one is better for nostalgia! The new ones will never amount to anything compared to the originals", I feel bad for you. I understand that the originals give you nostalgia, but that doesn't make it better. This is a perfect example of that. Just because something is "old but gold" doesnt mean it's better than what it has become. The new one is bigger, looks better, comes with the ships that the original SHOULDVE had, has more figures, has more playability, etc. In other words, stop hating on newer and better remakes of sets that give you nostalgia.
I know I'm a year late however you're forgetting the old one wasn't as expensive as the new. Nowhere near as expensive actually. The new one should have ships, hell, it should have everything. Which is does. The older was a 100 dollar price point, which can be upgraded with 30-35 dollars with the ships. The ships honestly shouldn't have been included unless it's price was higher for the old.
I agree. You can have nostalgia if you compare the crappy 2020 AAT to the excellent 2009 edition, but sometimes you just have to look past the nostalgia and see the beauty in newer sets. Most newer sets have more sleek designs, better colors, more structural integrity, more accuracy, and more functions. I've had to deal with my own nostalgia from the first star wars set I got: the 2000 edition Trade Federation MTT. I've come to accept that some of the newer ones are much better.
I feel like this works better as less of a comparison, but more as a showcase of just how far Lego has come. Still a great video, and both sets are still stellar.
Your way of comparing them is absolutely awesome! I think your 5 points tackle everything in the comparison of different sets. I think that it's be cool if you rated them on a five or ten point system, but either way great comparison videos!!
I think the newer set could have been a bunch of different, smaller sets that could all connect nicely, while having hinges to open up for easier play.
Growing up with the original cloud city, I have had so many memories just playing with it. But with the new one, it was just really fun building it and remembering all the fun that I had with the old one. I realize that I will never have the memories that I had with the old one, but I would have to say its my favorite.
