3 color ringbolt hitching- "V" pattern

This tutorial demonstrates 6 stranded ringbolt hitching in 3 colors. This produces an arrow or "V" shaped pattern.

I really appreciate this video, came along just as my new walking stick arrived
Roughly speaking, how much cord will i need per inch (25mm) of wrap?
I know you will try to give a non-commital reply, but i plan to do a 7-8 inch (175-200mm) wrap, i get it will depend on thickness of stick - about an inch and a half (37mm) - and i understand you will be guessing, all that being said i would like a rough estimate, i dont want to cut off 10feet of 3 cords only to find i only needed 5 feet
