In The Innocents she played Miss Giddens to perfection and should have received an Oscar for that alone, or at least a nomination. However, her long, successful career speaks for itself. I'm currently watching "An Affair to Remember" with Miss Kerr and Cary Grant and so I popped over here to youtube to see what I could find...... I'm floored that she like Cary Grant never actually won an Oscar. The travesty's of the world! I simply can't believe a woman who set the bar for grace and elegance had to wait until the end of her life to be respected correctly. Even if a viewer was younger and perhaps not familiar with Ms. Kerr's full body of work, Glenn Close's eloquent intro, the montage of film clips and that last music cue and close-up frame immortalizing Ms. Kerr forever... you knew someone special was about to enter.

She was a very talented and versatile actress who even while playing morally dubious characters managed to always maintain an air of grace and poise. It's a travesty she never won an oscar after being nominated 6x and it's hard to see her so fragile here but she's clearly moved by this award. And through it all, she always maintains that typical sense of elegance & class. A truly magical lady!

I remember being moved by her back in the 90's watching this broadcast live, but it's even more moving today. Deborah Kerr always gave beautiful performances, but it's so wonderful to see what a beautiful person she herself was, inside and out.

Just flicked over a TV station now in the uk and she appeared as Emma in Barbara Taylor Bradford's "Hold The Dream" - which was made around 1986 - and funnily enough Liam Neeson plays an elderly gentleman named Blackie

Sure, she's the quintessential lady, but what I always thought was overlooked were her subtle sense of humour and sensuality. In my humble opinion, that's what made her such a brilliant choice in THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA.
I absolutely love Deborah Kerr! She was wonderful in "Tea & Sympathy" as well as "Night of the Iguana". This award was way long overdue. What a splendid career!

The one thing I admired most about Debrah Kerr was she had the guts & morality to tell the truth of who was really singing & the world would never had known it was Marni Nixon's singing voice that did so many dubings. Bless you for telling the truth about it & giving credit to a incredible voice that no one would have ever known it was her.
She even worked together with Marni to make the dubbing seamless. What a superior human being. Not holding a grudge against Marni like Audrey or Natalie Wood.

About time too when i was young the sundowners was released and i was so jealous of michael anderson jr because i would loved to have had this part as there were so many excellent scenes with miss kerr and also with my other favorite glynis johns it was never meant to be . They both should have won awards for this film
