Brings it all home mate and shows you life is far to short. What a lovely thing to do to be on the broads which are a special place for alot of us, respect to you and rest in peace to your Dad. Your right cherish your family.
Robin, It is a very good thing that you are doing to come to the life that your father shared with you and now you are sharing with him and God. Your father is smiling with you and the boat. There needs to be a Boards boat named after your father. You remind me of Peter of the Chronicles of Narnia who always moved onward and upward! Beautiful boat by the way! My name is Pat and I live in Soldotna, Alaska. This place is onward and upward! Pat
So sorry to hear about your dad. Losing a loved one is traumatic. I lost my husband very suddenly in December. Then I fell ill myself and had 2 surgeries. Your videos kept me going in hospital and helped me to focus my mind on positive things. 2 months after my last surgery and I am still housebound recovering and grieving. I thank you so much for these fantastic Videos! I really love your sense of humour! Keep up the good work! All my thoughts are with you and Sheila during this difficult time.
What a brilliant tribute. It seems like there is no other place you could have been...everything your Dad brought you up to know and love, I'm sure he would have wanted you to be there and what a fantastic place to remember him and take time for yourself. Good on you. I'm 38 in July and totally agree with everything you've said. If I see you on the broads I'll buy you a beer.
Hello Robin First of all my sincerer condoleances on the loss of your farther. I started boating on the Broads in the 1960s and have so many fond memories. My children were as you brought up to holidays on the Broads and as they are grown into adults still reflect on the wonderful times we had together. The first boat i can remember was from Windboats i think was at Wroxham. Since that early years i have hired over20 boats from several yards. Some good some not so good but the memories are all good. The fantastic boats on offer this year are just draw dropping and i wish these boats were on offer in my time. But on reflection wouldn't have missed the old wooden boats , thick blankets freezing cold but great. I was talking to my wife about the early days and we both agree given a choice we would have the new boats. Good luck for the future on the Broads we will be watching every blog as we have since you started. We also owned our own boat for three years a 26 ft birchwood called "Sundowner" so keep an eye out for her, again many happy memories .A sincere thank you Robin and remember you may be encouraging new people to the wonderful Broads but you are bringing lots of happiness to those of us who are no longer able to go . Many Many Thanks David Wright.
Been following you for a few years now Robin, your enthusiasm for the Broads has been infectious for myself & my partner Steve. Sending our condolences to you, your Mum & family. A very poignant blog. Thankyou for sharing your personal views. Keep on Keeping on 🙂
Thank you - I'm pleased now I was honest and opened up about things. The next several videos go with this theme of reflection so are a little different to others
I totally understand that. We love your blogs and totally respect the thought that goes into them. The 'Serenade' ones will be very special to you and I personally feel beneficial also to you as it is your passion to visit the Broads. Good for the soul. Keep well & 'Thankyou' again for your honesty & humour too 🙂
Hi robin sorry about your father. My old man took me as a kid on the broads and always been fond of this place because of him. He was born at berney arms, as a child he lived in the cottages next to the mill. I came up recently and went past the mill and made me think back to the times we had. But I do thank him for introducing me to this magical wetland norfolk broads has always been my home. I'll never stop coming back. You are right in a sense that it keeps drawing you back and you can't explain why. Love watching your blogs mate, based a decision on what boat to choose for my holiday back in June on your reviews and blogs. Thanks for the advice and reviews helped us very much.
Hi Robin, sorry for your loss, i went through the same with my mother a few years ago, it amazed me where she found the strength to fight I have been watching your video's for a number of years now and to be honest it was watching your videos that made me take my family including my parents on a holiday on the broads. I have since got the bug and have been going every year now since 2011. I love the way you can relax on the broads and forget about the rest of the world.
Well done on sharing. I know how hard it is to loose your dad. We scatted my dad at Ranworth 9 months after he passed away where he wanted to go. My hat goes off to you
Sorry to hear about your Dad, I hope that he enjoyed his life, one cannot better that. Always a sad time when a life comes to an end, but it's what they do. I lost my mum 2 years ago, and Dad last October, but in many ways they are still with us, and in my thoughts from time to time every day. Things they'd have liked, things that would have annoyed them etc. Often I find myself thinking that I'll tell dad or mum about something when I see them next, before I remember that I can't! That's probably a good thing! I have watched several of your blogs and they are always a pleasure. My experience on The Broads is two family holidays we had in 1967 and 1968, both were wonderful and I have always thought I'd return but never have, your blogs are like returning in a way, and who knows I might one day, something to look forward to perhaps. '67 we hired "Toby Eight" at St Olaves, and '68 We hired "King of Hearts" from Thorpe Nr Norwich. Both passed under Potter Higham which had a sign along the lines of "Only pilots can pass through this bridge" "Lucky I'm a pilot" said dad who took us neatly though (he flew aircraft, mainly RAF Chipmunks back then, and it was when taking one to Coltishall for servicing that he noticed The Broads and hence our holidays there). Anyway, thanks for your blogs and I hope you keep making them, they are appreciated!
Sorry to hear of your loss robin,i lost my best friend last year to cancer, like your father a very strong man ,who didnt complain or want to worry anybody. My friend Trevor loved the broads, like myself and yourself,in fact ive lost count of how many hours of pleasure boating and fishing we had together on the broads. His dear wife thought it was only fitting to scatter his ashes in the broads,so every time i go up the river ant,i still say hello to my mate and raise a glass.Keep up the blogs and maybe see you on broad ambition..oh ps not as many trips to lathams now
my mum loved the norfolk roads, when she died - just before our broads holiday we still went, we took her ashes and spread them in the water so she would be forever in the place she loved.
what a pleasure to watch this video Robin, so sorry for your loss. It is a great place to be to reflect. We are off again in two weeks time for a fortnight on San Fernando. love to you and sheila, Stuart and Irene Bull,Co Durham
Robin, first of all very sorry to hear of your recent loss and you have my sincerest sympathy and best wishes. So much of what you said in your wonderful tribute to your Father struck a chord with me having recently lost both my Mum and Dad in similar circumstances, and my Dad made our family love Cornwall in the same way yours made you love boating. I visit Cornwall every year, camping on my own, I walk, reflect, relax, talk to strangers but don't get sad, just grateful for his influence into who I am.I've probably watched all of your videos after falling in love with the broads after my wife and I visited for the first time about 7 years ago, and boy have I learnt a lot watching them....in fact, without a doubt, it was you who made me realise I could do boating on my own. My thanks for that, would love to bump into you on the rivers one day and shake hands as a thank you for the help you probably don't realise you give.Me and my wife will be up there in a couple of weeks, and for a couple of nights will have my Daughter and Grandson on board, maybe the Rascal of the future.Once again, I wish you well.
Sincere condolences for your loss Robin. Have watched all your blogs now and could see the close relationship you had with your Dad. I'm on the Broads on Swan roamer next week, I'll be thinking of you both and will raise a glass to you in the bridge.
Hi Robin. I've never responded to your blog before, though I have watched these many times being an avid boater myself. I deeply respected what you had to say about your father, as my father also introduced me to boating when I was young, and I lost him a few years ago. The Broads are truly therapeutic and we are on it often. I am sure we will bump into each other (not literally) at some point. Every blessing. Cliff
Hi Robin, Sorry to hear about your Dad and thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us all. Please accept our condolences to You your Mum and Family, our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Kind regards, Bob and Ying.
Sorry to hear about your dad, the Broads is the perfect place to take time out and reflect on the good times you had with him. Will look out for you when we are there in August.

Just watched the First blog. In Regards to your Dad. I last came on the broads when I was just over 11. We had many happy times with family and my Dad always wanted to return. Hi Robin I am so sorry to hear that your Dad was called home. I lost my wife to cancer 15 yrs ago on march 13th after only 9 months she was only 45, so you have my sincere condolences. I have to say I do like the new start to your blogs, very dynamic. I am hoping to bring my motor yacht back to the broads this year as it is a while since I was on the broads on my own boat, oulton curlew. I will only be able to cruise the southern broads due to her size. She is a 65 foot Canados, so hope to see you this season sometime if your on the southern broads. RIP to your Dad. warmest regards Phil
I think it's the right place to be just get away from it all clear your head & reflect on the good/bad etc.sorry for your loss. Nice boat I'll wait till its older & cheaper though before I rent it. Doesn't stop me watching all the blogs though.keep up the good work..
Hey Robin, sad news about your Father passing, sending love to you and your Mum and Sheila.. really enjoyed this blog, amazing boat and we'll give you a wave if we see you xx
hi Robin so so sorry to hear this very sad news I'm in tears here listening and watching the video as I know exactly what your going through with your loss as I lost my mother in law in January however we wasn't expecting it but after she passed away we found out she had cancer and not one of us knew about it not even my mother in law so you can imagine the horror on our faces when we was told thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family
Sorry of hear of this, it is hard but you try to go on best you can - I do get moments where I just have a moment of upset or find something that reminds me of him, kinda delayed as time passes you know he is not going to come back through the door.
Hi Robin ,sorry for loss ,but he his out of his pain.We are going on this boat next year ;and information regarding control panel will mean a speedy take over .
Hi Robin, big respect to you. May your father RIP. So, basically, this is an Aquafibre Diamond 35 LW that has been given one helluva makeover. Barnes Brinkcraft has done a good job there.
hi Robin, please accept our sincerest condolences. as for being judgemental, not a chance, sometimes the only place to be is on a boat , as you say a good place to reflect. stay safe.
Hi Robin totally understand my Mother died on the 4th February this year of a Stroke and heart attack! She was unconscious for a few days then she suddenly opened her eyes looked at me and pointed to her heart and said " Et I'll be right here" and closed eyes and never woke up. After the shock I ran to the my boat (SEA TREK) for a few days too. Hope to see you on broads God bless Martyn (SEA TREK)
I think I aw you depart Ranworth when I was about in the water. She looks really nice and know you did a lot to her after buying. Thanks for your kind comment.

Hi, I love going on the broads and think your blogs are great, sorry to hear of your fathers passing and what you said was very touching, I Have a question as well, You've taken out a few boats on your own will all the boats yards let you do this or is it just brinks? Dave.
This is just the usual management - too many trees and the Sailing folk get unhappy as blocks wind, also a lot of trees have suffered with winter storms and come crashing down due to being weak. Last year one cam close to a moored boat near South Walsham Broad so I can see why they are taking no chances.
Brings it all home mate and shows you life is far to short. What a lovely thing to do to be on the broads which are a special place for alot of us, respect to you and rest in peace to your Dad. Your right cherish your family.
My condolences Robin it's never a pleasant thing loosing a Father. Maybe he was with you on that trip.......

Sorry for your loss Robin.
Its because of your videos I try and go on the broads each year!
The Broads has such a calming effect and can make worries seem less big somehow.
my mum loved the norfolk roads, when she died - just before our broads holiday we still went, we took her ashes and spread them in the water so she would be forever in the place she loved.
Sorry to hear your news and thank you once again for the inspiration you have given me and my family for the love of the Broads and boats in general.

sorry to hear about your dad
Realy sorry about ure loss I no its 4 yrs ago but I know how it feels..
I noticed they are cutting trees down again on the river Bure do you know the reason why as its starting to make places look a bit thin on trees
This is just the usual management - too many trees and the Sailing folk get unhappy as blocks wind, also a lot of trees have suffered with winter storms and come crashing down due to being weak. Last year one cam close to a moored boat near South Walsham Broad so I can see why they are taking no chances.
