I agree with others! Such a strong cast for a hybrid. For me, I love the Asian chemical ones so much. No cast and no burn. Plus, can’t resist a nice gel!

It's a nope. Wild for a hybrid, what were the formulators thinking 🤔

After trying 40+ sunscreens to date, nothing beats the haruharu wonder chemical (yellow tube) sunscreen. If anyone knows another sunscreen in the same league (as good), let me know, as I need to keep my options open.

How does it compare to the beauty of joseon one?

    • @simonk8954

@@celestema2506 The issues I have with Beauty of Joseon are (1) It uses Tinosorb M which is a hybrid filter and has micronized insoluble particles and can leave a slight whitish tint. It is hard to detect, but I can notice it, especially if you re-apply. (2) After a few hours, I notice my skin can feel a bit tight and it is not as comfortable as haruharu wonder. Overall, I find that haruharu wonder has a better finish, more nourishing for the skin, and feels comfortable throughout the day. What are your favourite sunscreens to date?

Even though I like many of the products from this brand ( my first introduction to k- beauty years ago)... somehow I was sceptical about their sunscreen..😢.....now I know it's definitely not for me.... Thanks Dana...👍

Hybrid sunscreen doesn’t mean it is a sunscreen that won’t leave a white cast… (where does that idea come from?) 🤔 Mineral sunscreens if formulated right will always leave a white cast unless they contain some form of colour as the mineral sunscreen filters, zink oxide and titanium dioxide are both white powders. (Titanium dioxide is normally also used to creat white paint…). Hybrid means it is a sunscreen with a combination of both mineral (physical sunscreen filters) and chemical sunscreen filters. (And in this case also the non regulated sunscreen filters butyl octyl salicylate, (which is commonly used to be able to use less physical sunscreen filters than normally needed which lessens the white cast to some degree… but will not remove it completely. But the main purpose with a hybrid sunscreen is to create a stronger and more durable protection. And potentially also a bit less drying as some mineral sunscreens can be quite drying on dry or dehydrated skin, as the mineral sunfilters absorb both oils and water.
The Pyunkang yul sunscreen is a sunscreen formulated in their Ato line. Ato is short for Atopic which means sensitive skin. Thus this is made for sensitive reactive skin and very dry skin, i personally don’t love it, either but for people for instance who are going through retinization with Tretinoin or who have made some skin procedure and have a bit of an impaired skin barrier function. I think this can be a good choice to avoid irritating the skin further… ❣️

Thanks for your thoughts here! My expectation of hybrid sunscreens is that they have LESS of a cast, but I understand they may still have some. There are plenty out there that accomplish that, so that’s why my bar is a bit higher. I also understand that it could be good for sensitive skin, but there are other mineral sunscreens also good for sensitive skin that don’t have a cast. I think overall my whole point was that the bar is higher these days, and this sunscreen really only works for those at the light/fair end of the spectrum

I can appreciate brands adding moisturizer to their formulas, but those aren't working for me in hot weather! Their needs to be a broad spectrum sunscreen that does pile on thick.

@Dana ... do you use Tretinoin as you always look radiant and youthful? If so, what % are you on / frequency of use.

Aww thank you 🥹 I actually switched from tretinoin to retinals as my skin reacts better to them. I also have normal/combo skin so I can tend to look quite “glowy” 🤣

So weird. I watched all of your sunscreen videos, every day. I was expecting to see something I'd like to try, but I'm not interested in any of them :-/
I use Haruharu and sticking with it.
