Man I can't believed that it worked. I did everything as you did in the video and found 4 broken wires on the frame. It also fixed 2 other problems I was having with my vehicle. I originally took it to the shop for the first issue two issue's i was having and payed $128 dollars to diagnose it, they wanted $450 to fix, I didn't have that much so I took it home and was driving and all my dash lights came on and I couldn't get it in gear. got it back to another electrical shop and they told me it would cost me close to $700 to fix. I thank God I found your video and followed it to the T. had run get a test light and connector's which cost me like $15.00. I just finished and everything is working great. $15 dollar fix and about 2hrs of my time. Thanks so much your awesome.

I would have been paying those guys a visit afterwards, though you didn't say if the first shop correctly diagnosed it.

That's honestly how your mechanics should work. I wish more would. I'm working on the same issue that everyone turned down and can't figure it out this video helped tons. I touched the body panels with a oms meter and was drawing current witch is bad ground that's why I'm still watching this guy I am the same mechanic and we won't stop till you find the real problem all these people in town are throwing batteries and alternators and clean terminal since the power issue it's the power issue with the power issue no one has once brought up ground

" SEEMS TO BE" ????? You must be kidding me. 99.9 percent of the people I run into today do not give one shit about their job, and it's with EVERYTHING. They think they are doing the owner a favor by going to work. This country is SCREWED!

This is THE BEST video I've seen on diagnosing this problem on Chrysler products. Your videos are HIGHLY valuable to all of us DIYers trying to avoid the 'Remove and Replace' repair shops that are charging major $$$ for what we could be doing ourselves.

Hey Mr O, as a Mechanic here in Aussie land who's done his time back of the basic electrical system, It was easy to fault find electrical problems, but if there was a so called "major" electrical problem, then the Auto Electrician was called in to find and fix the problem, the problem with getting these guys in was that they would never tell you what the actual problem was if it wasn't a component swap out like the alternator or starter, because if they told the mechanic what the problem was, then if it happened again, the mechanic knew just what to do, so the Auto Elec would be doing himself out of potential income.
So watching you fault find this electrical ground problem was very pleasing and is a sign of an excellent Mechanic/Technician as you are, especially repairing those rusty vehicles there in the rust belt, something we never see here in Australia.

You are the BEST man! You allow no room for guessing and you believe in returning all circuits back to OEM standards. That makes you great - thanks!

Best TH-cam video ever. So sick of tracking bad grounds on this thing. I just made new ground to the black yellow. This was my moms old car that sat for like 3 years so if it wasn't corrosion or rubbing it was rodents. Overall I ended up using over 30 butt conecters. Instrument panel, headlights, camshaft sensor etc. Why can't they make wire insulation that tastes bad. THANK YOU

Well, this video has saved me. I have a 2004 Pacifica that I took to a Chrysler dealer in Monticello IN last week Jan 2020 to run diagnostics for a check engine light. They gave me back the car with all hell broken loose! Every warning light on the dashboard was on and I could not operate wipers, windows, AC etc. They basically ruined the car and had the audacity to tell me that they left it running and I should be able to drive home (30 min away). I insisted that I did not gave them the car in this condition and after bringing the big boss they said that the they would try to tighten the grounds which they did. The warning lights came off only to reappear about 2 mi away from home. I watched the video, found my C5, #14 ground wire to be defective just as taught in the video and jumped it to the negative pole of the battery and everything runs fine!. Cost: My time watching the video. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

This same problem has been plaguing me this week. At first it was intermittent and I still managed to get around. Today everything died - head and brake lights, radio, heater controls, windows, horn, couldn't come out of park and my dash was lit up like a Christmas tree with so many warning lights. I found your video and as soon as it was over, went outside and sure enough - all five wires were broken off from the eyelet. It's a tight spot, but managed to strip back the wires and crimp on two new eyes. Turned on the ignition and my car was cured! I dread electrical problems because you can spend days tracing wires and testing components, but you already did the hard work for me and made this an easy and inexpensive repair. I am so impressed with your knowledge and troubleshooting skill. Thank you Eric - you have a new fan.

Very good video Eric. My wife called me this afternoon to tell me our 2010 Patriot wouldn't start & did I want her to stop at discount battery & get a new battery. I told her NO, bring it back home if the jump works. She brought it home & the first thing I noticed was the ''Square'' Light that is supposed to go around the ''P'' - ''Park'' Position, when you turn the key was out. I put the Jeep in Neutral & it started right up. So I shut it back off, put the shifter back into Park & slapped the Shifter. Then turned the Key & the ''Square Shifter Position Light'' was back on. So it's something with the wiring or the linkage below the Shift Lever. Once the rain lets up, I'll fix it....
It's probably another bad grounding wire or lug..... Thanks for posting the video Eric, (I did watch it in it's entirety).....

Great approach and professional repair. Here's why. Test..not guess. Initial thoughts were not correct but didn't gamble on
a high dollar parts change out. Testing of circuits didn't involve stabbing holes in harnesses. Repair at frame stud was soldered not crimp and hope (like factory). Verified repairs. Nice job SMA

Good diagnostics Eric glad to see a technician who actually goes through the trouble to actually find the problem before changing a part after being a technician who did driveability and electrical for 46 years and a service manager and shop owner trying to find a technician who takes the time to find the issues before ordering a new part your customers are lucky to have you and you are a bright spot in the industry .

If the owner watches, he might see how the guy didn’t protect the fender with a cover as most shops do and has tools banging against it and potentially belt buckles scratching the paint, not to mention attempting to sit on the headlight. Also, prying the headlight at first with a screwdriver leveraging directly against the vehicles paint before switching to a nylon tool. Maybe it’s just me. I learned a certain sort of “etiquette” when repairing another persons vehicle. Good job diagnosing and fixing but those small things make me cringe. Some customers saying “I didn’t have these dents or scratches when I brought it in” might just not always be playing a fake blame game if you don’t follow a certain etiquette.

My Chrysler Town and Country sometimes doesn't start, but only after it has been driven around a bunch of places in one day, so shut off and restarted. Just, key turns, starts, then shuts off. What could be the problem? Mechanics said they can't diagnose, but they don't drive it anywhere either, just one start and aren't trying. . . It's been there 2 and 1/2 months. Please help

My 2005 Pacifica (which has been an excellent minimum repair vehicle) suddenly started doing the same thing described here. I watched your video and suggested to my mechanic thatn the ground was bad. Sure enough, the wires broke off at the terminal. Your video saved us a lot of time and trouble trying to diagnose the problem. Thank you.

I just watched your video, what a marvelous job you did trouble shooting the problem. I always have problems trouble shooting electrical problems (and computer problems). My age 75 is helping matters...ha..ha.
I found your video as I was searching for how to change the spark plugs on my 05 Pacifica. I use to work on my own carsfor the most part, but it gets more difficult these days
I want to learn how to keep the basics up as I really like this car, and hope it keeps running until I no longer need a car.
I keep my old 1973 450SLC Mercedes running for 28 years, when I bought the manual after visting the dealership for repairs.
Now I have to figure out how to mark your spot, and how to view other videos you have made.
    Thanks, Brian
