So glad to see that the health, safety and comfort of these beautiful horses, is so important to all of the people at this wonderful stable. I know that everybody has their own ideas about taking care of horses, but some of the comments by the viewers are a bit too judgmental. 🤭
These ladies are a Lot of Work! And the results you achieve, well worth it!! "Good job".... They are looking most beautiful!! Thanks for allowing us to see you work so hard . Good videos, Yvonne... I am learning!
Love this video! Practical solutions to norman situations. Friesian horse has filthy tail. Care givers using PLENTY of warm water, shampoo, and conditioner do a complete spa treatment. Even trimming the split ends. Thank you Gea, and Rinske!!!!!
I don't know what it is but Oda brings so much ❤️❤️❤️to her energy with everything she does. Very special lady.. it comes across without words... 🐎🥰🐎🥰 from 🇨🇦
That horse stepping on the hose reminds me of this blind pony I helped care for she was so sweet she was black and just gorgeous to “see” she would keep her head towards the ground and if I wanted her to step over something I’d just have to say step and she was the sweetest thing ever I was so happy when she found her forever home
I am moved and touch by your love, respect, and care for these magnificent horses. I sense the horses feel and respond to your devotion to them. Thank you for these beautiful videos. They are a joy to watch.
Beautiful tails! Wonderful filming of these relaxed ladies being pampered with a relaxing tail treatment. May I suggest a video of a barn tour & an introduction to all the farm staff? That would be fascinating! ❤️
What are called Chestnuts on horses look exactly like dew claws on dogs I've had as far as I could see. Not all had them. Of the ones that did, some grew fairly straight and some curled back in and had to be clipped really often. They grew out of a little knob made of the same material as the pads of their feet. On my first poodle my groomer kept hitting the knobs with the clippers so my vet shot the area with pain killer and clipped the knobs off as quick as clipping the nail (no, I didn't watch but my dog didn't make a sound) and that was it. I don't think he even charged me. On dogs after that I started grooming them myself and used round-tipped nose hair (I swear) scissors on the hair near the dew claws. You might ask your boss to sharpen the end cut nippers you're using for clippers or get you a new pair. He's obviously gotten his money out of those. LOL
You were not kidding when you said it was dirty 😂 This video answered a question I was going to ask. When and how do you trim the chestnuts on your Friesians? So 👍 thanks for that. This video popped up in my feed....Big Brother Is Watching 😳 😆 ❣️
I just love it! I could remember and almost feel my horse's tail in my hands too! I wish I had that spray to have used back in the day....keep these videos coming!
Good work for a beautiful reward! You girls do such a nice job caring for the beauties. I like that you showed the bottles for cleaning/conditioning. We used Mane and Tail for shampoo and Cowboy Magic to soften and keep the hair from getting ratty. I still use it for my Yorkie.
We have the hose on a high rotateable metal bar high up so that don't happen. Use conditioner on those thick tails and it's easy to brush. You have very wellbehaved horses. Good job.

Wouldn't it be better to brush from bottom to top, so that way you don't break off as much when you have to comb out A tangle and rip it all the way down? I love your channel and horses, they are so calm and beautiful!
I brush out snarls and tangles with the help of show sheen, starting at the bottom of the tail and working up. Once combed out, then wash and dry, that way you’re not having to cut. Water sets tangles in harder. I do bang the tail at the beginning of winter, keeps it a little cleaner.
I love to spend my breaks with your videos and this nice community. 💖 I hope I can come over one day. Then I will help combing and caring tails. I always loved this. I easily spent half an hour or more dividing hair by hair by fingers, picking out or falling out hairs and then washing and rinsing the tail, let it dry, spray in some conditioner, comb it... The result lasts for a long time. When I have the chance to visit you to continue our nice talk about leading a herd from A to B (you remember? ;) I will come with my working suits and rubber boots! 😁😉🤗🙏🏻🌷🌷🌷💖
Made me laugh. I was moving my dainty Arabian mare to a new boarding stable and had just gotten her settled when the stable owner walked by with his horse - a magical black beast and the first friesian I had seen in person. My jaw dropped and I just stared to the point that he laughed at me. I never looked at my sweet little mare quite the same after that.
Thank you! Many many years ago a horse did have 5 toes. By evolution it become 1 toe, the hoof. 'Outside' the horse you can find 2 of the other toes, 1 is the chestnut. And one is in the feathers. The other 2 toes are little bones in the legs...
😂 ohh cute idea! Too make sure they wouldn’t mind, being practical with your wish! The g stall team could be right there, no worries you guys - you’d all be there, and Rebecca S., probably with an older patient mare, would be sooooo happy. You all are so sweet and kind some of the happiness would be with you all and the darling gorgeous patient mare too. No one could say, sorry but no, to you Rebbecca S!
The bucket is too heavy when you need to hold it for a while. And the hairs get knots when you try to wash it in the bucket. It is much easier like in the vid and leaving the shampoo in for 10 or 15 minutes and rinse, then.
They are like vestigial hoofs (alike your nails) They don't get used but they still grow alike the actual used hoofs, so they need to be cut. Painless for them, maybe a lil tug.
It is similar to a fingernail of a thumb which grews back during the horse grew from propalaeotherium, a horse with tows 40-50 million years ago (small like a cocker spaniel) to a big animal with hoops instead of tows. This is the rest from the thumbs fingernail. Dogs have also a claw up on the front laws left without a functional "finger" behind which needs to be cut because it still grows. At a horse's leg it is no claw but kinda hoop substance.
They are like mothers and aunties. They know them from day one. Watch the video in which they show how they got the herd from the field to the stable without any leaches last autumn. This is only possible when they really trust in their human family. This kind of horses have a strong Mediterran temperament of the Andalous blood bred in. A lot of power. And when they get shy they could run away very fast. But they really trust in them. This is so beautiful to see. I had a herd like this but they were much lower in energy than Frisians. They were trotting horses, Russian half-bred, Polish, Iceland ponies, German ponies, Haflinger, Hannoveraner and Dülmener wild horses. All very calm. So I was really stunning how they made the distance running free. Watch this. There you can see how much they trust in their herd and see their humans as a part from it. And then the humans can trust into their horses. 😍🙏🏻💖
Would a large Afro comb still brush out the tail, but without the hair loss whilst the tail is wet. When it’s dry brush out with a bamboo human brush a lot less damaging than metal.
You shouldn’t brush the hair when it’s wet. You spray what ever you want in when it’s wet and then once it drys. (No hate I’m just saying it doesn’t break or pull as much hair out)
It is true. And a rinse of water with some vinegar closes the hair's structure after shampooing. Also for human's hair or ling fured dogs. And together with spray the hair dries well and shiny and is easy to comb. Maybe help with some Ballistol spray where are still knots and divide hairs by fingers from each other. The classical way. If this would not be as far from here (4 hours maybe) I would come over and help doing this. It is no work for timeless people who have to work hard all day. It is a job for girlies helping in the stoeterij or for stressed out managers who need some meditation time. It is awesome to calm down!
Ayla Cabral actually they hold the foals legs together during birth. Then it breaks if it breaks too soon you could end up with a serious birthing canal problem. Too high on leg for a toe even residual toes.
That's a lot of hair. Better you than me. Since I'm not a real horse person, what are chestnuts. A growth obviously, but to any purpose? Thanks for the video.
Google says: The chestnut is thought to correspond to the wrist pad of dogs and cats, or to be a vestigial scent gland similar to those found in some deer and otheranimals. The domestic horse is almost alone among extant equines in having chestnuts on the hind legs. Chestnuts are absent from the hind legs of asses and zebras.

I have long hair too, so I know all about wash, rinse repeat! It's a chore we all do when we love our manes and tails.❣

Use coconut oil on the hair, it will help to smooth it and enhance the beauty long hair and keep hair not strangling with other hairs.

The girls are working hard ! Very nice !😇🐴😇🐴❤️
If I had known about Freisian horses in my horse riding days they are what I would have had. Back then everybody was into quarter horses.
Lol.. I had racers. In horses and motorbikes! 😂😂😂
Today I am walking my dogs. But also my greyhound is getting older. Like me. 😉😄👵🏼

Beautiful!!! Good job!!!
Would it be easier to dunk & soak the dirty tail in a bucket of soapy water?
That works ok, but you need a big deep bucket due to the tailbone, that gets really heavy and awkward. I know from experience.
Wisepati: Too bad there’s not an easier device to help you.
The bucket is too heavy when you need to hold it for a while. And the hairs get knots when you try to wash it in the bucket. It is much easier like in the vid and leaving the shampoo in for 10 or 15 minutes and rinse, then.
Don't separate hairs until clean brush and separate from the bottom up. Y'all have it figured out.
Katie von Olendörp: I see. Thank you!
Its my hair! Lol Goodl 2 c how u take such good care of these beauties! The beauty in these horses 2 me is their mane. 💗
Spa day ! and loving it...!
Good job ladies.

are chestnuts the things you cut off the legs? are they callouses? I'm not a horse person but I love Friesians.
They are like vestigial hoofs (alike your nails) They don't get used but they still grow alike the actual used hoofs, so they need to be cut. Painless for them, maybe a lil tug.
How calm the horse stands. Which Friesian was it?
Thinking maybe Reintje...?
In the winter my horses tail gets so muddy and poopy.
great job
Both horses looked beautiful. What was that you cut off the horse's leg? I didn't understand you called it a chestnut.
It is similar to a fingernail of a thumb which grews back during the horse grew from propalaeotherium, a horse with tows 40-50 million years ago (small like a cocker spaniel) to a big animal with hoops instead of tows.

I am not familiar with the term “chestnuts” with horses. Are they callouses? I’m really curious about this. 🤔
Feeding that dog that stuff...gagged me
Ayla Cabral Thanks. Is it actually hoof material?
Susan Stanley Dogs really go for hoof trimmings as well. It’s a dog thing! Kinda like rawhide.

What are these "chestnuts"? It seems weird they have them.
