    Thank you so much for this information, I'm not a nurse but a certified retired Home Health Aide, I wish Florence Nightingale was taught to us in in-service I took care of dementia, head injury, strokes, cancer, bed sores you name it I work with it and a mother of a autistic adult son. I would take my patients out for fresh air wheelchair, cane wash them up change beds and etc. I thank the GOOD LORD for FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE and the NURSES that train me. AIDES are important to, we just started to get the respect after the pandemic. If it wasn't for my training with AIDS, I would know what to do. So thank you so much for putting this video up. I'm proud to be a HOME HEALTH AIDE (CERTIFIED).

      Thank you for watching! I believe that she would be surprised, yet would have kind of expected nursing to evolve. She could not have known to what extent, but I’m sure she would be proud at the progress the nursing profession has made. Thank you for your comment!

    I really learnt a lot from this video
    About Florence Nightingale
    I now know the reason why they called her the first practicing Epidemiologist.
    Some nursing videos didn't explain why they called her that
    But now I know the reason .
    The video was helpful.

    I'm currently on my first year of nursing school. I'm pursuing a BSN degree and just last week we're given lectures about the history of nursing and Florence Nightingale. So, all the information you've presented were still very fresh in my mind and as I watched your video, I got to learn more about the history of nursing and Nightingale's life. You've pointed out some significant information that were not mentioned in our lecture. So, for that I thank you! This video is very helpful, very informative, and very insightful.
    Also, I found out and have subscribed to your channel for like, I think 1 or 2 weeks already and I am feeling lucky to have discovered this channel. Hope to see more insightful videos here.

    Very interesting presentation. But what of Mary Seacole. When will you do a presentation on her. She also earned her rightful place beside Florence Nightengale.

    • @NurseMasterCharlieRN
      @NurseMasterCharlieRN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree.... and it's funny you mentioned her...cause I have actually been researching her information, and was planning on having a video about Mary Seacole... The History of Nursing Part 3...(something like "the untold heroes...or something like that"). I was trying to have it done and ready by this week...but that didn't happen. So I'm glad I am not the only one who knows about her, it will be good for people to know about her, and her, especially as a contemporary of Florence Nightengale. So look for it soon!!!!!

    In the uk we’re trying to move away from the ideology of Florence Nightingale as it misrepresents us as nurses. We are trying to get people to recognise we’re not the little doctors assistant that just change bed pans and dress patients, but we want to be viewed as scientific medical professionals with high quality knowledge and skill in caring for patients and helping patients with all different medical conditions. While it’s important to remember our history, it’s important as well to learn and move on. If I wanna be remembered as someone from history it’s Mary Seacole, now she was badass.

    All this is great and all but why no one ever talks about how she was a racist. How she thought men where beneath her and not good enough to be nurses, and looked at them as nothing more than the help. How she publicly denounced people of color in the field of nursing and tried to limit them from becoming nurses all together. While she did amazing things for the field and profession of nursing, she was bigoted and racist.

    SPELLING! Her name is spelled 'Nightingale'

      I agree! You are the first person to "catch or mention" about the spelling...
      I realized it a couple of weeks after I posted the video, but I left it to see if anybody would notice, and I didn't want to redo the thumbnail.
