Man I wanted to be a nupe so bad. My dad was a nupe, my brother was a nupe, but they're not the only reason I wanted to join Kappa Alpha Psi. I wanted to represent the fraternity in a way that brought honor to young black professional men. I wanted to mentor young kids from middle school to high school and prepare them for the real world so they would be successful in college and after college once they graduated and started working in whatever career they chose. I know there's more to being a kappa than just wearing the colors, and strolling with those who are your line brothers with you, before you, and after you. It's about what you can bring to the fraternity that brings about positivity and success. My brother and my dad passed away before I could make the effort of joining such a prestigious fraternity. For me, I can only dream about it.

I never got the honor of being a man of achievement, so I just have to live my life proud of my dad and brother for being in a frat so nice, they named it twice. Out of respect for all who are in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, I'll never ever do their call out, because I'm not entitled nor have I earned that privilege. Beyond the fraternity, I miss my dad and brother. No matter how long they've been gone, it's always hard not having them here along with my mom. 😔

Your statement it is a function of ignorance of the purpose of our organization. The purpose of the fraternity is not to "validate you as a man".
