    Dyno-tested with full a Akrapovic exhaust this bike puts down 56 hp at the wheel and weighs 240 lbs fully fueled for the 2016 model; 2017-2019 model is 2-4 lbs lighter due to AER fork and some other changes these last 2 years but overall it is the same chassis, wheels, etc. I know, I have owned 2016-2019 FS450s. Pretty much ALL supermoto bikes run 16.5" front rims and Dunlop, Bridgestone, Metzeler and Michelin all make 16.5" fronts that work great, the latter even makes a VERY good 16" front which I find works great! Also, DO NOT USE the clutch lever on downshifts, the slipper clutch will handle it BEST if you leave the lever alone, try it, you will thank me. Last two important points....the handguards do not protect much in the event of a crash, so if you value your fingers and/or the stock master cylinder then get a set of Cycra ProBend hand guards with metal bars. Second point, the stock brake pads are good and last a long time but a set of Brembo Z04 or Vesrahs will give you more bite and less arm pump when riding for 30 minutes or more at a time. Remember to set the bike/rider sag to 20/80 mm (shock is sprung for 180 lbs rider). Manual recommended settings for fork/shock and tire pressure work great and ALWAYS warm up those tires with a few laps if you do not use tire warmers!

    If only Husqvarna/KTM made a street legal Supermoto 390 with the engine from the Duke 390. It would be the prefect motorcycle for me and I'm sure for many other out there as well.
    No need to make it an extremely high performance, competition bike. Just super fun to ride, light weight bike to enjoy in the streets.
    They wouldn't even have to design new parts. It's all out there on their current bikes.

    I did a supermoto build video series on a 2019 yamaha YZ450FX, easy peasy to do and make street legal here in Ohio. My YZ Sumo is the most fun motorcycle I've had yet, it RIPS and so lightweight. It's fun ripping it around town, riding up staircases, and riding in local woods, aka urban f*ckery.

      but it sucks as a streetbike mostly because it has too many vibrations. Check out the 701SM; it is GREAT and works on the street!

    There is a reason it never took off, even in Europe supermoto is a niche thing. Reason number 1: bikes are very, very expensive (this FS costs almost as a new 600 cc. supersport). Reason number 2: reliability is crap, basically if you race it, you have to rebuild it. Reason number 3: It can be ridden only on small kart tracks. It gets really fun if there is a dedicated track with offroad sections and jumps - which is difficult to find, especially in the US, unless you live near SoCal Supermoto. Tyres are as expensive as on supersport bikes and they get chewed equally quickly. On this particular FS, front tyre is 16.5, so it gets more difficult supplying tyres on good price. Reason number 4: Race supermotos don't have any other purpose but track riding on a small track. Reason number 5: They are difficult to sell 2nd hand. Reason number 6: Supermoto is difficult to get used to if you come from road bikes background.
    This particular FS is very, very niche product, only for people that take supermoto very seriously and intend to race. For every other folk out there, I recommend the 701 or the new 690. It can haul ass on a small to medium sized track (not FS good as it is 40 kg. heavier but fun enough). It is enormous fun on the road and you can even commute, do short journeys and use it as an everyday bike or put some 50-50 tyres and do some moderate trailing!

      @vagelisda 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everything you say is either ignorant or straight up wrong.
      We have supermoto in Europe since the 90s dude ,didn't take off ?wtf ? How do you think the Supermoto championship was born dude ,lol ...Supermoto bikes aren't reliable ? You know supermoto is a whole category and not a brand right? Because you don't seem to...
      We have cheap sm bikes too of course .
      The one you say needs maintenance like it's a race bike ,guess what genius,IT IS A FREAKING RACING BIKE ,and again, wtf . Everyone I know at some point had one ,mostly Ktms and many ,many had Yamaha xtz which a more heavy and friendly bike ,very very reliable.

    • @Na2gumiBlogspot
      @Na2gumiBlogspot 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vagelisda Just to be clear: Supermoto championship is struggling (S1GP) in case you didn't notice. Yamaha XTZ is nowhere near a supermoto, I don't consider it to be supermoto AT ALL. The only road legal and reliable supermotos today are KTM/Husqvarna 690/701. I don't know if they are still producing the DR-Z 400 which is a fun supermoto but needs a ton of mods to get it going. Factory ready supermotos you only have the FS450 and several very exotic TMs, almost everything else you have to build from scratch (based on a MX bike). There are some CRF's that come readily built. So, this is what puts people off.
      And guess what you can race (on an amateur level) a CBR600 or R6 and not need to rebuild engine every 100 hours.

      i bet you're American? in Europe they are very succesfull ,we have smaller more populated cities ,thus small sporty cars ans supermotos are very succesfull and useful. in countries with lots of straight lines these wouldn't make so much sense.
