    As an enduro rider of a gasgas 300 stroker I agree with you, yes I have two roads bikes but off road riding is safer, more exciting and just better all round. I have owned 55 roads bikes so I don't say that lightly.

      @@wheelxx in my town it isn't legal to ride like that anymore period if ur not on a farm bc after they took every place in town we could legally ride and turned it into walking and mountain bike trails and people just continued then took to street as well so ya woods and mx is fun but not available unless you drive 4hrs plus one way so ya man I get it. I never got a street bike bc I know how I am I wouldn't be able to always pussy foot around it's just not me I enjoy the gforce the acceleration the sound ect I do it with cars and trucks now but atleast I'm semi protected in comparison in the woods ur not contending with 2 and 3ton vehicles trying to kill you lol

    I think you're missing one of the many key features about a supermoto. It's great at urban exploration, being able to ride it on the road and take it off roading whenever you see something you want to explore. I don't know about you but when I'm driving in my car, every now and then I'll look out my window and see some cool abandoned building or dirt lot that I think would be cool to ride my dirtbike on, well with a supermoto you can actually get to those places without having to load your bike in the back of a pickup and drive there. They are great if you live in a big city with lots of random trails and infrastructure to ride on.

    Best bike ive owned is my 2016 africa twin. Heavier springs and racetech gold valves amongst other mods. I shortened the gearing and ride the thing like a hooligan. Seated, standing and knee knocker wheelies all day. 115000kms later, oil changed every 5000kms, regular servicing myself and zero problems, literally nothing failed other than normal wear items needing to be replaced. You mentioned experiencing the slicks, they're indeed insane. But I was even more impressed by the supermoto rain tyres in wet conditions, it's unbelievable how much grip you still have with those in really poor conditions.
    Every motor lover deserves to have at least three road bikes and three offroad bikes. Nehh, if it would be up to me I had sold very few of the bikes I owned.
    And I'm with you, motocross is awesome ! Waiting for a bit better wetter to do some laps again on the SXF 250, it's insane fun.

    Motocross! Yes, that is where I started and then moved to Supermoto. Try to keep one of each around so I can ride whichever floats my boat at the moment. Of course, the other option is the motocross bike with a Supermoto setup that you can swap to, which I had when I had a CRF450R.
    Supermoto racing actually came first, starting with "The Superbikers" in the US (shown an ABC Wide World of Sports). It then progressed to a series of races in Europe (mainly France) with the showcase race being a version of the Bol d'Oro. That lead to the European series, then the World championships. But, of course, moto guys being what we are, stunting came along, kind of bringing a bunch of stunts from the off-road world to the asphalt. Hey, we are what we are!
    (BTW, nice blues riff in the middle of the video!)
    Wish I lived much closer (or had the funds to ship it), because I would love to own that bike. But SA to the US is a BIG bill of lading!
    Have fun with whatever bike you get next!

    I am someone who owns both a KTM 690 SMC-R (not a special supermoto like the FS450, but still not bad) and a kawasaki motocross bike. I can't say that I ride both of them really well, but I've had the chance to experience both of them to some extent. I've ridden the 690 on the track (a big F1 track like Istanbul Park isn't really ideal for this bike, but it was still a lot of fun), and I ride the motocross bike almost every weekend. In terms of adrenaline and excitement, I don't think anything can compare to the feeling of motocross. Yes, supermoto is a lot of fun, and riding any bike on the track is probably exciting too, but for me, there's no question that motocross is much more thrilling. It sounds like we share similar opinions on this topic.

    Riding off road, mx or enduro.. is 100x more enjoying than street/asphalt.. but it comes at a cost.. You will end up in the hospital at some time, with some pretty good injuries that will set you back and make you rethink your decisions.. I have had 4 knee surgeries, 3 broken collar bones, wrist 2x, ankle 1x, so many broken ribs I can't count.. I grew up racing mx, then to hare scrambles, then to GNCC... Now its been almost 10yrs since I even threw a leg over an MX bike other than to just wheelie a buddies rmz450 across a corn field to feel what the newer 450's feel like.. It took 30sec for me to say, nope.. I enjoy going to work and staying injury free..

    When i first got into supermoto i had a drz s that i converted. I kept dirt and street rims and swapped a lot. Rode to work during the week and the track on the weekend. It wasnt the fastest but did both and in 30k miles never rebuilt it. Heck i ran the spark plug for over 20k. That said after a few track days my stable got bigger adding an rmz450 then ktm450 and another ktm450....
    What i would suggest is just getting a used set of rims for your yz. Instead of slicks run some conti attack street tires. And just get a cheap 320 front brake to run the stock caliper. Most tracks will want some sliders and a coolant catch but easy to add. I kept my last ktm 450 and have 3 sets of wheels for it. Some alpinas with slicks, some 18/21 with gummy trail tires and some 19/21 moto.
    I was happy with the longevity of dunlop gp tires. Other softer tires wear out quick but the dunlops were a good mix. My favorite tire was a maxxis presa but they stopped making them. It was super sticky and soft.

    I fell 20+ times on tarmac tracks and i just broke one finger, while in motocross i fell just 4-5 times but one was so bad that i nearly got myself disabled. i don't know if it is just for me but i feel supermoto much safer. Tarmac may be hard... but you don't fall from high ground...

    Nothing is as fun and dynamic as dirtbike riding, particularly enduro and cross country exploration. I still love high powered road bikes, particularly nakeds, (and particularly the ducati streetfighter V2), but a road bike has a more serious adrenaline rush feel to racing, whereas dirtbike riding is more of a mellow focused fun... not like a Superbike where it's like an "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck I'm gonna die" type fun.

    All roads lead to baggers.. And all tracks lead to motocross.
    Much the same way as Harley’s (or cruiser style bikes) are where most street riders end up. Motocross is where us track junkies eventually end up as well.. It just makes logical sense once you start factoring in bang for your buck.. I can bang out an entire adrenaline filled weekend on my rmz (all maintenance included) for less than the cost of the fuel to run my 1290R for a single track day… It’s a great way to get your kicks and also afford to do other things as well

    If you live near areas where there are a lot of places to ride dirtbikes legally without having to trailer hours there and back, then it is a ton of fun. But if you live in areas where there are no legal trails or tracks, the asphalt becomes your trail system. I dont need to dedicate an entire day to ride on my supermoto. When I have an hour to waste, I can just walk into the garage and jump on my supermoto and ride. 2-stroke 250's (RGV, TZR, NSR, APRILIA) or some kinda 90's--2000's collectable sportbike. This is what I'd like to see. Ensign...... Make it so!

    Sold my 07' V-Strom and my Honda CB400n Cafè Racer for R100k, bought a 2022 Suzuki GIXXER 250 Naked...I'm a happy man, what I've realised is that bikes not in use will be "tarped" and be deprived of attention, the bike doesn't deserve it.

    LMFAO dude I have a tracked out R3 and a 690 SMC-R, I will offer what I can and hopefully it serves you well. I love dirt biking, I love my WR250f and riding trails + enduro. I genuinely love supermoto and what it has allowed me to transfer into my road racing career. I went to American Supercamp and learning how to back it in sumo style translated well for the R3, but they all work hand in hand. I would honestly get back into sumo later on if I were you just because it is something that polishes everything else.

    Just a suggestion, buy supermoto wheels for the YZ. This way you can enjoy both MX and Supermoto. It's not very cheap option but is cheaper than whole bike like the Husky.

    • @Streamlines

      Won't work. Supermoto suspension doesn't work for offroad purposes and vice-versa.

    • @naskicha468
      @naskicha468 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Streamlines why won't? My KTM suspension is quite stiff and it's fully adjustable, don't have experience with Yamaha. A lot of people in my country put supermoto wheels on mx bikes, enduro bikes to but their suspension is too soft for SM, so it's only good for streat.

    • @Streamlines
      @Streamlines ปีที่แล้ว

      @@naskicha468 it will work but won't perform on the same level. I imagine off-road geometry is very different from on-road/racing too (fork height), as well as damper and spring setup front and rear. Sure you can put SM wheels on it and ride around on it to have some fun. But you will find the limit soon and it will hold you back.

    • @Jordan-fg9cc
      @Jordan-fg9cc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Streamlines if you are trying to be a competitive racer, sure.
      but 90% of the converted sumos on the road are running stock suspension and it works fine. it will work just fine for track days when you're just out to have fun and challenge yourself.
      geometry can be adjusted. you can drop the front end down or raise it up by changing where the forks sit in the triple tree.

    This fukin AMAZING. I was raised on fairly non exciting TV cable channel production s about subject matter like this.
    The fact that a (not so) ordinary bloke can write, direct and act in something FAR more entertaining with a cutting edge production value is mind boggling.
    Many of these You Tubers ALSO edit and insert music and special effects too.
    Not everyone can do this. But the fact that so many CAN is a boon to society.
    Then, there is the fact that SO MANY of these channels ALSO demonstrate and EDUCATE and give (their own) advice to help in major dollar purchase decisions by "The Great Unwashed"..ie people like me, with no talent, but a desire to research and learn as much as possible without having severe buyers remorse.
    I am only at 1:33 and I had to stop, comment, LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to this bloke's channel. Clever boy!
