Seems like easy to work on those little 500's. Plenty of them on the road and loads of cheap spare parts and repair kits around. I like these kind of video's, no screaming, no overreacting, no clickbate and the list goes on. You were just a bit adventurous buying a new (expensive) battery just before passing mot.

Yeh totally agree. And yes I was a bit with the battery. Couldn’t find one that was cheaper. 😂

Great work! I wonder if it would be easier to get a matching stripe for the drivers door than removing the one on the donor door?

I did think that. But I think we are going black with the next one.

I don't know why later fiat 500s rust so badly, I have a 22 year old punto in excellent condition, and a 1994fiat cinquecento no rust any were , and a1993 uno Diesel excellent floor doors nothing rotted away

Next time you need to clean your brake discs. Just jack the car up on one side and start it up and put it in first gear. Then just lightly apply the brakes and release the clutch at the same time and it will clean the rust off. Then after just use brake cleaner to remove all the dust. Just put a cam belt kit on it and you’ll probably get around £1700 for that no problem. Nice to see somebody enjoying driveway mechanics.

I had a fiat panda with the same drive train and the head gasket started leaking at 56k miles, 8.5 years old car... i noticed i had to top up the coolant every few days, i did the liquid test and it turned green instantly..... replacing the head gasket and getting the head resurfaced was quoted at 1.6k pounds .... it was serviced every single year and no expense was spared, had its timing belt and pump changed with genuine parts too.
Traded it for a dacia sandero, never buying fiat again.
