    I'm keen on a type of Teclis and the Idoneth style screw up on the part of the Goddess of Life (She is formerly elven, and I personally see much of that arrogance remaining in her) Perhaps, in a desperate bid, she took less than ripe or out of season soulpods and tried to fuse them with Loyalist Wanderers resulting in a terrible scream across the psychic network and realizing her error she took away the wargroves memories to shield them from the pain and to hide her shame as she is supposed to foster life, not mutilate it like Nurgle does.

    First comment! One I wanna say, I legitimately was just doing research on this topic a couple hours ago so your timing is amazing! And two, I love your videos covering the Sylvaneth and all the factions. They're incredibly informative and entertaining! Thanks for all you do 😁

    I’m partial to thinking it has to do with trying to use the Wood Elves (Wanderers) that wished to come back, or never left during the Age of Chaos. Maybe she tried to do what Sigmar did and steal Elven souls from Shyish but without the help of Grungnie, she created imperfect beings, and wiped everyone’s memories. Because she forbade all Wanders from coming back to the realm none of the Sylvaneth can remember she broke her own rule and failed in the process.

    I think Allaria may have sacrifice the spite revenants to the battle song. Like she basically severed them from the song as much as she can to create warriors that might be able to beat nurgle(basically making berserkers) and erase everyone's mind because she literally just did the worst possible thing one could do to a sylvaneth

    There are some great ideas here. I think it would be cool if in a direct confrontation Alrielle became a 5th Chaos God by embracing the death part of the life cycle and permanently tainted all Sylvaneth born at that time as we all know her "mood" effects her surroundings and people.

    I think in a bid to push back the tide of chaos she may have had to plant seeds too hastly and planted them in chaos influenced soil creating something worst than spite revenants and the like but actual chaos sylvaneth spawn that would still fight for her but once the fighting was done had to cull the corrupted spawns and rid her sylvaneth of memories of what had transpired.

    I'd like to think the Shrouded season might be something that worked out just as Alarielle had planned, but was viewed as atrocious by the Sylvaneth. Think something along the lines of starting continent-spanning wildfires to burn out a large warband of Nurgle.
    "This continent is a lost cause, Nurgle controls half of it already and has massive momentum on it. Leave these Sylvaneth there as a rearguard while these others gather at strategic locations to set the whole area on fire."
    A lot of sylvaneth are lost permanently because their remains got cremated and there is nothing left to re-plant and the dryads (who are supposed to look after nature) who set the fires keep Coming Back Wrong anytime they are reborn because of the trauma.
    Meanwhile Alarielle goes "This atrocity went exactly as everyone knew it would, but it's best if my children don't remember that I ordered something like this."

    Funny you should mention alpha legion as I was about to say the spite revenants remind me of flayed ones or destroyers from the necron faction.

    There is a short story about a Branchwych that is the sole survivor of a Kruleboyz attack and teams up with Spite Revenants. By communicating with them she goes insane and becomes one herself.

    Hello good sir first of all I want to say I really appreciate you giving me back story time from my childhood LOL. anyway I was listening to one of your videos while painting the other week and you talked about one of your favorite scenes in any book which is when the ever queen started charging at some nergle defense . what book is that from? I've been looking for it.

    That whole 'Chaos severed the Spirit Song' idea is super cool! I kinda prefer a version where it's Allarielles fault though, like the War of Life was so desperate she did some kind of 'Death bomb' ritual trying to Scorched Earth some parts of the realm. Many Sylvaneth were so disgusted with what she did that she mind wiped them all, less for her own sake but more because division among the Sylvaneth would be a military disaster.

    I feel like it could be something to do with the chaining of slaanesh - maybe the spite revenants are elves like the idoneth deepkin who have had their souls completely removed, and the bigger ones like drycha being the equivalent of the idoneth with broken souls - maybe the memories were purged because some more warlike sylvaneth - the spirits of durthu for example, might try and release more of them, and alarielle wants her children to stay the fuck away from slaanesh and/or teclis and the other elven gods

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She doesn't have access to Slaanesh, or even know where the prison is. And Drycha is just Drycha from Fantasy, no Elf bits involved.

    I think the Shrouded Season was a failed Rite of Life. It was not yet the season for spring, the winter of the Necroquake and death Magic still had to happen. Alarielle tried to force spring anyway against her nature, the nature of her followers, and nature itself. The result was catastrophic.

  • @danielward3568

    What if Allarielle gave up? She shrouded the memories of her abandoning them, but the outcasts are a manifestation of her self loathing and hatred for it

    My idea on spites is that they were elf souls consumed by Slanesh. Like the Dok snakes. The memory erase helps the others accept them

      Alarielle doesn't have access to Slaanesh and thus can't pull souls from it.

      @@ianfalzonmoon No, the Lumineth Battletome is very clear on who participated in the capture of Slaanesh and who has access to the prison. And Alarielle isn't on that list.

    Well… what if she tried to replicate the old WHF Dhar? It’s a thing of malice and corruption. It was slightly? Replaced by nullstone and the Aetheric Void, but it doesn’t tick all the boxes.

  • @Heeeynald
    @Heeeynald 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well... What if Nurgle had made his own version of a spirit song and got some Sylvaneth to his side using it? I think that would be horrible enought to make Allariel wanna wipe out all the records of those even happening in the first place 🤔

  • @blighboy1
    @blighboy1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could they be Sylvaneth grown from the realm of chaos? Could Alarielle have even formed a pact with another chaos god to create them (and wiped memories to conceal that sin)? Genuinely asking, don't know much about the revenants.

    Any suggestuins on what I can do in game with all my old wood elf glade guard, waywatchers and glade riders? Seems only the dreads were moved forward into Age of Sigmar. Could they make a warcry warband at all?

    • @Duane-91
      @Duane-91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah just proxy them for warcry models with similair stats.
      Warcry doesnt really define which weapon somoene holds, just the type and the range of the attack. So just look around in the compendiums and maybe even look for matching abilities.;)

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use them as proxies in a Cities of Sigmar army. And if Legends rules are allowed where you play than a bunch of those models have rules.

    Ok so hear me out, headcanon comin at you:
    During the war of life allarielle can see the rot of nurgles corruption spreading through the lands of gyran, and her children are paying a heavy toll to slow that corruption with little success.
    Knowing that this is a realm wide disease she is dealing with, allarielle assumes the role of a physician, and tries to find a more effective solution.
    With stoic dread she realises that the people of gyran, the elves, dwarves and men, are actively contributing to the rot as they fall to corruption and spread disease, even joining the ranks of nurgles hoards.
    Allarielle knows what must be done, though it pains her to do it, for she values all life. A culling must be had. She plants the seed of drycha, an act that she had put of doing until now, knowing that she would be condemning countless innocents to brutal, terrifying deaths.
    Upon her rebirth, drycha is given the order to cull the mortals of gyran and stop the spread of nurgles hoards. What follows is so dreadful that the dryads partaking in it are twisted beyond recognition, taking on the forms of the dreaded spite revenants in order to better carry out the deed. Others are twisted directly by the influence of drycha herself, whose malice permeates the forests around her.
    A heavy price is payed. But when the dead is done, the rot continues to spread, and the buzzing of flies bares the resemblance of a laughing god. Nurgle is a god of corruption, and in her desperation, allarielle has murdered untold numbers of her allies out of fear that they would fall to nurgle. Her very actions strengthen the plague god, as corpses bloat with maggots and her children scream with the madness of their newfound malice.
    She has been beaten. Every action she takes hastens her realms demise. She recedes in total despair, knowing that hope has withered on the vine.

    • @danielpapst8698
      @danielpapst8698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knowing that this despair will only hurt the effort of her children to defend their homes, allarielle strikes the memory of this time from them. Choosing instead to carry the burden of this failure on her shoulders alone

    At the end of the video, you talk about the ethics of erasing people's memories without consent- Here's the thing, though. How do we know that it wasn't done with consent? For all we know, it was so terrible that the Sylvaneth as a whole basically agreed with Alarielle in regards to erasing their own memories.

  • @ShurilVolari

    I absolutely love these sylvaneth the outcasts and the spites always loved drycha in fantasy and the idea of nature's fury unleashed in a raw format nothing but fury.
    What I personally think is whatever got wiped from the minds made the Outcasts in the way of something so heinous it drove sylvaneth insane and somehow corrupted their connection to the song now they can only perceive the war song like a trauma patient able to perceive the event of trauma over and over.
