Excellent presentation sir. My wife has the same (non-VR) 18-55 and it's big brother, the 55-200 from 2006 or there about. Is the procedure the same for the 55-200? The other question I need to ask is, her 18-55 has about 3mm of play. When using manual focus it is very noticeable and troublesome. Can it be rectified at all?
Hello, first question, no, the 55-200 disassembles differently. If you need basic cleaning, I made this video here th-cam.com/video/qFfH3-gp2y0/w-d-xo.html . About the play, under the rubber ring, you'll find a tape that needs removal (mark things before), then, you can unscrew the top of the zoom ring and take out the focusing part for inspection (this it what I remember but need to take a look into a lens to make sure). Best regards.
Does it work for VR lens as well?
Hi, I've disassembled the VR as well, removing some parts of it is a bit more tricky as far as I can remember, so, proceed with caution. Best.
