Hi Tweek buy a skip-stitch blade it’s a perforating rotary blade that fits in your rotary cutter. It puts little holes all around your fleece it’s fast and easy. No need for a punch to make holes save all the hard work on your hand. Only takes one pass down your fleece to make all your holes to crochet in. I have even done 2 layers of fleece at a time so making a two sided fleece blanket so fast and easy all your holes line up for both pieces.

What size crochet hook do you use? I just ordered the fiskars puncher that you had in your last video. My mother recently passed away and I was given all of her fleece and sewing machine. Since I did not yet know how to use the sewing machine and I am a crocheter I would like to do some of these projects.

Yes, punching through 2 thicknesses of fleece can be done… moving quickly, tho, may be an issue as the fleece doesn’t move as easily in the puncher when it’s layered upon itself. But slow goin’ irons out the problem. Easy does it! Remember to rest your hand as you go! :0)

A rotary skip blade moves quickly along the fabric cutting, or punching holes, through it. I prefer to use a hand punch as I opt for more control as I follow the contours of the fabric. I’m relying on the punch hole going through more smoothly, allowing my crochet hook to fit thru the hole better afterwards. Try both and see what you think. Good luck!
Hi Gabe, I use only fleece fabric for my hand punch projects. It’s been my experience that fleece does not run or expand after the punch has been made… letting me easily crochet my stitches into it. It may be just a bit big for a baby blanket, yet that could be easily adjusted by making the squares smaller ( 4 x 4 inches ) or cutting the number of squares to 12 with 3 rows of four squares instead of four. I would have liked to have seen how you did the ‘corners’ while you attached the 4 squares to the row. How many DCs did you do? This is the part BEFORE you did the border. This part was not clear.
Hi Doris, Have you ever stitched two granny squares together before? My corners don’t change once I make the determination as to how they will work in the project.. ie: I was taught to stitch 3 DC ( or SC ) then a space, then 3 again which made my corners in the GS. Um…. I don’t know, Natalie. Do you imagine a cotton fabric would accept a needle punch hole without tearing or running? I guess all would rise or fall upon the fabric’s thickness. Would sweatshirts work? Could a needle punch hole be made, and kept, in sweatshirt material? I’m unwilling to deviate from my fleece but I’d love to hear how it works out for you! Hi Ebony! I have only used fleece as this fabric is thick, takes the punched hole and does not fray. Have not tried flannel for my projects.

I don't understand you crocheting your ends in to hide them? I've always taken a yarn needle and work my ends in.
