Wow! It was meant for me to watch this video. Ive had many restless nights filled with anxiety wondering whether I can still have a heart, genuinely care about people, and still be a leader in a large organization. You’ve confirmed the answer is YES! I absolutely have to stay true to who I am. Thank you, Gary.

Gary, I just discovered you on Linked-In, a friend of mine shared one of your sessions, I truly believe good people make great companies! Empathy, and Kindness! TRUTH!
Your comment on "How easy it is for 3 people to gang up and create a narrative to get someone fired" resonates with me. Worked at a company for 32 years as a manager and seen employees do this to others and then ultimately to myself. Fired and replaced by an employee that had quit twice and had never been a leader, who I counseled continually because she hated her coworkers and now she is their boss and I was thrown out like trash after the company told me every day what a great job I was doing. They decided upon meeting with 3 employees that I was a horrible person with a long standing problem that was never verbalized or documented. So yeah it does happen as companies pretend to know you and then listen to anything and decide your fate. Reality Check...Protect yourself and don't work somewhere for 32 years. Not a smart move in these times
Horrible to read that... Everybody is expendable these days. Despite the company telling you what a great job you did then firing you, I hope you had the knowledge that you were great regardless of what you were told because that is priceless.
@@sarahgabel1528 I can only imagine! Glad you are finding your feet. You must've been doing something right to be in post for 32 years. I really just wanted to encourage you. I can't say much as I don't know you but I'm a big believer in one person being able to make it break a company because of their skill set. Regardless of acknowledgement from them. That's the hard part though. You'll do well whatever you do next. It's sad that people need to tear down in order to get ahead. That is insecurity and self doubt and toxic.
I left the corporate job i had (at a bank) mainly because of that; culture (the lack of, as a matter of fact..). I was just a #. I was a very good employee and don't think i would've left, should there be an anthropocentric culture, just like the one you (and Simon Sinek for that matter) describe. Now, i run my own business, which is soooo hard for me to do - for sooo many reasons, besides it actually being HARD - and try to dig deep in your other teachings about self-awareness and savoring things to find what i can love and do at my BEST, so as to see if i can actually pull it off. I think i can. If we're lucky enough to be alive, the future will tell :) Thank u, always, Gary. Thanks Lin for this treasure. Numbers are important, but #peoplebeforenumbers, please :)

Wise words yet again Mr Vee.
Wow! Gary, so impressed you threw down to a corporate crowd. YES there will be people that take advantage... but if you look at the larger picture... you will have way more helping you build that support wall and on your team wanting you to also succeed
Good stuff Gary. Glad to hear the push for empowering people over profit. If you empower the right people with long term vision, it will lead to more profit than if the sole focus is profitability in the short term.

I remember when I left a mostly positive review of a company as they'd prompted me to on their website, and they called me up and told me off and tried to make me guilt trip, presumably when they were supposed to be internalizing feedback. I'd spent like, £800, too. Like, WTF, is that how you talk to customers?

Please keep posting the keynotes and speeches. I learn so much from them
I find it amazing that the concept of "business" has been in play for literally centuries, and nobody has figured it out yet. Why is "success" so difficult to accomplish? Because "success" is a moving target, and it is NOT a commodity. #AskMagicBrad
Well said. How are you doing btw? :)
@@jesuscorona8861 :) I'm wonderful. How are you?
I remember when I left a mostly positive review of a company as they'd prompted me to on their website, and they called me up and told me off and tried to make me guilt trip, presumably when they were supposed to be internalizing feedback. I'd spent like, £800, too. Like, WTF, is that how you talk to customers?
