I built this out of a donor kit and decals from Mike's Decals. I painted the wheels antique gold as a tribute to Tim. He was my favorite driver back in the day.
Hi Luka another great video! I would like to thank you as your passion for NASCAR passed through your jr salvino monthlys is getting to me. I am about to complete my first nascar kit amts Phillips 66 Thunderbird. I'm in the UK and my knowledge of nascar and salvinos is minimal so thankyou.👍. Luka please keep building!!
Not necessarily, the old Monogram aero back Monte kits are usually $40 and up. By the time you buy the Powerslide's and pay shipping on both you're not really saving any money.
@@nismojukerich2994 I have paid anywhere from $35.00-$40.00 for the Waltrip, Earnhardt and Petty combo kit at the swap meet so I have a lot of raw material to work with. The problem I have and why I quit the kit of the month is that there is no value for me with extra decals I already have or a subject I'm not interested in. I could also care less about the stickers. Now if they included some 3-d printed upgrade or detail parts I would be interested.......
I'd suggest getting the powerslide Earnhardt sheet from mikes and not the salvinos kit decals. The winston decal is no longer being printed on the sheet.
It’s odd your MCSS body is so warped. It was usually the Thunderbirds that arrived out of shape! Anyway great video, great information and it’s good to hear you sounding good again!!
The decals in the monogram were right for 1986. He had the black outlines. The ones Salvino has without the black outlines were 1987 from the races I have been watching. Look at 1986 first union race and the 1987 riverside.
I never said that the decals in the Monogram kit were wrong. I stated in the video that the numbers change quite a few times over the 86 season. The decals are from the Sept. 86 Martinsville race as is the photo on the box. In 87 the font for the numbers got thinner than what's on the decals shit. Rick Salvino said that he wanted this kit to be a car from Tim's stellar 86 season. And that is what you get.
great vid always luved the folgers car back in the day i want those ol milwaukee decals for a wht grand national kit sort of a what if 😁🤩thx 4 sharing 😎
Nice video of the Kit of the Month. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool kit! I think I got an old dusty built up kicking around. I see a restoration. Thanks for sharing.
Really love your nascar knowledge! Especially for the 80's. Keep up the great work brother
Thanks! Will do!

I'm glad to hear that. Thank you.
Cool kit you had to love Tim what a guy was one of the first to were a full face helmet in nascar guy was a game changer Thanks Luka enjoyed 👍👍👍👍
I just picked up one of the old monogram kits
That's a cool kit! Might have to pick one up! Thanks for showing it, Luka
Any time!
Never enough Nascar history. I could watch you do video's like this for hrs.
Thank you. I really enjoy making these videos.
I had to go look into my old Monogram Time Richmond Folgers Monte. Yep, same stuff. Mine's still in the bags. Man, I feel old. lol
Green etching primer will stop the color bleeding.
Had a Grand Prix with Folgers decals back in the 80s or 90s, least I think it was a Grand Prix, I also want to say it was driven by Tim Richmond.
Mark Martin drove a Folgers Thunderbird in 1990, Monogram made a kit of it.
Tim drove a dark red Grand Prix with Old Milwaukee as the sponsor. That was a Raymond Beetle car #27
Hendrick Racing never ran Pontiacs.
So you are better off with the vintage Monogram kit and some Powerslide decals? Pricewise.

If you can get a kit on blowout.
Probably not

@@jebstuart1323 Original Monogram or Salvinos??
I just acquired the Monogram kit (only paid 22.00) minus the decals, but I'm going the get Earnharts Silver #3 decals to build that model

@@TheModelingNut I bought the sheet from Mike's before the kit was even delivered

Hey, Luka Cee I just got mine the other day.

Interesting because I will be doing 2 of Tim’s cars. Both painted
Your only worth 10 percent off. Maybe BG would be worth more he's taller. HAHA. keep up the good work. I'm in Salvinos club also. love it
Luka cee i'm looking for the old amt big block valve covers the smooth ones can you help me find them please reply thank you
Sooooo. I was hoping that would be a 1959 Chevy impala. So we can see how pros paint a hard shell with a rattle can.
