Fantastic video comparison for us who have the Note 20 Ultra and have been thinking about the new s23 Ultra. Feels like trading in a car without the major purchase decision. The Note 20 is still an awesome phone.
I had been debating going to the 23 ultra, but I really like my Note 20 Ultra. I'd like the better camera, but I think I'll probably stick with my Note. It's hard to beat having a 1tb memory card to add to the 512gb phone memory.
I loved my note 20 ultra. Considering it's age.. It's still a very great phone. That being said, I upgraded to the S23 ultra with no regrets. Battery life alone was worth it to me. It's just better.. Yes because of age, but also it's just better out the box than my note 20 was. I 2nd the camera.. Yes my note 20 took great pictures, the 23 takes amazing shots. Worth the upgrade? For me.. Yes it was... I wouldn't be upset if I still had my note 20 though either 😀
I wish I could have kept a Note 20 Ultra as a back up. Even though Android 13 is its last major update, it should be getting an extra year of security patches. Like you said, No regrets though. Beautiful display, faster charging, and probably the best battery life that I have ever gotten out of a flagship Android device.
About what I expected. Gamers and SD card enthusiasts... S23U is basically a waste of money. If you're tight on cash and don't want to be tied to a an overpriced plan on a major carrier just to pay it in payments, you're better to keep your Note 20U and wait a year for deals on new or refurb S23U. If you're like me and had your note for 2-1/2 + years, always buy the phone outright so you can move around to whatever carrier has the best deal whenever you want, and you're a photo enthusiast (or your on your phone constantly) then this is a compelling upgrade. Best deal is $600 off at Google Fi for a Factory Unlocked phone with no carrier branding. You just need to stay with them 4 months then you can move to wherever you want. The refresh rate 60 vs 120 at 1440p. BIG DEAL. Everyone is so unecessarily obsessed with numbers. By the way, the daytime non-zoom photo quality is more or less the same. The S23U just applies more sharpening. 10X and beyond zoom is WAY better on the S23U. Low light is slightly better on the S23U but not enough to buy the phone if your main goal is better low light photography. Also, video stabilization is WAY better on S23 Ultra than S22 and Note 20. There's tons of examples out there like this: th-cam.com/video/UinGl8Oqrf4/w-d-xo.html But this is nothing you can fix up in video editing software. Just nice to be stabilized right from the camera. Main reason to get this phone is (as mostly confirmed by this reviewer) - Zoom photography - Insane battery life - Great video stabilization - Brighter screen in sunlight situations Everything else is just a much of numeric spec BS marketed to get people excited.

It's not a huge upgrade but the s23 ultra is a better phone. Feels better in the hand in my opinion. I get about 3 more hours of SOT which makes it worth it to me. The battery life is excellent on the s23 ultra. Everything feels a little bit smoother and I hated the huge camera bump on the note 20 ultra. The external storage is fading. They are getting rid of it whether we like it or not. It sucks but it is what it is. I got the 512 gb and I don't see myself going through that in 3 years. Note 20 ultra was a beast of a phone but the s23 ultra feels better to me in every category.

Great content. I love my note20 ultra rose gold phone. I have a 1 tb memory card on my phone, which cost me 50 bucks. Now, if you bought the s23 ultra 1tb model, that would have cost at least 1,600 to 1,700. I paid 1,199 brand new from T-MOBILE. So total it cost me 1,250. At least 500 cheaper then the s23 ultra 1tb. As for camera. After 3 gen of upgrading the s23 ultra better be better then the note20 ultra. Overall my note20 ultra is still a beast. And I have 7 more payments on through T-MOBILE. Maybe then I'll upgrade.
The 23 ultra produces better fine/texture details in 12 mp shots. Older Samsungs used to smudge details with their older terrible noise reduction system(bad processing). They are much better preserved with this new sensor and lenses. And of course the 50 mp raw, much better video(day and night) , 50 mp and 200mp jpegs. Ufs 4.0. Better battery. Brighter screen. Many reasons to upgrade😎
This is a very detailed review and it is very informative. Thanks a lot. I plan on buying the Note 20ultra primarily cause i am more of a screen and Note fan
I've had my Note 20 Ultra for ~2.5 years now, my battery life is garbage now I'll admit but other than that I see no reason to upgrade for now. I'll wait for the S24 or S25.
Not a big difference at all people who have the note 20 ultra should keep it for at least 5 years! I have the S23 ultra but i came from the note 20 ultra and its not a day and night difference between the note 20 ultra and the S23 ultra. My girlfriend has my note 20 ultra now and it's 3 years old now and still works the same as the day i bought it, and still looks as new to. It's the note 20 ultra snapdragon 865 version, the only thing is a little loss of the battery capacity. But she is going to replace the battery for a original new one at the samsung store, i think it will last another 3 years again.
Thank you for the video. This helped me deciding if I should upgrade. I love having the micro sd card. The camera, processor speed, and battery aren't impressive enough for me to upgrade. I'll keep my Note 20 Ultra until it breaks!
I just subscribed because I loved your way of comparing while being very truthful. May will say upgrade just because it's the latest chipset. But so long as old chipsets still do good job, you can stick to it and save some cash
I have the note 20 ultra right now just got the screen and battery replaced. I agree they aren't to much different so ill stuck with the note 1 more year now that I have new screen and battery.
Very special phone. Last flagship from Samsung to support expandable storage and MST in Samsung Pay, yet still sporting the relatively new UWB. Also, SoC (snapdragon variant) is the one just before two consecutive generations of questionable SoC from Qualcomm (sd888 and SD 8 gem ). It's such a pity Samsung decides not to keep supporting it. Maybe if it receives enough support and feedback Samsung might change its mind. Can't imagine though. Also the 1Tb sd card/dual sim option🔥
Appreciate the video, especially the 'to the point' benefits at the end. I hate having to rewatch a video with a pad and pen writing down the differences. I too will be holding on to my 20 there just isn't a benefit for me.
3 years later and minimal updates. You get a smaller screen, no MST, and no SD card. What's new? Slightly better cameras, better hardware and chip, and battery life. Is that worth $1600 for the 1TB unlocked model for minimal changes?
I still don't get it why people always upgrade their flagship phones every year, wherein they are designed to last for 5 or more years until they are unusable. Like yeah I know last Android 13 update but for what? Apps in Play store will support an Android version for around 5 or 6 more years.
The S23 Ultra's camera only wins by a stretch in overall video quality. Photographically, the Note 20U puts up a good fight. It is such an underrated device.
@@neilmcguinness4422 I agree with you. Smartphone cameras this decade haven’t really changed much. If you want the best photo and video quality, you are better off buying an actual camera.
I love my note 20 ultra! So many good moments. But upgraded to s23 ultra, the battery is much more comfortable, as well as the upgrade in processor and everything else. I wouldn't say it's super necessary to upgrade, but for me was certainly worth it. There will be upgrades to the chip, it will get better. Remember it's the latest processor.
Note 20 Ultra was the best best phone I've ever had. It was the only phone I bought twice. The 1st time I "upgraded" to the z flip 4. Great phone, but it wasn't durable enough, so I bought another note 20 for 370. I did get a bit concerned when I heard samsung wouldn't support the N20U after 2023, and with the latest promo and trade in deal from samsung, I went ahead and bought the s23 ultra at $400. That being said, living with both right now, I wouldn't make that purchase at full price
Where and how did you buy the S23 at that price? I'm seriously considering an upgrade from my Note 20 Ultra, but having to pay seven hundred with trade- in?
Samsung had a trade in promo at the time that offered 800 for my note 20 ultra. Unfortunately with the current promo, Samsung is only offering 405 for the device
Just got the note 20 ultra in September, i would've bought the s23 ultra but i hated that it didn't have a sd card slot for my emulation roms and pictures. The note 20 ultra is a big upgrade from the note 8 i had
Nice video but it would be nice if you would have covered reliability when it comes to making calls and drop calls, especially inside of buildings Also receiving and sending text messages inside of buildings, and other places where some phones have issues
I was trying to decide and the phones seem very similar. I saved $800 and upgraded to the s20note ultra from the s10. The s20 n ultra just seems to be a no brainer money wise. I also got a Mortoria g pure for work andcthe battery lasts forever.
Deciding between the s23 Ultra and Note20 Ultra as well, not sure if I should spend extra and just get the s23 Ultra but I can't stand not having a SD card
I used the S23 Ultra for a month and sending it back. My Note 10 + is lighter, and battery lasts longer. Not worth it yet. My Note 10 has a sd slot also and 512GB with 12 GB ram.
Tf idgaf about 1440 res on my PHONE I'm not putting my phone an inch away from my eye lol, 1080p 120hz is perfect and I got an SD card! Had a 128 model now I got a 512 model for $400 plus my SD card lol now on my pc I'll put good money towards a nice screen also my TV. That s23 ultra looks like a pos compared to the note...im saving money and getting the note bc u hit that x on pub g about a dozen times. It also loaded alot slower.
When it comes to any phone, people think that they need the latest Android and phone as it's just a money racket scam by Samsung, A phone is a phone as don't know why people get sucked in and obsessed to keep buying one. I will stick to the Note20 ultra 5G 512GB as 3 years update as only had 2 updates of Android as if yes or not for one for update, will still keep it until its last dying day as I can live without a phone as not even a big user of any phone as to not even got a game on my note20 ultra 5G as I'm not a game lover, Until now, big changer is no SD card slot but once back will buy again,

Nice comparison bro, I like the wallpapers on both phones especially the note 20 ultra, how do I get them?
I currently have both phones... it isn't worth upgrading to be be honest.
Thank you!
I it worth the upgrade when you think as software upgrades?
You my friend do great work and have earned a subscriber. I have a Note 20 Ultra and will probably wait for the s25U
Bruh the Note 20U is like 90% of what the S23U is for 20% of the price thats insane
Nice review, brought out key points to make the correct decision on. thanks
note 20 ultra's side bezels are superior and best for it's design, the only problem is that it's prone to accidental touches
Thanks for making this video, i'm going to trade in my N20U for the S23U, i think it's going to be a bigger difference since mine runs the Exynos 990
Definitely
I will buy Note 20 Brother thank you for the review I have a tight budget.😊
This is a very detailed review and it is very informative. Thanks a lot. I plan on buying the Note 20ultra primarily cause i am more of a screen and Note fan
I've had my Note 20 Ultra for ~2.5 years now, my battery life is garbage now I'll admit but other than that I see no reason to upgrade for now. I'll wait for the S24 or S25.
Same
Great video but a minor flaw. I wish you used the same wallpaper and not dark mode on one of the phones, it should be apple to Apple comparison.
As I thought. I’ll keep the note 20 ultra for another 3 years and save some money.
No SD card on 23 No. Thank you I'll keep my note 20 ultra
If you use emulators, the difference in performance is huge, but no MicroSD sucks.
I went from the N20U to the Fold 3 to the S23U. I think it is an upgrade from the note to the new S.
Upgrading from the Note 10 Plus, which of these 2 would you recommend? 😊
Thank you for the video. This helped me deciding if I should upgrade. I love having the micro sd card. The camera, processor speed, and battery aren't impressive enough for me to upgrade. I'll keep my Note 20 Ultra until it breaks!
Same
Note 20 Ultra all the way
Thanks for the breakdown 💯
I just subscribed because I loved your way of comparing while being very truthful. May will say upgrade just because it's the latest chipset. But so long as old chipsets still do good job, you can stick to it and save some cash
Thank you. This was a very informative and honest review.I am going to hold onto my Note 20 ultra.
damn after seein the s23 aint got a sd card slot its a no brainer to stick with my note 20 ultra, aint worth the money to upgrade in my opinion...
I care about the SD car support.. I still have the S20 Ultra. This has the best battery I've ever had in a phone
I wish they bring the 6.9 screen back
Is barely noticeabley larger than the 6.8" screen, and I think they reduced it to try to make the phone's size more manageable.
Im going to hold on to my note 20 ultra until the wheels fall off plus its the last Note ever
Same here
I have the note 20 ultra right now just got the screen and battery replaced.
Maybe if it receives enough
support and feedback Samsung might change its mind. Can't imagine though.
Also the 1Tb sd card/dual sim option🔥
Thank you. I've decided not to upgrade I cannot see that much difference.
Both are solid as a rock the s20 supports sd cards too
I'm going to wait for the S25Ultra, next year, if we are still Alive, lol.
I hate the curved display on the S20. Curved displays have no functionality. It only makes an already fragile product more fragile in my opinion.
It's how mine busted with lots of protection
Can u do a video comparison for 11 pro and the 12
Note 20 has the better picture
Appreciate the video, especially the 'to the point' benefits at the end. I hate having to rewatch a video with a pad and pen writing down the differences.
I too will be holding on to my 20 there just isn't a benefit for me.
3 years later and minimal updates. You get a smaller screen, no MST, and no SD card.
What's new? Slightly better cameras, better hardware and chip, and battery life.
Is that worth $1600 for the 1TB unlocked model for minimal changes?
If you need a new phone and plan to keep it for than 2 years, yes it is worth it.
I would try finding one second hand for a cheaper price and then just do light maintenance
I still don't get it why people always upgrade their flagship phones every year, wherein they are designed to last for 5 or more years until they are unusable.
Like yeah I know last Android 13 update but for what? Apps in Play store will support an Android version for around 5 or 6 more years.
Love my note 20 ultra only paid $300 for it and it's fully unlocked
where?
@@aginajoseph341 has to be on AliExpress. I'm planning to get one there, but I'm unable to because of CBN issues with debit cards
Without a question, the S23 Ultra has the better camera by far over note 20 ultra
By far is a stretch. Any phone after 2020 are comparable.
Where did you get this live wallpaper that is displayed on S23 ultra?
I will not be upgrading my note 20 ultra any time soon 😂 bought it on release day and still works like new!
Samsung S23 ultra melhor em tudo mesmo grande compra eu fiz top demais.
How about the battery life? Are you sure there is a real world difference? During your Video the battery drain on the 2 devices is about the same....
Just got the note 20 ultra in September, i would've bought the s23 ultra but i hated that it didn't have a sd card slot for my emulation roms and pictures. The note 20 ultra is a big upgrade from the note 8 i had
Nice comparison 🔥
Yes sir! Thanks.
@@matthews-tech for sure ✊🏾
How you download that kind of wallpaper in your s23?
He already did a video on the same 3 days back.
Deciding between the s23 Ultra and Note20 Ultra as well, not sure if I should spend extra and just get the s23 Ultra but I can't stand not having a SD card
thank you. this was very helpful in deciding to upgrade.
How did u get that itachi wallpaper
From my view the note 20 ultra looks brighter and more colorful
I used the S23 Ultra for a month and sending it back. My Note 10 + is lighter, and battery lasts longer. Not worth it yet. My Note 10 has a sd slot also and 512GB with 12 GB ram.
I have my s20 note ultra for 3 years battery life is fuckt up after al these years thats the only reason i want to switch and mine camera is broken
Phone comon people....jus optimize your phone, close background apps, turn on enhanced processing under your pull down menu if you need a quick boost which you can have on with power saving!
That s23 ultra looks like a pos compared to the note...im saving money and getting the note bc u hit that x on pub g about a dozen times. It also loaded alot slower.
pretty amazing my N20U still a true heavy weight
What is this wallpaper called on note?
When it comes to any phone, people think that they need the latest Android and phone as it's just a money racket scam by Samsung,
A phone is a phone as don't know why people get sucked in and obsessed to keep buying one.
I will stick to the Note20 ultra 5G 512GB as 3 years update as only had 2 updates of Android as if yes or not for one for update, will still keep it until its last dying day as I can live without a phone as not even a big user of any phone as to not even got a game on my note20 ultra 5G as I'm not a game lover,
Until now, big changer is no SD card slot but once back will buy again,
Yeah, I have that same question in mind. I really don't get it why they always want the latest and "greatest" (even though the changes are not that significant).
Note 20 u 512gb is great still ! never would have given up my note 5 if it did not have so little memory ! too bad no SD card !
