A new drinking game. Take a drink every time a train TH-camr does an East Pakenham video
grate commer mayte I tryed dis
and try not to laugh…
It will be used a lot by people driving down from Gippsland during train disruptions. My brother in law was driving down to Pakenham already for work every day.
The road access from that direction is a pain
This may as well be another strangest train station video.
I understand it's a requirement to have landings and seats on long accessible ramps to meet disability requirements, so an elderly person or someone with mobility restrictions can stop for a short rest on the way. I've seen those at stations like McKinnon and Bentleigh, although the seats are smaller than you saw at East Pakenham.
Typical ableist TH-camr checking in
@@2_pelicans mate, what are you on about
This station is definitely going into his next 'Strangest Stations in Melbourne' video.
They were giving out muffins at East Pakenham (and Pakenham) during the morning peak period of the first day.
For this section of track, it's a return of electrification as the line used to be electrified to Traralgon. The bus bit is mainly for the replacement buses and the future extension of the nearby bus routes. Warragul used to be where the Pakenham line service ended before victrack/vicgov said no more wires.
The line was already electrified down to East Pakenham to serve Pakenham East Depot.
@@mjcats2011 it was re-electrified after the 1990s removal of wires installed in the 1950s
@@rod.h8064 Exactly, the point is that Electrification did not happen due to the new Station.
@rod.h8064 I'm assuming you're talking about the suburban trains, predominantly Commeng, ran to Warragul. They were actually running to a VLine timetable, not the suburban TT. There weren't as many as they have now going to Traralgon. Pakenham was still the end of the line for the regular trains. There were a lot of issues with the suburban trains(Sparks) causing the overhead to come down. I worked at Pakenham (Signal Asst) in the late '80s and then at Berwick and Narre Warren and from what I can recall, the issues with the O'head were the main force is finally removing the lines and reverting back to the diesel service.
@@lynwill65Yes, suburban electric trains. And I know of the L-class electric locos that were used on Traralgon service and for some limited urban freight. I gathered that main reason why all the overhead was removed was from insufficient maintenance and being life expired.
Great video as usual. I haven't been there yet bcuz i'm too lazy to go all the way there and back, considering my stop is malmsbury on the bendigo line. Keep up the good vids!
In 50 years, you may understand why there is a seat halfway up the ramp.
0:18 mernda was actually a rebuild.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see a train station and bus exchange infrastructure put up before a mass new neighbourhood is populated. The local council has opened up a vote to re-name the suburb due to the scale of the future developments there (7000+ new homes according to them). My best guess is that 'E Pakenham' is a temporary name until the new suburb name is finalised.
This is what should have been done with Clyde/Clyde Nth before the area exploded in population. Smh
WHAT?! This is the first I'm hearing of this. Crazy
Great vid mate
3:10 Melbourne Central isn't displayed on desto boards normally afaik.
@Qazzy I wish you a safe travel to Japan and hope you have a splendid time holidaying over there, too.
Using the prefix N, E, S or W is quite common in America when naming stations or streets.
After the V/line trains officially return on Thursday and I travel into Melbourne on a weekend, I’ll definitely pass through and have a quick look 👀 at it. “Hehe :D”*

Woahh opened on my birthday lmao
Newest & Strangest Station
they should add clyde then extend that line to come into berwick, connecting the two
nice video qazzy
Does Sunbury have the same issue that Pakenham had with V/Line trains and terminating suburban trains? I mean, it has many V/Line services running through it to Bendigo and beyond. If so, would they extend/further electrify the Sunbury line too?
Sunbury has a unelectrified passing track in between its two platforms.
they terminate half of all sunbury trains at watergardens, and wgs has a platform specifically for terminating metro services, meaning v/line can run thru platform 3 and not be held up by other trains. sunbury has 2 bi-directional platforms with crossovers at both ends, and combined with the 40-min frequency that it gets, v/line can pass thru without major delays
@@VisibleReality Oh, I didn't know. Thanks.
@@mineyon-ms Oh yeah, I forgot about Watergardens terminating services. Makes sense. Thanks.
Dandenong is a large city and easily reachable by train from Pakenham. I work in the Melbourne CBD and formerly commuted from Morwell in the Latrobe Valley. The replacement buses became too much and I moved to Melbourne. So please don't think that it isn't possible to commute from Pakenham.
the Clyde extension has been talked about since you were in nappys, it isnt happening anytime soon mate
first lol. nice vid watched it in 3 seconds.
Will we see a (or several) Japan train video??
probably not
@@QazzyTransport understandable, hope you'll have a great time in Japan!
Do some train videos in Japan while you’re there
Will u upload in Japan?
0:27 Nah 2018 was 2 years ago i swear
location? 7:04
I went to Japan last year! :)
Japans strangest train stations?
I would love to but unfortunately international videos don't do well on this channel...
Love to see tax dollars going to super useful stations in the middle of nowhere rather than an airport train line that could benefit millions.
The freeway on the other side of the station is the urban growth boundary so no.
for now...
Hi
any japan content :(
