    Epic nerfing the Spider-Man mythic in competitive only is a huge step in the right direction to fix this imbalance between competitive and casual imo. Huge opportunity to please both communities by having mostly different loot pools + weapon attributes in both comp and casual. Similar to how they added siphon in competitive only, it can be done and I hope we see more changes in competitive playlists only in the future. I personally don’t see a downside to this? The hardest thing about this discussion is getting casual and competitive players on the same page. I'll admit it. I find myself internally hating epic for things like the sm mythic or stingers, but at the end of the day, we need to have BOTH a comp and casual community. I think we should work on understanding each other's perspectives better, since while playing, most people only think of their own experience and will make some rude tweet at epic for a feature that makes the game more enjoyable for other people.

      It’s not hard at all. In fact I think most people who have ever been interested with comp could do a pretty decent job at it. Just completely split the game. Utilise the elite and prac discords and have say the top 500 placing players on each region completely decide what happens in the competitive part of the game. Then have a semi competitive section where it’s still made for good players where you can have skillfull fights etc but also with more fun items. Say like boogie bombs (short time) planes and other things. Then have a completely casual mode. Unvault anything. Brutes, have max siphon from every kill. And just overall a massively spray meta in this playlist

    We need to stop this sentiment of weapons being OP in pubs and balanced in comp. They should be balanced in pubs AND comp. I’m saying this as someone who plays both. At the end of the day why bother playing arena? Do these SMGs help bad players? Sure sometimes but just look at the FortniteBR subreddit and all you’ll see is complaints about SBMM or people complaining about players who should be playing in FNCS being in their games when they’re probably not that good at all. These OP weapons just get abused by the better players in the pub lobbies and don’t really help the casuals or make it more fun for them IMHO. Sure put some season related fun stuff in pubs to keep it fresh but I think both modes should have a similar loot pool with balanced items.

Especially when jur3ky was disrespecting evan (one of the devs) you cant be talking like that to devs and epic workers and expect them to take you serious. No one is gonna take the comm serious if pros are gonna keep threatening epic games employees. Being toxic to each other for banter is one thing. But in my opinion any shit talking (especially targeted harrasment) towards devs should lead to either a temporary suspention, or for players signed to orgs a sensitivity training. But hearing them laugh and have fun when they kill a better player than them makes my day. I think the games in the best state it can be after chapter 2 season 3.
    The spray meta may not be the best but the diversity of the loot pool makes the game enjoyable. Lemme give an example. When the charge came out very few people liked it. All of a sudden ramp rushing became a thing to get up to the top of the enemies 1x1s and then the game slowly evolved into a battle for high ground.

I agree with ninja on alot of points but when he was talking about the complaining part I agreed as well with him, except for him referring to the Twitter chaos from this chapter epic should have fixed the meta first thing for comp but they didn't, they kept on doing nothing so right now for the comp scene to loose their minds is pretty understandable. Pro players play this game for hours on end every single day because it's their job and they need to make money, so for them to force themselves to play the game can have big negative psychological effects on their minds eventually leading to them going full ape shit on Twitter because they can't handle it any more, while on the other side they can't afford to stop playing cause then they can risk to fall behind. Having a better ranked mode (more separation) is right now in my opinion the only thing that can safe this game...

    I assume Epic has some sort of data/metrics on the perspectives of casual players on the meta, but my personal take is a bit different. I'm not a complete casual, nor a complete comp player. I like to play arena and tournaments (for fun, knowing I'll never place super high). But I also play lots of pubs with some people who don't even know how to build. I don't see how anyone likes the spray meta. I don't even think it's that fun for super casual players. Yeah, they can get kills they normally couldn't get. But I feel like it will work against them more than it works for them. ie. you're more likely to die to it, then to get a kill with it. Anyway, I think a happy balance can be found - whether that be making two separate loot pools or just further nerfing the spray guns this chapter. I think it's possible to nerf the spray guns to the point where they won't be game breaking in competitive, but also won't be "underpowered". Get them to a state where casuals can still get cheesy kills occasionally, but not where a good player can abuse them to absurd levels against other good players.

If you were a pro player for a sport like football, basket ball soccer, skiing that could get you disqualified from the competition because it’s completely unprofessional but the problem with esports is it’s hard to draw a line like that because they can’t hear what you are saying all the time. There's a huge chasm between the 5 year old who plays Fortnite once every couple days on their PS4 and the number of top tier players edit coursing and piecing up people on their PCs. There are people in between like me who are decent at the game, and I haven't seen a fun bot lobby in months, I haven't won a solo game in almost a year, but my K/D still only hovers around 1. Quick correction for one thing I noticed you said, the Drum Gun was brought back at the end of chapter 1 season 8, not chapter 1 season 10. And while Ninja does make amazing points, I don't think casual play being the majority of the player base means it's ok to have no item balance. I can't even do a basic triple edit, that's how much of a casual I am. However, it's gotten to a point where it's not even fun to kill with the Stinger, MK7, Grenade Launcher, or Heavy Shotgun anymore. It's not like me playing low ground smart in pubs against people who are trying to do constant edit courses, I just knock them down with a Grenade Launcher or spray weapon or get a ton of damage with a Heavy Shotgun shot. It's not fun because it doesn't feel earned. It's like when I used the mechs and UFOs, the weapons are so terribly unbalanced that it doesn't feel rewarding to kill someone with them because even if you would've killed them in a balanced meta, the kill just feels undeserved with such a broken weapon. People have fun when there's a challenge they overcome through means such as their intelligence or skill, not when they easily fly through everything without effort. That's what bores people and makes them move to other games. When the meta is as unbalanced as it currently is, nothing feels fun or rewarding, which is why this season has the highest quit rate since around season 11. People argue "oh, just don't use the broken weapons." I can see why someone would make that argument because, on paper, it seems like a solid rebuttal. However, in practice, these weapons are so overwhelming to the point where you have to use them if you don't want to get run over by them. Yeah, I'd love to use a weapon as fun and balanced as the Ranger, but unfortunately, it's completely invalidated in every way by the MK7 and you don't have a legitimate chance to win if you take the Ranger over the MK7.

    1 difference between apex and fortnite, or even fortnite and most games with a ranked system / comp scene is that most of the games have a better ranked system than compared to fortnite and that is something that is going to help with fortnite comp in the next few seasons, and with the players complaining, Ninja is right, they get paid to do this and if this was in any other place where someone got paid to do something and their employer or the person paying them to do their job seen all the negative comments on social media then they would be disciplined or fired (obviously different for e-sports) but I can see where Ninja is coming from and I agree with a lot of what he is saying

    This entire issue is fixed by giving competitive Playlists a completely different loot pool, optimized for competitive play.
    Normal ars, og pumps, tacs, mp5's only, bolt action snipers, and a dmr style rifle. Maybe its an infantry rifle but with a scope like the aug, reduce headshot multiplier and slow down the rof.
    Heals are a valance of fishing, chests, and ground loot. Replace bandages with slurp juices, but make them slower. Increase flopper to 50 hit points but you can only carry 3, make the skinny gray fish a green, make them stackable to 6, and keep them at 25 per fish, and can only heal to 50 or 75.
    Bouncers, impulses not shockwaves, launch pads, and ballers for mobility in solos while ballers in duo and trios could be replaced by cars, if you're worried about that. If not, just make it cars and ballers apart of the item pool.
    Its not complicated

No matter if you are a noob or a semi pro the fact that you can get knocked in less than 1 second by 2 mks from distance is bad, why they nerfed the snipers if not from that reason? It is such a cheap way to make low skill players feel good with themselves but in the end it can turn back at them as well.

    Talking about spray meta specifically. It's fun for casuals. It's fun because it's really easy to do and will get you kills and wins. But it being easy is the exact reason why it's so annoying competitively. It's not competitive. There is no skill gap that is separating the top tier pros who deserve to be in the FNCS finals from the players who are relying on one really broken thing. Unknownxarmy would be a really good example. Obviously, he was a great player, not denying that, but his meteoric rise to the top can be explained quite a bit by the meta at the time (spray), as well as legacy aim assist. As soon as those things changed he just quickly dropped off the map to where he probably should be, which is a mid to high level cash cup player. By comparison, you have a player like clix, whose rise can be explained by the fact that he was innovating and creating an entirely new playstyle (piece control and box fighting) that had never been seen before and is still the current meta 2 years later. He was relying on just a better understanding of the game, whereas unknown was relying on an easy meta that he was just able to perfect. And for the record, not really a fan of either player, nor do I hate either, they just seemed like the easiest comparisons to make.

  • @jakemilano8868
    @jakemilano8868 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Ninja could be onto something. It's different from Warzone and Apex because a professional game of Fortnite looks completely unrecognizable compared to a casual game of fortnite. I think if we want their to be another wave of stars on the level of Clix and Benjy, we would need more casual viewership of comp. And for that to happen I think games would have to be less about looting uncontested pois, surge tags and endgame refresh strategies and more about finding out who the best fighters are. If a game came down to Clix and Deyy vs Bugha and Mero where both teams are fully stacked and we aren't even in moving circle yet. Neither can surprise each other its just a straightforward fight for the W... that would be considered an awful, dead game. But I think that would be more interesting to 80% of Fortnite casuals than the way games play out now, and it would provide for more big time moments. I think even adding a gulag system where we actually get to see pros fight straight up would make comp fornite more interesting to a lot of people.

    • @gixnto
      @gixnto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wouldn’t work due to the fact that’s it’s a battle royale game. The main objective in a battle royale game is to get the win and be the last one alive. In Fortnite it’s only so different because of the mechanics and how good people got with them. In apex and war zone for example, people camp and get good positioning in order to have a better chance at being the last player(s) alive. They stay in houses, hide behind cover, look for high ground, etc. The only difference between Fortnite and games like apex/warzone is that, in Fortnite your able to make your own cover, high ground, positioning, etc. That’s why the skill ceiling is so high in competitive. People learned different ways in order to do that. If it was just fighting like team v team or player v player, it wouldn’t be a battle royale anymore it would jus be like a cod tdm or 1v1 with the building/editing mechanic. Sure casuals would love it but they can see that anyway if they just watch competitive game mode like a cash cup or fncs. The top players end up fighting each other one way or another. Just not in a controlled environment like it would be if it’s creative or only them on the map.

    • @jakemilano8868
      @jakemilano8868 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gixnto appreciate that response. I wasn’t suggesting that battle Royal as a game mode should be eliminated just to be clear. But maybe there’s a way to have the games play out differently with some changes. What you mentioned about fighting in cash cups and fncs is a little different because pros are mostly destroying people that won’t end up in the final lobbies there. When you said pros end up fighting eventually… Sure it happens kinda, but i feel like the fight isn’t straightforward often enough. It’s more likely that the fight isn’t a balanced one to start based on loot situations or whatever. Or a random positioning advantage. I want to clarify that I don’t even know how you could change this or if I’d want to btw I’m just thinking about why a casual might not find pro games entertaining.
      Just thinking for a sec Maybe if kills were worth significantly more in the first 75% of the game and less in the final 25% of the game. Might make it to where fighting became more worth it and you weren’t automatically out of the tournament if you’re contested. Idk

    • @gixnto
      @gixnto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakemilano8868 I mean I see where your coming from but a fighting format in general would be bad for comp. Since most of Fortnite’s tournaments are open to everyone, a elimination heavy format would be horrible for the casual players that want to try comp. The pros/semi pros would just kill of everyone in the lobby and the casuals wouldn’t stand a chance in the tournament ruining it for them. Sure it might be exciting to watch but for most casuals they watch and then want to try out comp. Fortnite’s comp scene is so good due to the fact that it has open tournaments and the only gateway is how good you are at the game.
      It would be the same thing either way if you are in the t1 skill of Fortnite. You’ll see the t1 players fight but it’s never going to be in a controlled environment. Making the one of the teams always have an advantage like positioning, loot, timing, etc. The closest thing a to what I think your describing would be the zone war tournaments that they used to run but that didn’t really pull as much views as the real br tournament. The fights were just who was more mechanically skilled and not who was actually the best player in “Fortnite battle royale” if that makes sense. Which is way faze sway would win almost every zone war tournament but never actually place in a cash cup finals or fncs.
      Im pretty sure they tried to increase the point per elimination in one of the past fncs’s but the t1 pros still played for endgame/win due to the fact that they have a high chance at winning the tournament if there consistently dying around top 5. Fighting lowers the chance of placing highly and ruins both the your game and the opponents game which is why t1 pros make loot routes and drop maps. Fighting may be entertaining to the casuals but it wouldnt really be competitive. All player would really have to work on is one skill (fighting) instead of the multiple skills it takes to be a t1 pro.
      I hope you understood what I’m trying to say cause I’m just ranting from a comp persepective :P

    Your last point about professionalism is extremely valid and I agree with it, but I can't help but feel that the competitive community is kind of justified with their comments. Epic Games adds things into competitive that are so mind-bogglingly bad for comp that you can't help but wonder what on Earth they were thinking. Things that are so obviously bad that you wouldn't even need to playtest it to know they were bad. Things that if you playtest them once, it would be glaringly obvious how bad they were. And yet they get added into comp and stay in comp for months. I'm not defending the comp community with their unprofessionalism, but they have very valid complaints. I genuinely thought that the mech would get taken out of arena after the first day it was added, and yet it was in comp for the ENTIRE SEASON. That one turbo build nerf which made building impossible, moisty palms, and tilted town convinced me that Epic doesn't playtest anything. How epic blatantly ignored how ridiculously busted aim assist was made the comp community feel like Epic doesn't care about them. This was then made even worse with stuff like Midas' Drum Gun, Brutus' Minigun, and Kit's Shockwave Launcher. Imagine if Valorant added something that automatically killed the entire enemy team. People would be going crazy. It would be absurd. Yet, Fortnite had an equivalent of this which was nade stacking. A squad can just walk 60m away from your base and your entire team is dead. No matter what. Even if the nades don't kill you, the ensuing lobby spray will.

    I believe lower skill gap is needed in Fortnite comp, not to that extend, but so you can have a sort off in-between spray meta and 200 pumps, like imagine a Stinger with fire-rate of 11 and more damage drop-off, right now, it can hit for consistent damage from really far away, instead make it go 8 damage, like the old one did. We still have rather strong weapon, but weakened by some extent. MK7, could use slightly less fire-rate, about 8, maybe 7.5.

    The spiderman mythic Nerf is good, they just need to nerf the smg fire rate

    I understand that they must cater to both casual and competitive player, but what I don't understand for the past 2 years is that why can't they split loot pools? There isn't any harm in that 🤷. having smg fire faster in casual, while lower damage and lower fire rate in comp will make it so much better.

    i respect the view but i dont fully agree with it. yes complaining doesnt help at all but i think pros take it to twitter to vent out their frustration rather than to ask epic to make a change, since they know that asking them nicely will be to no avail. not really sure about this tbh would love to see other peoples views on this

    Tbh sbmm has ruined pubs. If you have decent stats you know. And with no loot pool separation pubs and arena feel the exact same, at least in my experience

    Competitive players have been saying this is the worst season ever, for most casuals its one of the best so much content, having fun, easy meta, its been great. I understand both sides, comp thinks its frustrating to go against spray meta and would prefer box fight meta, but you they gotta keep up

    In the end of the day for fortnite to flourish it needs to stop caring about comp

    From my perspective (casual player) I kinda agree with ninja like a casual player can't play a game without a pro just shits on him. I as a casual player cannot see where the skill based match is, for example one week ago I was playing fortnite wen a sweat doing triple edits and all Uncessary edits and by just looking at it I quit the game.Like wen there is a competitive modes such as arena I personally don't understand y they had to introduce skill based match making. We can't get a win without sweating our butts off and after going for a kill there is going to be a player with the smgs. For fortnite they really need to listen to the community a little more. Wen sypherpk started standing up against skill based match making they(the company)completely misunderstood it and added almost all bots and if u were a casual player in a squad u were gonna win because every1 in the game were bots. Talking about the spary matter it just gives a casual player a chance to kinds compete head to head against a pro player.Its like the introduction of mechs into the game. Taking that Into consideration epic games shouldn't have removed the tac shotgun because if u r a casual (personally) u r bound to miss alot of shots

    What’s stopping epic from elevating both loot pools having certain stats for guns in comp and casual.

      if they do that then they dont get the reward of pissing off the entire pro community every season
