I hope that wealth turns into life long wealth and he doesn’t just waste it away. I’ve never followed the guy. But there has been a lot of millionaires that go broke in their later years.
I mean, Ninja played a game he loved, got the bag and dipped all in the span of 4 years… now he’s able to do the things he enjoys doing for the rest of his life not having to stress about money or job security. Sounds like a W to me 🤷🏼♂️
W for making a living of gaming, But he's an L kind of person imo, i liked him growing up but the more i watched him it just shows how childish he still is, and it really shows that he was only about the money, but alot of people are like that so i guess i can't hate, but i can see why other people have grown to dislike ninja alot
Except his spending habits grew according to his ridiculous monthly take home. Now he has to maintain and pay taxes on the huge house he bought, the cars he owns and so on. With an estimated worth of 25 mil currently he could live well for a long time but he has to invest that money wisely and to me it doesn't seem like he has surrounded himself with those that give good advice, or maybe he just doesn't listen to those that give good advice.
This guy is set for life so i wouldn’t be mad if my “career” died. Now he doesn’t have to be a clown at a birthday party for little kids. He is probably relieved to be able to go back to himself before he blew up.
That's very easy to say, but if you lose your identity and your endeavor, you won't care about your money. Look at Notch, after selling Minecraft for billions he fell into an existencial crisis and depression.
Nice to see that everyone in the comments is pointing out that this video seemed more biased than the rest and Ninja can do whatever he wants after he earned his money. Dude is running it like a stepping stone into the next part of his life, nothing wrong with that.
He turned a hobby into business, after he accumulated enough, he turned it back into a hobby so he can enjoy life and live care free doing what he loves. Ninja cashed in and dropped the mic. Kudos!
Yeah, I agree with this. Having watched a fair bit of SunnyV2s content, it seems that maintaining any youtube channel for more then X years, especially when you focus on one game, is next to impossible. Yes Ninja "Sold Out" but hey? How much harm did he do actually do? Kids moved on, he cashed out. No one died. *Shrug Emoji*
😂 imagine being one of the most famous streamers of all time and becoming wealthy enough to put your grandkids’ grandkids thru college, and then you are criticized by Sunny for not being successful enough…
@@phobolt14 Yeah, I never understood the whole criticism of "selling out". There's very few professions that involve being famous with any assured longevity, you have to secure your own future. I get there's a grey line between being honest to your fans and selling out, but somebody famous once said "I do what I love and made it pay me. You sit sit in a cubicle from 9 til 5 at a job you don't like, but I'm the sell out?"
The man is a millionaire for life. Only way he's losing that is if he, idk, gets hooked on gambling or drugs or something. No need to feel sorry for him. Nothing lasts for ever.
10k is a lot, like imagine 10k people in 1 place. It's nothing near dead. He had a drop in popularity of course but he still has a career. So I dislike the title of the video but love the explanation and everything in it.
Its his percentage of viewer drop that makes it a drastic fall. Nobody is saying he isnt still making millions per year, just that his popularity fell at an alarming rate.
Bro, Ninja always said this is exactly how his career would go. At the height of his popularity people were asking him "why don't you take a break, you stream non-stop" and he would tell them "I don't take breaks from streaming cause this bubble will burst eventually and I'll be back to a regular streamer. I gottta make the most of this time." So it's pretty funny you're presenting this as a big shock to anyone that he dropped back to an average top streamer.
Well, he did not go back to being a regular streamer, he dropped to an average top streamer that is somewhat infamous, can't exactly do what he wants, but still gets paid milions in sponsorship. Depneding on his personality and ego, it can be much better or much worse. If he is able to just take the money, ignore the negativity and enjoy life, he actually lives the perfect life. But if he does not dissociate from his persona, it might be a huge and depressing ego bum, even if he saw it coming. In any cases, his career as a superstar is kind of dead. But yeah, it's not necessarilly a bad thing.
@@4xelchess905 if I was him I would be happy he got all money for being super famous and now he still get views and viewer and can be himself again and be this person on pedestal
I could care less about Ninja but this whole video was some weird personal attack. Honestly Sunny came off 10x more douschey than ninja. He knew this would end at some point and he can retire at 30 and chill. I watch a lot of sunnys vids but this one was unbelievably harsh for no reason other than ninja fucked his girl
@@4xelchess905 He's not infamous lol, all that happened is that people eventually forgot about him, and that's bound to happen to anybody if their career is pratically on a timer. Being a person famous for his gaming skills in a game that's also on a timer, will obviously give you some time of fame and wealth, but after nobody cares about the game, consequences are nobody eventually cares about you. He knew this was going to happen, and I am sure he doesn't feel bad that it did. He's got cash, he's changed the world, and he's set for fucking life. He doesn't care. I wouldn't, you shouldn't either. All of this was expected, and it's fine. He knew it was coming and he's fine with it. It's okay.
As someone who has only ever heard of Ninja but never seen any of his content (and I don't play Fortnite) - This video almost seemed like a hit piece. The dude doesn't seem that bad, and he didn't seem to make any objectively bad choices (except maybe leaving Twitch). There's no need to tear him apart and call him garbage or anything - it just makes you seem jaded.
Well to be fair him leaving twitch got him millions upons millions which most of us would never even see during our lifetimes. I've never even watched him either but good on him for basically securing a life out of the rat race for him and his family. I wish I had the dying career of ninja in all honesty lol
It was the wrong choice to leave Twitch if his goal was to be a streamer for the foreseeable future. But, if his goal was to make money, he definitely made the right choice. Guaranteed money from Mixer was a much better option than the uncertainty of money from a competitive platform like Twitch.
Exactly, people would kill to pull the numbers he gets now even though he is "dead." Why is only being in the 0.001% acceptable. It's a damaging goal to someone's mental health and those aiming to be streamers. Btw, love your videos.
This video is lacking the unbiased perspectives you usually portray. As it progressed, everything just felt more and more personal. A good video in terms of editing, but that’s it coming from someone who never really watched ninja apart from when fortnite peaked.
Definitely made his bag and you just got respect that end of the day his family and kids and future grandkids are set he's completed life now he can chill
@@OrangeAceGaming yeah he said that he had a tooth ache for very or something like that , that hurt his tooth which in turn make him unable to eat, and the one who should be asking, have you seen his stream lately? The man is back in shape
Ninja played the game of fame right, got the bag, made a brand and now can chill and played games with a fat stack behind him. He paved the way for others. That’s a dub
@@ruehl3853 Doesn't Ninja still have like 20k viewers when he plays Fortnite tho? These "he fell off" vids feels weird man, like they think he went to only having 120 viewers or something. dafuq?
@@TKBauer523 he went thru a time of way less but that was him playing FF. He said be didn't care about numbers anymore and just wanted to play whatever made him happy.
Honestly? Ninja did it right. He realized that once he wasn’t playing only kids and people started matching his skill level he noticed that it wasn’t going to be his skill that made him stand out so he created Ninja as a brand. He made something that has much more longevity. Ninja could stop streaming and uploading tomorrow and he would be fine just continue branding himself.
And Raid shadow legends gave him 5 million reasons haha. Only a fool wouldn't take that offer. $5 million for one game promotion sounds like he is doing things right
I don't understand why people watch people play video games like that. My college roommate used to watch people playing games online back in 09 and I thought it was the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Still do next to tik tok.
@@jhtsurvival Because we don't watch people playing videogames. Streaming isn't about games or skills, it's much more like a DJ mixed with an entertainer. And it's good as fuck. Also people aren't actively watching 8 hours everyday and are invested through it all, it's much more like a podcast or the radio. In fact Twitch users are mostly college students bumping the stream on their second monitor while studying and chatting during breaks. I prefer smaller streamers but if you *really* try to get an understanding I'd say check out videos from Mizkif, OTV & Friends, Ludwig, Jakenbake, etc... It will take you 10 minutes and will change your opinion on what a stream is really like outside of the stigma and the cliche being falsely spread around.
ye. he did everything right. he ended his unstable career on twitch with a multi-million dollar contract with mixer. he was even paid after the company died. his management is on point
He did it completely wrong, it was his personality that everyone fell in love with, he’s a very competitive person, having competition is what makes him grow, he died because he lost his unique personality that he had back in 2014- late 2017
I dont even watch ninja but honestly this guy was being unnecessarily sensitive for some reasons. Like anyone who doesn't have anything against ninja would willingly admit that what he did was rather genius, I dont see nothing wrong with it
Man cashed out on the mixer deal, literally earning $30 million for free after Mixer was shut down after a year from their contract. He's set for life and he doesn't even need to try
@@TheSpicyLeg He already conquered his challenges. He can still challenge himself, but only when he feels like it. Having that much money isn’t really an end goal but the fuel to continue them.

@@TheSpicyLeg i think hes pretty set, he in the next hotel Transylvania movie and plays what ever game he enjoys playing while being himself which is good to see.
Bro this video felt like a diss to Ninja. His career didn't really die, just declined. He didn't do anything wrong. He went in, got popular, made his money and now this is the natural thing that every career goes through.
SunnyV2 when someone achieved financial independance for the rest of their life and is now chilling doing whatever he feels like doing: "CAREER DEAD!!! ITS RUINNEDD, ITS ALL RUINNEEDDD!!! LIFE OVER!!!"
"It's so hard to comment if this was a good decision by Ninja" Option a.) $50 million dollars no risk Option b.) No $50 million dollars He must have had so many sleepless nights over that one...
Even tho he dropped in numbers, he still Has numbers in the top 10%. Not “dead” but yes bad in comparison. He’s still rich so I guess that’s what matters lol
Most people will blow that money within a decade. Athletes, actors and musicians typically go broke once the fame goes away. Lottery winners almost always go completely broke. They usually buy things that are expensive to maintain, make poor investments or fail at start up attempts, spend it on friends/partners/family, spend it on drugs and/or alcohol, etc. So he's rich for now anyways haha
Usually I agree with Sunny but he's straight up wrong here. Ninja knew exactly what he was doing. Making that kind of money from video games is mind blowing. I'm going to have to work for decades, but this man had two years of living the dream and now gets to be a normal person, without the stress of normal people problems. He was so fun to watch in the early days of fortnite and brought so many people to the game. Like him or not, he's very wise in his department. He knows gaming and streaming inside and out
So often, the people who are big in the beginning almost never stay there. Ninja got lucky as the first good player, but even at the time, it's clear that he was not really prepared to handle being the biggest creator since it happened so fast. Other creators started from basically zero and had time to slowly improve and perfect their content while Ninja was more interested in short term profits. He did make a lot of money in those 2 years so he could probably retire and invest his money and never have to work a day in his life again.
Literally like "this guy has no empathy because he shouts at the people he killed in a video game". At some points the guy says "this isn't actually something i think is bad" but then he says it's a sign of Ninja having horrible moral character like what are you talking about? lol its just so inconsistent
It was Sunny calling him a "fake piece of shit" that I was a bit taken aback by. The whole video had a personal tone that hasn't really been present in other videos - typically Sunny sounds very impartial. This video was outside the norm.
@@Miller1107 It did seem strangely directedly hostile in this vid... like, even with other vids, like Amy Schumer or the Island Bois, the presentation was (mostly) pretty clinically detached with minimal editorializing.
@@The_Razielim "Literally like 'this guy has no empathy because he shouts at the people he killed in a video game'" I mean, I don't think he ever _literally_ say that. Also don't recall him ever going so far as to imply that he had "horrible moral character"in any fashion. Maybe that was your own personal IMPRESSION, but that doesn't change the fact that he never seemed to imply or explicitly say something that far. The video did feel somewhat more personal, I guess, but you can't just brazenly exaggerate stuff, ultimately misrepresenting what Sunny said. Not saying you did any of this intentionally - or even knowingly - because I think we can all do this shit from time to time, where we unwittingly recall our own subjective impression of what happened in place of might have objectively happened.
The reason why ninja is getting less views than sypher is that sypher is trying to appeal to his audience and also the fortnite playerbase, which is kids, while ninja is simply just gaming.
Saw the thumbnail and still clicked expecting some unbiased commentary on ninja and i got played like a fiddle. Ninja seems to have won the whole streamer game life. He now streams whatever he wants to 10k plus people and have secured a literal mountain of wealth. God i hope i can fall off like him one day.
Does he play what he wants? I havent really been watching any streamers too much last couple years. But I used to feel bad for him having to play the same damn game, and sometimes I swear you could see the pain in his face. He did what he was supposed to tho, riding that wave and being on top.
I'm glad to see other people calling this video out. It definitely seemed weirdly personal at times. The insults were very unnecessary and read like a bitter ex for some reason. Comparing the "hate" other streamers got vs Ninja being the litreral punching bag of the internet for a while after everyone got tired of fortnight is not a fair comparison.
He makes fun of Ninja as a crybaby for thinking people are out to get him, and then in the video highlights 4 different people shitting on a thumbnail. It's a thumbnail; they're all dumb. I don't see what was particularly dumb about that one. I don't care for Ninja but wtf is this video
@@Patman494 I never followed ninja closely but I remember reading about him having difficulty streaming for a period of time because there were entire teams of people dedicated to stream sniping him. Now I don't know what was true and what was exaggerated but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
Came here for a documentary, got half-news, half biased flaming under the guise of information. Dude's not just rich, but _wealthy_, and matured. He started around like 22 I guess, and he's 30 now. Most people grow up a lot then. The video's sitting at 10% dislike ratio, so I'm sure he'll get the point from that and all these comments. I'm all for info, just don't cuss the subject of the video out dude. You're basically less popular TMZ at that point.
Dude found himself in a unique position and tried to capitalize on it. Seriously, you can't really blame him. He took the high road. Realized that his fanbase was built up by 10 year old kids and decided to be a role model instead of shirking them off and blaming the parents for letting them watch. He was put under a tremendous amount of pressure in a field of media that's still being paved. All I see is someone who was trying to make the right moves and miscalculated the terrain. I'm sure in a few years he'll still have that money, and he'll have shirked the fame. We'll be seeing more of him. Hopefully, a more mature and rounded version, but I don't think that his career is over.
Yeah i think the hard thing with these kinds of situations is its hard to know what to do. Anyone that isn't famous (like on ninjas level or higher) can find it super easy to go "just be yourself, its easy". but when you have tons of emails flooding in about sponsor deals, tours, commercials, ect. I think getting into that super fast can be really confusing. I do think SOME celebs can get away with being rash, obnoxious, and rude. But it has to be handled in a special way and i'm not sure there's any set rules that work for everyone. I also think what makes things hard is that it WORKS for a while. It might not be something that's good long-term but for a while he was able to move away from how he acted in the beginning and tons of people were still watching him and sticking around. Its hard to know you're fucking up when your downfall hasn't even happened yet.
I think both Twitch and TH-cam had a spot in the downfall, considering TH-cam's ridiculous guidelines and Twitch's "unfairness" towards what's acceptable or not. He couldn't keep giving zero fucks after becoming famous.
Yeah, seems a little harsh, although I never watched him, I'm way older than his target demographic. Dude's already set up for life, and it seems like he's just coasting now and snagging what sponsorship deals he can while he's still relevant, which is just the smart thing to do.
how was this overly harsh or a bad take at all?? maybe ninja is successful money wise, but his career is pretty much dead and a comeback to the mainstream is doubtful, and the video hits spot on how ninja stopped being a genuine streamer in order to get more successful. Its not harsh or bad take, its just facts being presented. Nothing wrong with going full on celebrity mode and censoring yourself, but its gonna cause backlash, which is exactly whats being covered in this video.
@@philoby_angry_cat9840 oh well, First they hate, then they become youtube " Historians". Its all lies so it doesnt matter anyway. These people collect your views, get the money, and move on. Glad I’m not the only one that noticed that this video almost seems personal. I can’t hate on ninja the man got the bag and now he’s set for life. Other streamers mentioned didn’t come close to his peak so it’s kind of unfair to make comparisons because you do have to carry yourself differently when you reach big fame status so I don’t blame him for censoring himself more since we have seen what happens to stars when they get canceled.
@@ElmerGLue Yeah but if they made enough money to pay their bills for multiple lifetimes, did they really fail? I feel like success is often considered exclusive to the longevity of a career but that's not always the case.
This. Sunny made Ninja's viewership drop from 125k to 10k sound much worse than it really is. 125k is a ridiculous number, but 10k is nothing to sneeze at. Getting 10k viewers on a regular basis would rake in $1000 an hour easily from the ads, donations, and subscribers alone.
My man said "fake piece of shit" like Ninja violated him 💀. Also, it showed that just before his Mixer deal, he had a concurrent of 36k viewers, which is like 1/3 of his average at his peak. Microsoft gave Ninja way too much and Ninja capitalized on it.
Ngl reading the comments first I was expecting this video to be a hard hit-piece against ninja but after 11 mins(more than half of the video I seen the first personal attack and then at the very end the 2nd/last attack. Honestly all these comments are just blowing up something so small that it take only 4 seconds of the videos time. Stop overdramatizing things sheesh.
I don’t know why everyone is defending Ninja. He doesn’t care about his fans he was always in it for the money. His target audience is children. Which is already just creepy to think about. Most of these creators use these platforms to target young or old people to take advantage and milk money by donations, ads, sponsors , etc. Go look it up he’s talked crap about his fans! He sabotaged his own career. He’s not financially set when he still makes content constantly and trying to get many sponsors. If you weren’t hurting for money why try for so many sponsors and cry about it if you don’t get them? He blows money on a greedy lifestyle. He will be washed up and broke in 10 years and will be begging everyone for help.
ninja himself said at some point (when he was still the biggest out there) that he knew his fame would crush down eventually. he is and always has been very aware of that. It was very clear that a career like his doesnt last forever. I dont see how anyone can really "hate" ninja. He seems like a fair and also pretty smart person. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to be ninja.
tbh I don't really see many people "hate" Ninja at the height of his fame. It's just people memeing on him. Like that time he danced infront of hundreds of people and no one cared and the internet lost their shit. That was just funny. th-cam.com/video/IlrmORO1a_w/w-d-xo.html
This video feels like it was written by a teenager who really likes Tfue and doesn’t like Ninja. Ninja is still the most widely recognized name in streaming and he is still massively financially successful. No other streamer has even come close to matching what Ninja had done from a branding and pop culture relevance perspective. And that’s all without being propped up by one of the many esports orgs. Sure his viewership has declined as people have moved on to other streamers and other games, but I think that has more to do with the explosion of other streamers doing the same things as Ninja and Fortnite declining in popularity in general. Ninjas rise coincided perfectly with the rise of BR into the mainstream and then the release of Fortnite and his decline coincides with the proliferation of streaming which has segmented the viewership among other streamers and the decline in the popularity of Fortnite.
His career is nowhere near dead he just doesn’t average what he used to. He plays whatever he wants on his stream without having to worry about viewer count and donos/subs. I would say he’s thriving.
But he clearly isn't doing that. Have you watched a stream of his lately? He looks like he's aged 10 years in just the past 3... He has some serious issues going on, he's not as carefree as you and others are trying to make it out to be just because he has money
@@TheBlunkBeanie although I understand what you're saying, I don't think this is the same. Some of the ones who made it big do what they want, and have made peace with their success, while others adapt and work extremely hard to keep going. Ninja is beating a dead horse. He admitted to being fake, lost touch with his fans, and isn't adapting. He's a gaming TH-camr and Twitch streamer, who is typically focused purely on performance, where the content is his gameplay, that is the entertainment, and they typically have a lifecycle related to their game. In total, he got real competition, scared off his fans, never adapted, and became a sponsorship puppet, all in the lifecycle of someone who reliant on the popularity of his preferred game, to stay relevant. The only truly immortal gaming TH-camrs, are the big Minecraft TH-camrs, and that is a very saturated field.
@@tobiasreaper3650 "the only truly immortal gaming youtubers" yea, going to completely disagree with you. That type of blanket statement is not actually how things work. That is a very naive take on a subject with more depth than you give it credit for. First of all, there is an insanely huge number of gaming youtubers. You wanna know who is actually the immortal ones on the platform? The ones that aren't reliant on a games popularity, and will have a large audience despite what numbers the game has. I follow many gaming youtubers, and all of them aren't dependent on a games popularity , to ensure their own success. There are many ways to go about doing this, and the ones who have found success this way, I can guarantee you, are better for it.
starting at around 11:50 is the first time i heard this man laugh… kind of… it’s nice hearing someone that is usually deemed to be expressionless have such emotion in such a short period of time
I was with you until it started to feel really personal for no reason at all. Fair criticism is fine, but blatantly talking shit about his person is not.
He was obviously a fan and it did feel personal almost like the fans that liked him before he sold out and decided to leave his fans behinds for a majority of fans that had a problem.
I’ve watched Sunny’s other videos and he’s nowhere near as harsh as he is in this video. Sounds like he genuinely has something against the person he’s talking about in this one.
Not gonna lie this entire video felt like a low blow towards a creator that was doing his best to handle overnight global fame and adjusting his image to his new audience that had a lot of kids in it. You call him spineless - I call him a dude that was very aware of who was watching and what the best way to continue growing his business was. Production quality was good on this, but if you hate the guy just say it man. That’s how the video came off, at least.
Ya this was kind of my first thought too and I've never played Fortnite even once. The tone and language against the kid seemed unnecessarily harsh, there were like 2-3 points in the video where the guy refers to Ninja as a "piece of shit" almost angrily, it was weird and caught me off guard. Most of the video seemed objective then you'd randomly have these little pockets of bashing and insulting. I don't know anything about Ninja but damn is he really a piece of shit for not properly handling overnight superstardom as a dude in his 20s? I got the vibe that the video creator either has a thing against Ninja for some reason or is perhaps pandering to a possible trend of Ninja-hating that I'm not aware of. Either way, still an informative video. I always attributed Ninja's decline to the fall of Fortnite but I guess there was more to it. I play League and peeped his stream a couple times and each time he'd be struggling in like low Plat elo across thousands of games so I understand why his League stream never took off.
I agree, I personally don't like fortnite nor watches ninja, but I find his situation very understandable. Imagine within a year, you come from playing video games in your small bedroom to flying around the world for interviews and sponsorships, people love you, but they also hate you, but as a human, you don't know how to handle thousands of people criticising you and you don't have a lot of experience because fame came to you so quickly and suddenly. So now you try to please people, listening and following what they want you to do, since you think that's the best thing to do. But as months goes by, you start losing your fans, and you don't know how to fix it. You can live your life pretty comfortably from the money that you've made, but now the moment you show your face on the internet, you receive countless backlashes and hate for just... trying to please your audience. Ninja peaked in life, making millions and entertained lots of people, he shouldn't be hated for just doing that. This video is just too biased, I feel like it's more of an opinion piece than a documentary in some parts, and although it's alright to share your thoughts on the internet, directing hate and calling him "spineless" is too harsh.
"I call him a dude that was very aware of who was watching and what the best way to continue growing his business was" Except he didn't grow his business... He sold it. For whatever Microsoft offered him. Now his business is very steadily doing the OPPOSITE of growing.. More power to him - but don't try and suggest he made the best decision to actually grow his business. Made the best decision to grow his pocketbook, yes. Business, no.
Bit biased... This guy's a multi-millionaire, I would absolutely say he succeeded. After a certain point he made enough money that bad business decisions really didn't matter. And in fact mixer was probably the best choose (accidental, to be fair) he had with the early end to the contract. You're also complaining about the lack of authenticity, but also comparing him to SypherPK over and over again who does super polished thumbnails, content and editing
To be fair his complaints about authenticity are still completely founded and using editing was never the criticism levied against Ninja it was how he changed literally everything about himself to become marketable in the mainstream. But yeah this video was incredibly biased and super yikes to watch.
hypocrite really, he talks about authenticity, but he doesnt even do the due diligence of being authentic with his own audience about how biased and hateful he is of a millionaire. kinda happens when you're that jealous. i dont like ninja at all but i dont fucking care about his millions of dollars cuz im chasing my own bag, this man needs to re evaluate his points about the topics in his videos, pretty fucking pathetic to see a seemingly good youtuber turn into a worse "piece of shit" as he describes ninja.
His life is probably a dream for most people. He did what he probably enjoyed, got his money, and is just doing whatever he wants. Heck if I was him I would be happy even though I “fell” off.
This video kind of felt like you have an axe to grind with ninja. Keep it unbiased man, that's why I watch you. Don't inject your opinions (especially when it's to call someone a "piece of shit") into what is supposed to be a video covering the history of a channel.
While I was watching the video I kept wondering if people would acknowledge it. Thank goodness you all see it to. Man clearly has personal issues with ninja.
He still gets massive collabs with other youtubers, sponsorships, and is averaging about 10M views per month as of right now. Dude is living his life and could now play any game he wants now, hes made it in my opinion.
I watch your channel for unbiased, analytical videos of social media events. For the most part, you do this extremely well. Most of this video comes across to me as unbiased and analytical. However, there are times where this video feels more like a personal attack against Ninja than an analysis as to the decline in his viewership. Comments like "Splineless" and "Fake piece of shit" take away from the authenticity of your analysis
There is definitely some truth to the statement “at some point it just became cool to hate me”. As fast as ninja blew up not a lot of people knew about him so he became the fortnite kid streamer and was getting dunked constantly.
I really don’t like Ninja, or any streamer, but him choosing to start business deals and all that was probably the best choice. It was his job at the end of the day. Also, letting children decide where your career goes isn’t the best idea.
yeah, just because children watch your content does not mean you should cater to them. look at Markiplier, his content always was older teen to adult, and even opened an only fans now,and that has not stopped kids from watching him still regardless. It is not the creators fault for them watching them,it is the parent's for not monitoring what they do online
@EvanEnzo3719 you can only be on top for so long, and relevant for a little longer. Either take the large deal that’s guaranteed, or have a lower deal because you’re not as popular anymore.
It’s so funny because all the other videos SunnyV does, he constantly states this exact thing for why X creator or streamer failed. Hell he’s even done a whole video about why it’s so hard to be popular video game streamer and maintain relevance, and how they should quit while they are on top or start to decline so they don’t waste all their money trying to claw at relevancy. So here’s a streamer that kind of took Sunny’s advice, quit while he was on top/made a fortune, and instead of blowing all that cash instead reinvested to future business projects so he can keep making wealth and live comfortably. If anything, he should be commended for this. Sure his personality may suck, but the dude found success and managed to keep it/change ventures instead of hitting rock bottom like everyone else eventually does
I'm not a fan of Ninja, I actively dislike him But his career didn't die from lack of effort or motivation, he achieved a peak no other streamer has yet to reach and got a 25m bag for it, after that he just seemed to go back to doing the basics and having fun again, just playing games and streaming without any worries of financial stability or high expectations. That's a win in my books.
@@klaus6178I heard the mixer deal was worth 100 million and there was no clause if the 2 parties separated for any reason, meaning Microsoft still paid him 100 million dollars even though mixer shut down. Take that and add in probably another, factoring in donations, subs, creator codes, merch, sponsors, etc, he was easily bringing in 15-20 million a month. Over a 6 month period, including the mixer deal, he brought in 190-220 million dollars and that’s a generous estimate given the companies he had/has partnerships with.
This is one of the less great videos you've done recently imo, just feels weirdly heated when it's not really that complicated (and I don't even care nor ever really watched Ninja). He was always focused on results/wealth and ended up getting so much of it in one go from the Mixer deal he basically retired the day he accepted it. Of course his thumbnails and shit are gonna be shite after lol, why does he care.
Man, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't take 50 million to take a hit in their career. Someone can say they would, but it's a helluva lot different when you have that contract in front of you.
Exactly I would have taken in a heart beat. Just that money alone is life changing for not only you but your grandkids. That’s not even close to the money he made from streaming in the first place. Dude is very successful ...
This video feels weirdly.. personal? It goes from analyzing viewer counts and possible reasons behind their decline to random ad-hominem insults in a split second, did you two fight or something? xD
@@rhyswilliams4893 For me this was the first video I watched... big yikes. Did stop watching this one and checked another... and suddenly he doesn't seem like complete douche. The way he made this video might not have been his brightest idea, if he had any when making this to begin with.
Mostly good explanations but this was unnecessarily harsh at times, what was added by calling him a "piece of shit" and "garbage person"? all for taking some brand deals. he still rakes in 10k live viewers which is nothing to laugh at, has made more money than most of us will ever see and has this incredible career behind him. who knows, he might even have a resurgence in the future. social media and declining numbers can have a massive impact on your mental health and ninja is indeed a human being, i'm sure you'd hate watching a video like this about yourself in the future, when numbers inevitably decline.
Mate 10k views? For one of the most popular PC streamers and youtubers in the world? I know mobile gamers steamers that get 1-2k views on their lives 💀 But ninja is set for life as long as he uses his money Wisely
I agree with this comment a lot. There’s nothing inherently bad about Ninja. Just because you find him annoying doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. This video just seemed like kicking someone when they are down.
This video seemed waaaay to personal and didn’t live up to your usual unbiased content. I think some of the insults thrown at Tyler were uncalled for. He went in, made his money and now he’s doing what he wants.
@@lf198 Quite frankly, this video was explicitly meant to be ABOUT his career. The video wasn't meant to be about if you like him, or if he's a good person, the video was meant to be about his career "dying". I love Sunny's usual content, but this video really didn't live up to his usual quality. To say that someone's career is dead while they're still making far more money than most people, along with the fact that he's still pulling in tens of thousands of views on streams, is just blatantly wrong. If you think that Ninja's career is dead then either you have no idea when someone is successful or you're just delusional. You literally said that he's successful, you just don't like him.
It is almost indescribably difficult to do what Ninja did. He's set for life, off the Mixer buyout alone. Let's give the guy some credit. He's worth more money than any of us will likely see in our entire lifetimes.
@@totallynotgay553 But does permanent internet career will? SunnyV2 was going off his rocker at the last part for no reason. And the first half was amazingly critical too.
@@totallynotgay553 clearly streaming isn’t where he derives his happiness from anymore either. he got his bag, now hes doing what he wants and putting in minimal effort and still making millions. can’t really blame him tbh
You can’t call him a “piece of shit” just cause he has a “fake persona” just cause he doesn’t give people what they wanna see. He’s still a person, calling him all these names like he’s just a dogshit person isn’t right. I don’t care for him but I know he isn’t a terrible person who deserves to be called these names
True, so rude man I just wanted to learn what happened to ninja and once he started calling him names I wasn't sure if all he had said till that point was true or just hatred
Because Ninja is just overall an asshole and hypocrite (Prime example: Do not bully people). You guys really shouldn't be defending him lmao, just because it's a persona doesn't mean he can't be shit on
4 mil views on Yt per month is what I do now more or less and I can guarantee that it's more than enough to make a great living,. Of course, compared to his prime it's way less but he's still doing very well for a channel. Also, with all he earned before he's definitely set for life :D
I don’t think you know what ‘die’ means. As said in the video, he was gaining 100k or more viewers each stream in his prime but now only gets around 10k. Even if he was at one point the most successful video gamer streamer he definitely isn’t now.
@@shitgender5423 Well yeah but the point of streaming is money, and because he made millions and millions of dollars from both his twitch and youtube + that deal from microsoft which gave him 50 mil. It doesn't really matter if his career died out.
I never watched Ninja or played Fortnite, but I can respect that he made a decision to go for the opportunity he was given. It doesn't matter if he fell off because he can just do what he did before but with no stress due to being loaded. The video certainly seemed to make it out like he's failing or something, but he got exactly what he wanted.
the issue with most streamers is they're one trick ponies, their viewers started watching because of a game, I'd say for most streamers they have 2 games and if them games both run their course the streamer also has. Some, Some can move on or have the personality to keep the audience some can't. Also who cares if a salesmen makes it or keeps it going. I know I sound like a Hater but I'm just being honest to the way I see it. Its cool people are becoming millionaires playing games I just know their not my friend and shouldn't be viewed as one. Look at the Doc that dude is stuck in that roll, he cant get away from it if he wants the income.
Well the negative thing about then tends to be the giant ego that comes with it. TH-cam has no shortage of them. Some of them you post a comment and they seem to think we all do it for the sake of interacting with them when really if it's about a game and it's intended more for those like yourself who just come looking for a minor strat on something.
This video was a low blow to ninja. Don’t hate on someone just because they changed to gain a bigger audience. He did what was best for him and I respect it.
Yeah lol this video is such an L. Like sure the video could be about how he lost some popularity compares to what he used to be, but to say that having 10 thousand viewers is bad??? And the amount of money he still makes is insane.
As a former big fan of Ninja who used to watch him play halo and h1z1, everything you said is true. However this is like kicking a man when he's down. I can't help but feel bad for the guy. money isn't everything
I don't know why people get so worked up over stuff like this. At the end of the day, he is streaming video games to people on twitch. The tens of millions of dollars that Microsoft pays him are far more valuable. I think it's a bit ridiculous to say "Oh his loyalty to his fans" when it's just like yeah who cares, his fans don't have loyalty to him, he doesn't play what they want and they leave him in the dust and forget about him. So why should he consider them when presented with apparently 50 million dollars. Like really...
Holy shit so insightful I completely agreed with what you said and those business deals was one to the smartest things that he did from a financial point of view but also I like the relatable aspect so only time will tell
I have to admit, ninja had a specific personality which was so damn memeable, I have to disagree that all of the hate came from his focus on it itself, he had more than his fair share
I’ve watched a handful of videos from this channel and they were all good so far except for this one. I’m sure trash talk gets viewers or whatever, but like Ninja was obviously not a failure, he made tons and tons and tons of money which was the whole point….so idk why is this video so salty about him but let the man have his success
Right? Arguably the biggest success story of any gamer ever. His viewer base dropped proportionately to fortnite's. Instead of banking on being able to transfer a massive audience across games the guy secured almost $100 million in profit. Other gamers may die over the next 10-20 years but he's the ONLY one with the cash to always be relevant whenever he wants.
@@stormichow5325 I haven't seen that video in a long while so I don't remember what he said in it, but it may be warranted at this point. Have you heard the news about Sky lately?
I think it's unfair to call him "spineless" or say the nice guy image was fake. It's hard for any of us to know what it feels like to be in that position, and maybe all the negative attention really was eating at him when he was at heart just a goofy kid who liked playing games on stream. There's no guide to being a millionaire celebrity and attacking someone who cracks under the pressure as "a piece of shit" is just hateful and needlessly mean.
i think its funny sunnyv2 was saying how ninja mislabeled his videos/thumbnails but sunnyv2 straight up did the same thing in this video. it shouldve been titled ...how ninja became a spinless piece of shit. or why i hate ninja. i have no hate towards ninja just to be clear but thats 2 titles he couldve used. this video though felt like it was attacking ninja. it couldve been better with just the informational stuff and less personal feelings with the hate towards him. the direction of this video started out with ninja's career and highlights and statistics...which then shifted to just opinions about the guy.
Yea, imo he just sold is soul out, for a ridiculous amount of money, and if like 90% of people had the same choices, they'd do it. He is probably set for life in terms of money, but does he enjoy streaming? Who knows, I hope he's mentally okay
I thought I was the only one that felt this. I personally never got into fortnite and I've probably watched a combined total of 10 minutes out of all of Ninja's streams, but a lot of what Sunny said in this video just seemed harsh and totally unwarranted. I've seen people do everything "right" (at least according to this video) with their careers and they still end up falling off. These things are just out of your control sometimes in life. I think the truth is that Ninja was just a kid that reached historical levels of fame in a very short amount of time and didn't know how to handle it all and he's far from the first person to go through that. I hate that people think that's all of a sudden a reason to try assault his character. At the very least (correct me if I'm wrong), to my knowledge he didn't do anything morally wrong
@@brian782 from what I understand, the hate he gets is because he “sold out.” People probably shit on him for being sensitive as a way to pile on more but I think the sellout thing is the primary source. That being said, it’s pretty ridiculous in my opinion seeing as he never did anything morally wrong and he did what he thought was best for his career and business
i feel like once he realized the huge huge amount of potential his popularity had to make money, he just went 100% cash grab mode, and tried to ride the wave for as long as possible until his brand died. ninja basically sold off his popularity for millions and millions of short term cash, instead of trying to make an established name for himself

@@basherblast I think a more precise way to word it, to describe how things played out, would be something like: at each step, doing what seems most advantageous from that position, and hoping it all plays out in his favor, rather than what you and this video sorta describe which is more like trying to plot a path through all the decisions toward an ongoing outcome of continuing what he was doing I never followed ninja so idk all the details, but that in itself says something since it mean he got so huge that even people like me with absolutely zero interest in him and fortnite still heard of him (I believe through pewdiepie in my case). Point is, from the little I know, the majority of which is from only this video: seems he did not originally intend or expect to blow up so much and so didn't have a plan of how to handle it going in. So while with 20/20 hindsight it's very easy to point out optimal routing, in the moment he got caught up in random stuff that he may not have picked if he had a clearer plan from the start about how he would use this opportunity. And yet, even the way it all played out it's still an overwhelmingly high quality outcome, even if it is only in the top 20% of possible results rather than the top 1% we can see now as people in the future looking back.
The man secured the bag for him and his family and for his future kids as well. All that, while still being extremely popular and setting the scene for literally MOST gamers.
He secured enough wealth for the next 10 generations in his family lol. What he did was correct, I supported him doing it because his contract was life changing money
Only 10k viewers... My God. May God have mercy on his soul, poor man has only 10k views what a tragedy, pray for him and his family. This just ain't right
Something everyone needs to understand is that ninja never really died, yes he lost viewer ship, but he still gains love and collabs with huge channels. Ninja will always be someone I will remember. As someone who inspired me to become a video game pro. Still to this day when people think fortnite ninja, the one hyper, very characteristic creator will pop up in your mind.
What you are saying is 110% correct and Ninja still gains close to 10 million views per month and I don’t know why SunnyV2 thinks that irrelevant his audience simply got older and wanted to move on from watching Fortnite.
When you get to his level of wealth, I can see why it would be difficult to find the motivation to continue his career. Especially when it comes with a lot of negativity and backlash for almost every decision you make. At the point where he is at, he can simply live off dividends and do what he actually loves without the public spotlight to criticize it.
It's not also motivation to continue...it's also that you achieved what you became famous for..wealth..when you reach a certain level of wealth...after a while you can quote on quote stop working....dk how much he made over his career...but given the right financial management he should have a good amount set for life...also he still gets views according to some other comments..so he isnt bankrupt or cancelled per say..but i would like to hear others take on this matter.....
Was never a ninja fan but this video kinda reeks of envy, if he even invested a fifth of what he earned in long term money markets he is set for life....
Alot of your jabs were unnecessary and uncalled for. I never once watched his vids but i knew him from twitter and yes alot of them bully the guy for no reason and I agree with the comments this did felt personal and biased af

Nah this wasnt it. This was unnecessarily personal at times and you act like he isn't some regular guy with the pressure of the world on his shoulders. He achieved what he sought out to do, milked his wave of fame to the point where he and his future kids are set for life. Not to mention he still has a loyal fanbase of 10k concurrent viewers which is still pretty damn good. This is no where near your best work, do better.
Yeah I agree. I have only seen the epic meal time vid prior to this and he just comes across as if he is trying to attack the guy for trying to make money. I hope his other stuff is better
Duuuuude especially the ending like bro it’s clearly obvious that you just don’t like him which is fine but just randomly throwing personal attacks into a video where you’re just supposed to be discussing his career decline is completely uncalled for.
I was about to type out like yoo this guy didn't fail , he leveraged his time as a gamer to build a life he wants after its all done. But looks like everyone in the comments is saying the same thing. He is a success story Sunny ma man
It's fucking impossible to maintain the numbers of Ninja at his peak. Sure, he can be kind of cringe but I think he's a good guy. He's set for life and doesn't have to worry about playing a game he doesn't want just for the sake of chasing numbers anymore.
His career didn't die, it just achieved it's purpose. Wealth.

Amen. Exactly how I see it. It’s worrying what people perceive as “dead” these days
People care too much about numbers. Hes probably very happy.
This guy is set for life so i wouldn’t be mad if my “career” died. Now he doesn’t have to be a clown at a birthday party for little kids. He is probably relieved to be able to go back to himself before he blew up.

He turned a hobby into business, after he accumulated enough, he turned it back into a hobby so he can enjoy life and live care free doing what he loves. Ninja cashed in and dropped the mic. Kudos!
It wasn't his choice to turn it back into a hobby.

I mean, I don't think he ever _literally_ say that.

Hey Brett didn’t expect to see you hear
"I call him a dude that was very aware of who was watching and what the best way to continue growing his business was"

Yeah, this guy sorta got toxic by the end of the video as if he’d not take that 50mil deal
When you know ya self you dont fall for money

@@spugelo359 he is usually pretty impartial while explaining stuff usy.

@@lf198 you not liking him has nothing to do with his career tho
Sunny went crazy this vid i love it
It is almost indescribably difficult to do what Ninja did. He's set for life, off the Mixer buyout alone. Let's give the guy some credit. He's worth more money than any of us will likely see in our entire lifetimes.

Ninja:Existing Sunnyv2:And I took that personally
Tone of this video is a little aggressive lol, what did Ninja do to you?
I have to admit, ninja had a specific personality which was so damn memeable, I have to disagree that all of the hate came from his focus on it itself, he had more than his fair share
Why do I see u everywhere
He became a meme, & memes die fast... except for Rick Roll, that meme is the Philosopher's Stone
The SkyDoesMinecraft video wasn't good either. He did the same thing in that video, which was unwarranted bashing.
Yeah he is full of shitnin this one.
this!!
This is a great comment. I’ve always felt ninja is genuine. I think the “hate” is hard for him Bc he’s a sensitive soul at some level which is good
@@brian782 from what I understand, the hate he gets is because he “sold out.” People probably shit on him for being sensitive as a way to pile on more but I think the sellout thing is the primary source. That being said, it’s pretty ridiculous in my opinion seeing as he never did anything morally wrong and he did what he thought was best for his career and business
Ninja shook things up. He’s a legend. He changed the gaming world
he played a video game for few months and made generational wealth in the process, that is a W in my book....
i feel like once he realized the huge huge amount of potential his popularity had to make money, he just went 100% cash grab mode, and tried to ride the wave for as long as possible until his brand died. ninja basically sold off his popularity for millions and millions of short term cash, instead of trying to make an established name for himself

@@basherblast I think a more precise way to word it, to describe how things played out, would be something like: at each step, doing what seems most advantageous from that position, and hoping it all plays out in his favor, rather than what you and this video sorta describe which is more like trying to plot a path through all the decisions toward an ongoing outcome of continuing what he was doing
I never followed ninja so idk all the details, but that in itself says something since it mean he got so huge that even people like me with absolutely zero interest in him and fortnite still heard of him (I believe through pewdiepie in my case).
