These guys are great. The lead singer has distinctive voice that resonates similarly to the Frigid Pink lead singer. The guitar player is off the charts good as is the drummer. When i picked this video, I didn't expect much, but they wildly exceeded my expectations.

The frigid version is awesome sound from way back, and these guys nailed it. The Lead and drums played as if they were from the original band. GREAT SOUND GUYS LOVED IT.
Then you aren't a guitarist or a musician at all, hahaha. Good cover, but very basic lead work. When you're hiding behind all that gain/distortion and wah it hides everything and it's much easier to play lead, less effort.
I am regarded as a very good guitar player and 1) its all about being good but more importantly be ear catching and entertaining, and this guy is just that 2) isn't that what a whole bunch of "great" players do - sell it? 3) If you want simply great guitar, watch Tommy Emmanuel play a guitar.
My half brother was the lead singer and musical director of Frigid Pink. Played guitar and was virtuoso level on piano and other keyboards. Sadly he's gone now. He was also good friends with Bob Segar and helped him write the keyboard track on Bob's Turn The Page song.

Just a little fact that most people don't know, back in 1964 The animals did a version of house of the rising sun that sold around seven hundred and fifty thousand copies. We Frijid Pink sold over 7 and a 1/2 million copies in 1970. Think about that!!!

I've seen hundreds of TH-cam videos and I don't recall ever seeing a Bass Guitar by any other Brand than Fender!! They must be so good that nobody else even tries to compete!

Have watched several years worth of these picnics and it's interesting to see the changes as the players age... but still getting better as time goes by. They still have great energy for a "Dad Band" and that's something that counts in a live show. Of course, knowing these songs from 50+ years ago helps, right?
As you may have noticed most of these songs are different from year to year. Rarely have we done a song twice and often those repeat are actually different interpretations from artists that have covered the songs. Thanks for tuning in and for your comments.

Will have to go back and see what else may be a cover of a cover.... or like the Dead, where they never play the same song twice the same way. @@rupe53 once a year. We are guys that back to our teens and further is some respects. Each participant brings in 3 song prospects and guys figure out which they would like to contribute to. There are 6 of us that are here in Illinois that rehearse about 1 or 2 times a month tween March and September and then we all assemble from across the U.S. for a rehearsal the day before the live Performance on the sunday of labor day weekend. That performance is recorded to 2 linked zoom 8 track recorders as well as several digital cameras. The signals also go to live console for presentation to the attendees. Dan our drummer then does the audio and video production for later download to TH-cam. I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for your commentary and interest.

The glory of this project is we can do songs we love with no regard to the whims of agents, club owners, dancers etc. Nobody to answer to but our bandmates. By consequence I think the results speak for themselves. The love shines through.

In the 60's I played this song from the Animal's version. When I heard this, my musical perspective was altered forever.
