Yes ,it was originally a zombie song ,but Santana also recorded it years later, and sounds better the Santana version. Great job guys ! You guys sound dope ! Keep them coming !👍
Of course we know that!😊 This is the Santana version from 77. It got quite a bit of air play at the time. You should check it out! We also love the Zombies version. Just playing songs we enjoy...
I was sitting here with that song going through my head and this was the second video in my recommendations talk about FREAKY! I was thinking about the original by The Zombies, but this version is killer.
Ok- I commented on your BOC vid other nite and just checked out this one. You guys are astounding. I casted it over to my tv and cranked my soundbar. It’s midnight now so I hope the neighbors enjoyed some Santana. I’m prob about your ages and I’m super jealous. And again, I ran it thru my SoundHound app and yep. Santana came up! From the live album MoonFlower 1977. I snapped a screenshot and wish I could send it on here. Keep jammin and posting. I’ll be watching.
A lyric once said Elvin Bishop Setting on a bale of hay, he ain’t good lookin’ but he sure can play. Music has been highly responsible for introducing me to significant others. It ceertainly wasn’t my excetionnal sense of style.
Come on man a garage band that plays in the park on weekends, appreciate what they are and not what you think they should be. I thought they did a great job, way better than most for sure!!!
Starts off wrong, there is no guitar on the opening parts of the Santana version, just keyboards and drums, the guitar comes in later, it sounds better that way, gives the guitar more impact when it comes in.
You are correct about the studio version! As is says in the songs description, "this is our version of the song." We try to cover everything as close as possible, but we are not a tribute band or a typical band. This is a once a year project. Lifelong friends coming together on this one day. The keyboard player and bass player are from the west coast. We played this song twice the day before, and this gig is the only time we'll play it live. That's it! I think we did a pretty damn good job for a bunch of old guys.😊 Don't be so nitpicky. Musicians should stick together. Now, to really burst your bubble, we also checked live versions of Santana doing this live. Lo and behold, I found several versions where Carlos played right from the get go, so John did it too. Crazy huh? It's also where we found how they ended it as it fades out on the record. Here's a link to one of the live versions. th-cam.com/video/mg-T8CGMbZQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yrBP93T7QzSwDhGq Thanks for your input though....
@@bsommer1717 Thanks man, so true. The comments on what we wear are even better. Some guy was ripping on me for wearing gloves while I drum. Then fans came to my rescue pointing out a number of famous drummers who wear gloves. When you can't find flaws in the music you nitpick something else.
its alright with me ... they can have as many version to play as long it hit the core and the guitar licks as what Santana is all about... great Bass lines and an awesome drummer's tempo too as well as perfect Santana keys .... forget about bad comments , sometimes pretenders are not true musicians .... fly on Picnic Band!
Great job.. but the chorus isnt right..from where the "the way she acted etc... shouldnt be a vocal harmony ..that may be the only thing throwing it off or maybe someones hittting a wrong chord in there as well.. anyway nice job otherwise..
Absolutely the best. I love these guys!!!!
I LOVE THESE GUYS !!!!!!!!!
John Ryan is a die-hard rocker and I admire that!
John Ryan is a great guitarist!
Yes ,it was originally a zombie song ,but Santana also recorded it years later, and sounds better the Santana version. Great job guys ! You guys sound dope ! Keep them coming !👍

My favorite all time band 😊
Killer guitar solo!
Every band needs a DOUG!😎🎹🎶
This song isn't by Santana, it's by Zombies from 1965. By Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent.
Of course we know that!😊 This is the Santana version from 77. It got quite a bit of air play at the time. You should check it out! We also love the Zombies version. Just playing songs we enjoy...
Santana had a bigger hit with it in 1977 on their Moonflower album, they are doing it in the style Santana did it, thus the title.
This band is TIGHT!
Damnit, one of the best songs ever written; and I missed it. Love your version. Hope I get to see it in the future.
Real rock n roll! Simply refreshing and an amazing group!
Wow, and holy crap, you guys rock.. The guitar playing is friking amazing, you guys sound tight.
Never knew Santana fid a version of this one! Killer cover in any case!

Really good take on the song! You guys rock!

Bravísimo
BRAVO!!!!
Nice Fly.
long intro but luckily everything in its place
That's because this is the Santana version from 1977....
Doug, after many listens I just woke up! Your keys are tremendous! They make a Santana song complete. Without that, meh...
I swear this was done by the "Zombies" not Santana. Otherwise great job!
Covered by Santana I believe.
True Santana covered.
Yes, this is Santana's version from 1977.
Yes originally a Zombies song but Santana did a cover with it like he did w Black Magic Woman …which was originally an early Fleetwood Mac song.
The Zombies..
We are doing the 1977 version by Santana. We love the Zombies original version as well.
Awesome. But it's a Zombies song...no?
Never mind. I looked it up and see Santana did a cover of it. Great job!
We thought we’d do a version with tribute to both versions
All these critics I thot music was in the eye of the beholder oh I guess that’s beauty well that is one in the same

Santana? This is a zombies song folks!
Of course we know that!😊 This is the Santana version from 77. It got quite a bit of air play at the time.

Improper usage/spelling of "your!" Please correct that ASAP!

Thanks! We actually knew that harmony wasn't there, but we threw in as a nod to the Zombies.
@@neighborhoodpicnic2022 y'all did a helluva nod to the Zombies and Carlos Santana...I like both versions and now this...
What is this abomination? Some ordinary band imitating Santana imitating the Zombies?Nyet
Sour puss..you may go..you won't be missed.😊
Go lock yourself up in a dirty restroom somewhere.
You are far to tough on them.
Your bass player. As to the "muh...the song doesn't do that..." guy's comment, the way you did that sounded great, so who the h.ll cares?
